- One of my gracious viewers sent me a 3D printed squirter container for my 1966 Thunderbird. They fit all 1964-66 Thunderbirds. It fit very nicely and looks great, and even has a Thunderbird emblem on it. It is not like the factory original squirter bag, but is beautiful just the same. His name is David Berger and he says that if anyone is interested, he can make you one for a reasonable price. You can contact him on his Facebook page, here is the link:

Hey Nick, Don Felt here. It's great to see you making videos!
Hey Don, long time no see. I hope you guys are doing well. Do you still have the convertible and the corvair? Man its been a long time. Im still working in my shop. Currently Ive been working on my 1961 Cadillac. Right now Im in Grand Junction helping a friend finish up a 1964 Cadillac convertible. It need a lot of work. I still have my 66 town hardtop. I also bought a 66 convertible recently in Los Angeles. I have a video of that too. How are you guys and your kids? they are probably all moved out with kids of their own?? So nice to hear from you. Cheers!
looks really cool and added capacity. double win
I agree.
David's 3d print turned out very nice, and looks really good in place of the bag...and like you said, it holds more than the bag.
Thank you Nick...and David!
Hey Nick, those holes on the wheel well next to the 3D screen washing container on my car are for mounting the cruise control mechanism.
I've been considering using some other vehicle container in place of the small factory bags. But this seems to be an even better idea... I like it.
Hey User, I like to the look of the original bag but I never liked their functionality. They are prone to leakage and dont hold that much fluid. This 3D printed container works really well. You should get one if you can. Thanks.
Nick,
That container is much better than the bag, which I've always thought was cheap-looking. Ford could have done so much better with that. And as for those holes...an ahooga horn was there. 😎
Regards,
John
An ahooga horn was there? Damn, someone stole my ahooga horn! I hate it when that happens. lol
Hey Nick
Every time I see a well done printed item, in my mind, I start to justify buying a printer. Thanks Nick
Walt
Hey Walter, yes it is the future. One day they will be printing structures on the Moon and Mars with those. Its amazing really. Thanks.
Hey that is cool I would love to purchase one for my 1966 Q code landau. I live in Canada.
Hey Wizzarddog, then give David a shout on his Facebook channel. Good Luck.
Thanks Nick, another cool video. I like the reservoir, the bag really looks cheesy to me. A white one for your Bird would be cool, although would show dirt pretty quick
Thanks Gary.
Hi Nick
How about a video on the proper placement of jack stands for a ‘66 T-bird.
Hey Douglas, thats a good suggestion. Ill keep that in mind. Thanks.
Thanks Nick
I’m in the middle of installing a Dakota Digital cruise control to my ‘66 and the unibody has me concerned when it comes to putting it on jack stands.
As always… much appreciated
@@DouglasDouglas-wk2ob Hey Douglas, In the front, there are two heavy metal pads behind the fender wells, you can see them, they are different than the floors. Jacks can go there if the car is not rusty. In the back there is frame, you can see it next to the leaf spring perches. Use those. Good luck.
I love the washer reservoir! I really do. I've already replaced my old deteriorated bag with a new bag, otherwise I'd be interested in something like this. For some reason, I can't get my actual squirters to not spray the louvers on the cowl grille...a lot of the spray hits the louver bars. It shouldn't be rocket science, but it is for me, as usual. 😄 Should the tips of the squirters be exposed above/outside of the louvers? That's the only way I can imagine the spray would be unobstructed. Thanks.
Hey Kayeninetwo, you can adjust them however you want, above the lovers or below. I think originally they were below. You have to get them perfectly aligned for them to not squirt the louvers. Maybe the rubber tips have an incorrect hole? Ive had that problem before and they sprayed all over the place or just dribbled out. Ive gotten new rubber nipples and poked my own hole and used those. Its something your probably going to have to dick around with for a while. good luck.
Hello Nick. Wonder why Ford didn't go with a fluid container like that on the Thunderbird. My 66 Colony Park has a plastic container.
George B
Hey George, yeah the bag is kind of an underperformer since it doesn't hold very much fluid. The container has to be at least a quart.
Nick, off topic, but do you know what shocks to put into the front of a 66 bird with the 390? I can't seem to find the correct set anywhere. Thanks for any help.
Hey Scott, now your really testing my bad memory. I remember once upon a time that I used extra heavy duty Gabriels and Monroes but those have since gone obsolete. There are a bunch of Monroes on the web for sale (google search). For example, from the parts geek, Monroe #15293-02581159. You can call the Birds Nest and ask them what they use. For the 64-66, I like the extra heavy duty shocks when I can find them. I have not used these Monroes that I mention above so I cant say one way or the other if they are good. They look correct. I hope that helped. Thanks.
nick, please help ! i have a '64 t-bird, 390, with air conditioning and eaton pwr strng pump.
i had my power steering pump rebuilt ( leaking). noticed my lower radiator hose was
being cut by the belt. facebook group says i've got the wrong pulley.
the pully is 1" from face of pulley to shoulder that faces pump. some people say its correct. is that my problem?
also noticed a machined groove in the pump shaft as if for an "e" clip retaining clip, yes ? thanks in advance.
Hey Mark, I need to see the pump and pulley first hand. Can you send me some photos that show the pulley clearly? My email is tamie.nick@sbcglobal.net. I've seen many Thunderbirds where the lower rad hose is hitting the power steering belt. This is common. It is mainly the position of the hose usually. There is a spacer behind the power steering bracket. Maybe the spacer is wrong, the wrong length??? The grove in the shaft itself doesnt mean anything, it is not used. If memory serves me correctly, I think the back edge of the grove stops the pulley from going back any further? If that's not correct then I need some Alzheimer's meds. Thanks.
Nick,
Off topic, but I have a question you might be able to answer. In my 66 t-bird there is some sort of electric motor that is ignition switch operated in the trunk and I have no idea what it's for. It sits on the passenger side right up behind seat back under the rear dash. It's by the flasher relay. Thanks for any help in identifying this.
Hey Scott, you are describing the sequential motor. The sequential motor, sequential relay and brake light relay all work together in a bag. The sequential motor should only work when the turn signals are turned on. All this should be in a "bag" bolted up behind the rear seat accessed through the trunk. Good luck.
@vintagethunderbirdrepair9426 that's it, I had been messing around under the colum, maybe I hit the turn signal. Thanks for your help.
Really nice design , what's the info to purchase and what's the price? Maybe it was the cruise control in that empty spot?
Hey Tachdout, yes you are right. My memory is gone with the wind. The car used to have cruise control and I removed it. Duh!! That's embarrassing. Anyway, David has a Facebook page, the info for that is in the description of the video and at the end of the video. David will tell you the price. Good luck.
Don't even worry about it Nick your way more knowledgeable on these birds than me I just know and figured that's what it was cause I took mine off also
Great idea. Wonder would it fit on a 64 with the inner fender mounted power steering reservoir
Hey Daryl, I don't think it would fit. I can see it would conflict with the reservoir. You could ask David to make it narrower, maybe half as wide. Or maybe he could put a cut out on that side? I wonder if he thought of that? Ill ask him. Thanks.
Hey Daryl, I spoke to David about this and he never even considered that remote power steering reservoir. He wasn't aware of it since his car doesn't have it. He's going to check into it but for the mean time, I don't think the squirter reservoir would fit.
Thanks for the follow-up, Nick.
@darylwoods3952
I got some measurements and it certainly seems to fit with the external power steering reservoir in place, albeit with minimal clearance (about 1/4").
