Meanwhile eco friendly companies like Apple are doing whatever they can so that repair shops cant repair their products and you need to buy a new one.
This is why we need right to repair acts.

Very poor translation and purposely mistranslated to make it even more coarse and dramatic.. For example at 11.00 the man say 'here people work and here is the place where people get their sustenance from..' the translator says..'this is where people work and people die'.

Mostly they r kind of censoring it so as to direct it their way, eg the fisherman in the end was saying something like that the fish dont come here because of cows shit and other waste which fill the shores or seaside but the translation was its because of pollution than the correspondent diverts the conversation and says what about the pollutant water coming out of the drains and than he says something like yes that also kills the fish. so mostly its like that and when people r supporting their work or claims it translated like we dont have any other way, please help us we r doomed etc when in reality they have said more things @jae lynn even the wwf workers shown here clearly shows they have less experience and its all propaganda type u can clearly see her smiling when the two r talking their language is also like its not natural its like the director or cameraman said heres what points we want out of the conversation say these things ok action. All of this could be shown in a better way but sadly this documentary was just selfish, i am all for showing problems n they have clearly shown them but dont censor things to prove just one point. Basically its not because of just e-waste but they choose to censor those things tunnel visioned viewer to their goal.

Recycling is a good business and better for environment, However the people who engage such job should have some training. Many electronic parts have very long life span that can be reused/ resurrected for better purposes. In the video recycling techniques are very primitive and reduces the yield dramatically. For example those toroid transformers are a lot more valuable than extracting the copper. 3 months training prior to recycling job will be very beneficial, recycling can be done most profitable way. Workers can make 12 to 18x more by working only 6 hours a day without fumes and toxic exposure

That medicine is probably what's causing the stomach aches and the pimples. I wonder if those pills are even real. I seriously wouldn't be surprised if those pills were made from ground up computer pcb boards or rock dust.
I'm wondering most about how they afford that place. Do they pay rent, property taxes, do they pay income tax? The mother said she's been there for her whole life.
I really hope the person behind the camera gave them a few hundred bucks for their time and also take the lady to see a doctor.
When I was in India, I got a rash of little red spots on my feet and I went to my friends family doctor, he looked just like a normal Indian. He met us out side, looked at my feet, I think he gave me a few pills (probably the same pills she's taking, ha ha ha ha) and that was that. The rash went away.

At age 16, I was living in Japan and saw firsthand how recycling was done. I would visit the electronics shops in Tachikawa City to buy parts for electronics projects. Men would be squatting in front of a pile of old TV sets to extract the copper wire from them and to cut parts out to resell in the electronics stores. It was a clean and thriving business.
Fast forward to today... There are very very few discrete components in electronics today that have any value. Recycling requires special techniques and methods to extract the valuable elements contained in them.
I grew up poor and know poverty firsthand. These people have no choice but to work in these situations in order to subsist. Could Akbar use better techniques in his recycling efforts? Sure! But look at who is "choosing" to live this way. Akbar is. Recycling, good or bad, is a choice. There is no such thing as lack of opportunity.
As far as blaming electronics companies for their part in this, consider this. In 1966 there were no recycling companies handling e-waste. Just a few people recycling copper. With the newer technologies, electronics companies have found ways to lessen the impact of the e-waste by making things smaller. Don't think so? When was the last time you sat down at a computer instead of your cellphone to send a text or email... or to watch this video?
Copper costs a couple of bucks a pound these days. Back then it was only pennies. Everything is getting more expensive and unfortunately for the poor, their lives are getting cheaper because of this "revolution" in technology. We will all suffer for this.

Killing the poorest??? 2:50... He is a success story, and employs the poorest,of the poor. AND, he is actually cleaning up the environment by recycling. Now he or someone might expand on the idea, and open a cheap computer repair service. Import and export repairs... Capitalism!

How about some actual medical studies to support the claims in this video! I don't deny the toxicity, but everyone living in poverty is sick because they live in filthy conditions with unclean water and no fresh food. We can take people living in pristine Himalayan mountains with similar rates of disease and infection. THEY ARE POOR AND UNEDUCATED! Show causality to the industry they are blaming.

Nice way of ignoring the problem here.
Lets put that trash in your backyard or dump it in your water.
You can do the same in rich countries as well.
Look at America for example, a lot of the pollution is concentrated in Black neighborhoods specifically.

Costs of operating component-extraction recycling facilities make it unprofitable in countries which have laws for health, safety, and pollution. That's why it's done in third world poverty.
