      Yes that was my thoughts as well . His humanity makes him a real human . I know a lot of people think we are all human , but I don't think that . It's my point , if you do un-human activities . Why should you be included as a human . If we start at this point , now . We can only all become a better human . See if we say he or her is un-human then we start to become un-human if we act on it . So we must help them to change . There is still one point in this , I don't know . How do we handle a murderer or a rapist . Why keeping to this ideal ? But thank to the makers of the story .

    Scientists discovered bacterium in a Japanese waste site that evolved to eat plastic in 2016. A few months ago they modified the enzyme from the bacterium and created a better version (PETase) that can break down PET plastic in a few hours. Scientists are now working to further modify PETase to remain stable at 70 degrees Celsius (158 F), the temp which PET becomes soft and degrades 10 to 100 times faster, to make it even more efficient. They hope that within the next decade that they will have successfully modified the enzyme so that the recycling industry can start catching up with the waste.

      The scientists himself actually mentions this directly, how maybe the world should secure enough renewable energy first in case someone goes crazy and starts targeting oil wells.

    • @PaganShagger
      @PaganShagger 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well of course, every country pollutes to some degree, but when it comes to pollution and toxicity, CHINA takes the cake. Simply walking in smog ridden villages is equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes. China is a high industrial machine with little regard for the environment, clearly. Time is money friend. China has dozens of super projects where they plan to construct massive rivers to flow fresh water into the mainland because of the toxic waste destroying their natural waters.

    • @PaganShagger
      @PaganShagger 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its pathetic isn't it? there exist safe, clean and practical solutions and procedures to prevent this level of pollution but none of which are employed. China, India and a dozen or so countries in Africa produce the most pollution. Of course there are many external and internal reasons why these countries are the way that they are. Its sad and it effects the lives of many people residing in these toxic wastelands. Its been over a century since we experienced the Industrial Revolution, you'd think the ladder would look at history so not to repeat the problems the West encountered. Its just lack of foresight honestly.

    • @infiltr80r
      @infiltr80r 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, we can already look at the examples in other countries. Why doesn't Europe have these problems? Because if the deposit for the bottle is big enough, people will never throw it - especially Chinese who are frugal. So what would these big companies actually gather. Remember, these recycling programs are typically privately run, no private company will allow another party to take advantage of them financially.
      Remember, this is a BUSINESS. There's a lot of profit to be made. How? All the bottles that are destroyed (beer bottle breaks, your deposit is lost forever) and never make it to the machines are pure profit for the recycling companies. In Europe many got very wealthy because of this.

The only reason the women gave was “we don’t know where their going”. Well if you let them use the machine you would know wouldn’t you. Hell those guys are 90% effective. Or get the guys bailing equipment and run trucks on a route to pick up crushed and bailed plastic and glass. The rubbish collectors are poor and dirty. They do not want them at their pretty recycling center. The grocery by my house attracts homeless in the early hours, who return collected cans to buy food. I don't be-grudge them, but if they continue to ask people for money in the parking lot, the grocery store may decide to get rid of their recycling program, just to get rid of the homeless. Many in my neighborhood avoid this close-by grocery, because they don't like being solicited for charity

    In Denmark we have "pant" on bottles and cans (for soda, beer and water), when you buy a bottle you also pay a "tax" (pant), which you get back when you return the bottle/can to a machine like the one shown at 14:20. The pant is between 16 and 47 cents per bottle/can depending on the size. -- Some one use plastics also have a tax to limit the amount used.

    • @ruppedogg
      @ruppedogg 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same here for certain states in the USA. Not a perfect system but that "deposit," seems to work in those that have it. Our tax/'deposit' varies from $0.05--$0.10. I feel like if they raised it to a comparably significant amount as you quoted the Danes having, say ~ $0.50, there's a great chance it would also increase the recycling rate. Wouldn't it be interesting if they'd figure out a way to put it on cigarette butts as well?! Aware of the challenges there but a hopeful experiment. xD

    • @ulalaFrugilega
      @ulalaFrugilega 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have that in Germany as well. Most are too rich to bother with their empty bottles, but we have lots of bottle collectors which can collect that "Pfand". They are usually very thorough, so the litter in parks and on sidewalks contains very few bottles.
      Our system is way too complicated though, as was to be expected from an obsessive bureaucracy like this. Shops only take back the brands they sell, some bottles are exempt from Pfand, and the amount of 8 ct per beer bottle means a ridiculously many bottles for one meal. But it's a good start.
      Cigaret butts Pfand would be brilliant! So would a hefty sum on take away coffee-cups!

    Some of you may be curious about all those bikes. You can ride any of the millions of bikes that are scattered on every street for a whole month for less than 3 dollars. It's insane. So who the hell would buy bikes.
    Anyways, I hope people can understand this:
    It is not that Chinese people or companies or even culture is "evil." China used to be a poor country. Right now the people in the cities (esp the younger people) want to match their living standards to that of more affluent countries in the West (mainly the US). The companies are simply meeting that enormous demand.
    None of this is actually "evil." The problem is that the environment simply cannot sustain that many people living the way Americans do. The population density also allows unique business models that can't be done elsewhere. The on-demand food delivery fee costs less than 2 dollars. Since restaurants are directly competing with each other on an app, they usually offer 20-30% discounts.

    Great documentary. I like the way this huge issue is reported through the overlapping stories of those directly involved/affected by it. Much more material like this is needed. Films like this show that our world is complex and there are never any simple/easy solutions. I make commercial videos for a living here in the UK, but I'd be proud to be working on really worthwhile and well put together content such as this.

    Why aren't They recycling for God's sake? All the takeaways in UK are packaged in recycled biodegradable paper & cardboard & can be recycled. It enrages Me that there are still People like My neighbours putting out 40 black bags every 2 Weeks whereas if They recycled They'd have it picked up every Week. Well, every household will be restricted to putting out 1 bin bag per fortnight soon & be fined if They don't recycle. The Government needs to enforce recycling & start with all those dumped bikes! Send recycling collectors out every Week & send a rubbish collector only once a fortnight. Restrict how many rubbish bags are allowed to be thrown out & make People recycle! Create Jobs in rubbish sorting & recycling waste management & employ the plastic collectors so They can afford to provide decent living standards for their Families!

    • @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543
      @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Carpe Diem I live in the UK & We've been partially limited for over a decade now. Trash is collected only once every 2 weeks. Whereas recycling is collected every Week including food recycling (in the bags made out of rice) & garden waste recycling which includes animal droppings/dog mess is collected Weekly. Almost everyone recycles here now out of choice so We all have next to no trash to throw out if any. But Thanks to the lazy minority of arseholes like My neighbours who eat like pigs & still don't recycle The authorities are setting a long awaited cap on how much trash People can throw out & making it mandatory by Law for these slobs to recycle. It won't affect the majority of Us though as We already recycle. I have just under half a bag of rubbish to put out every fortnight & all it contains is wet wipes & similar items that can't be recycled or flushed. Just about everyone recycles food & animal waste so it can be collected Weekly. Fly tipping carries a hefty fine & often jail so there's very little of it here especially since there are Government facilities where You can take waste but You have to put specific types of waste in the correct designated skips & are supervised. It nearly all gets recycled from there. Things like fridges or ovens, bikes, furniture, clothes. Everything is sorted & recycled from there so You can take it there directly or from outside Your House each Week or the Banks in supermarket car parks. There's CCTV literally everywhere too in the towns so it's a bit hard to get away with fly tipping.

    • @killj
      @killj 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything you sorted for recycling was actually sent to china. None of it was done locally. The UK is now on the cusp of disaster since China banned the import of foreign waste for recycling.

    • @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543
      @rebekahlegionsundaygirljou5543 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +killj I just checked to see if You were right & apparently Yeah, in England, They send a lot of their plastic to China to be recycled & it actually ends up in landfill over there instead! I'm so upset about this!
      I live in Wales & We have Our own recycling plants. A second plant just opened which is actually in My town & a lot of People protested about it being built near Houses because it's a plastic recycling plant & people thought it would cause fumes. I don't know why.
      I wonder if that's why Our Council has announced They're reintroducing the old method of recycling where We have to sort Our recycling into separate types? I know where Our food & garden waste goes & it all gets recycled efficiently but You've made Me wonder now. Thanks for letting Me know! I'm gonna start a Petition! This isn't right! They're lying to Us & wrecking Our Planet!

You can also see that the back of his home is against the outside portion of the wall, (the driveway or alleyway). He could just bust out the concrete on the back wall of his home and put a nice door so they can enter and exit as they please. He could even make the door wide enough for him to get his motorcycle / atv out through it so he can continue collecting recyclables and continue to provide for his family.

    I really really really feel pity and helpless for their children...just because of their poor parents desires,they are born and they have to struggle everyday (including 1 month old babies)..
    These poor stupid people should be locked away and force them to stop making anymore babies but let the rich/middle class people adopt their children and give a better life cuz these kids deserves 100% comfort in their childhood...

    My buddy and I were talking about plastic products last night.
    I mentioned California banning plastic straws with the intent to start a conversation about straws being a minor problem in the world since straws are a minor problem.
    All he said is that it was a good idea, which it is, and that all plastic products should be banned. I thought about it and after a bit of discussion we both came to the conclusion that most plastic products need to be banned, not all since some products need to be plastic to exist. All others should be illegal.

      All plastic products. Even "most" plastic products...Think about that. You need to find viable alternatives first. Packaging is one thing (and millions of people would have to reskill and find new jobs) but ALL plastic products?
      Whatever you replace those plastic products with needs to be better for the Earth. Paper? How many trees can you grow sustainably to support a paper-based economy/infrastructure? How do you deal with the manufacturing pollution from paper production?
      I'd LOVE to see an end to the oil industry and have it replaced with something miraculous. We need to do something and fast. Until "something" is developed to replace plastic, there ARE recycling solutions out there as well as enzyme based disposal/breakdown waste solutions.
      Nothing is ever so simplistic or black and white as "hey, we should ban all plastics!"
      I'll bet you are using a device made mainly of plastic right now. Let's see you make a paper computer!
