    "We have a lot of requests from Europe because the Emeralds from Afghanistan are the best in the world", Raphael says. He's a Frenchman who first came to Afghanistan to train Afghan security services before venturing into the emerald trade. He sees a huge chance here to exploit a market that could easily increase in value twenty or thirty-fold, but the obstacles are not inconsiderable. Just to get to the mines Raphael has to travel the 150 Kilometres from Kabul to Panjshir, right through Taliban kidnap country. When he gets there he finds an industry in the dark ages, where homemade pyrotechnics are exploded in poorly dug mineshafts, killing many miners and ruining the quality of up to 75% of the stones they dig.
    "If you see the damage being done to these stones... so much is lost", Yama Torabi from Integrity Watch Afghanistan tells us. The government here remains hopelessly out of touch with the industry that "still (uses) a mining law adopted 100 years ago". But as the country prepares for elections and Europeans like Raphael open up the gem trade here, could this be a beacon of hope for the future?

      janjan55555 , religion did not help any one , of course all the thieves around the world use religion, as thier first tools, the only chance afghan could have it was soviet , but they blow it, and let Nato come to Afghanistan and give them, nothing just misery and killing and destruction of thier nation,also crazy Taliban from Pakistan and saudi arabia, so afghan lost what they had, and Nato mad afghan penny less, and close to 700 years back in century, specially destroyed life of woman in this old country, as wise man said, if you want kill one nation close hand and mind of woman . as mother , daughter and wife. ,

    • @janjan55555
      @janjan55555 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      desertrose21359 Actually the Sovjets were tricked into Afghanistan, they never wanted to invade Afghanistan to begin with.
      Clearly you don't know Afghanistan, because the memory of SOvjet Russia bombing nearly every town and city of Afghanistan is very much still vivid!! They still remember this period, where all they could fight from was from the mountain sides, where no tanks/troops/airforce had advantage!
      So you'll have to be corrected, Afghanistan was better off pre-Sovjet invasion, because the sovjet invasion and the NATO-invasion are both linked; both due to resources and strategic control. Some Afghans still remember the times when Afghanistan was a Kingdom and they had peace and stability and after they humiliated the British again and again, they had a moment of prosperity which they now look back onto with tender feelings.

    I’m a first generation America with Afghan parents. My grandma was a merchant before the war and she tells me stories of the things she would sell before her family had to leave to survive; ancient books from old rulers, antique jewelry made with the finest jewels, beautiful traditional gowns and stunning Afghan rugs. Watching this burns my heart. I’ve always wished to visit Afghanistan but that is not realistic because of the war. Hopefully I can study business and help them rebuild the economy that was fueled by the rich culture of Afghanistan. I pray peace makes it’s way to Afghanistan. Filled with culture, delicious food, amazing people, striking history; all lost from war.

    If even one person with even a little bit of wealth invested a tiny portion into these miner's project, not only would they profit, but the miners could use more modern extraction techniques, which would result in bigger and higher quality gemstones, along with the bonus of safer environments and less accidents for the miners.. It truly is sad that so much money is wasted elsewhere in the world when lives could be made better for so many and also profit for the investor...

Walking along the mountains, there is massive amounts of quartz and Smokey quartz which I found a few pieces of. They really have a massive amount of gemstones in that country. There was a massive mining operation near spin boldak on the Pakistan border we were told we weren't allowed to go to. Turns out China is mining all sorts of minerals out of there. If the Afghan people could come together on the mining they really could be an economic powerhouse. They also have some of the most fertile land I've ever seen.

    I love Afghanistan persian its so ancient and currect! Its like the persian spoken in all of Persia 1000 years ago 🤩 Iranian persian (specialy tehrani) is very much a mix of many languages and dialects, does't have a currect structure and even the sound they make is made up, its not connected to the rooths of persian language, i love afghanistan and the people and the culture, i love that they wear ancient hats and cultural customs and turbans, i cant describe my love to afghanistan 🥺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🇮🇷🇦🇫
    In Irani we gonna say "i go back" we say "bár me gardam" but afghanis say "Pás me rem" 😍
    Also we Irani gonna say "I take rest" we say "esterahat me konam" but afghanis say "rokhsaty darem"😍
    Also the word "them" in Irani is "una" in afghani is "Ua" comined of "U" and "ā" which is very old persian.
    So ancient i love the Dari literature 🔥

    In the country where Mafia, Thieves , corrupted Government officials and a big majority of careless people exist not billion but Billions and Billions of Dollars will make no difference to poor's life. These series go on and on for couples of centuries.
    These money go to few's pocket. International Banks are benefiting from these money. We always blame others for our misfortunes ignoring the facts that we ourselves bring those misfortunes upon ourselves.
