    Very well thought out and excellent work! If I were to do anything different I might have used sheet aluminum for the index wheel. I am bad about over kill! LOL!

    Assuming you only have one lathe, the adjustable length arm isn't necessary. The rest is spot on. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

    Perfect - just what I was looking for. As a suggestion if you make another - nail your disk to a board, clamp board to pillar drill bed, then the disk can spin at the right radius for the circle of holes. Just eliminates one of the potential errors?

      Thanks David that's a great suggestion. Geoff

    Reminds me I need to remake my index wheels since I've changed the lathe. Was going to try and do it on my small CNC but being accurate with play in the z axis and size restrictions is the issue
    You might want to number the holes, especially useful if you do an open segmented work which I find more enjoyable and easier than closed segments,

    • @luvwud
      @luvwud  ปีที่แล้ว

      Open segmented is something still got to get round too Paul. How do you mean numbering? Geoff

      Hi Luie thanks, hopefully it will inspire people to make instead of buy. Geoff

    Nice one, I have a more hybrid approach as I was able to buy only the disc from Paul Howard before he retired. I made my own arm and it works fine.

      Thanks for watching, I did consider this, but was just put off by the price.

    Great demo
    Very interested in trying this myself ,would it be possible to get a copy of the template used to drill the indexer.
    Thanks again for the demo

      Hi sorry for delay in getting back to you. Yes of course I have it in Fusion 360 or Sketchup. Send me an email (see my about) and let me know which or both that you want. Geoff

    Would you have a video on how to make the cam clamp?

    • @luvwud

      No really sure which part you mean?

    I don't have indexing on my old CL1 but I do have an old Titan Multistar chuck with indexing holes. Watching your video has given me an idea to make a fixing like yours for this chuck as I've needed indexing in the past.
    How do you rate your Stratos FU twister? If I ever can afford to upgrade my lathe a bench mouted twister is the lathe I'd go for.

    • @luvwud
      @luvwud  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Miss Tee, glad it's inspired you. The twister is a lovely machine, this is with the legs which having had a bench mounted lathe before is far more solid. Geoff

    The thread on the screw will eventually enlarge the hole on the disk. I would had preferred at least aluminum disk then timber, and practically "no play at all"

    • @luvwud
      @luvwud  ปีที่แล้ว

      I made the hole sized to the non-threaded part, it will eventually wear out but i've proved the theory of my method, so I could make the next in alum. Thanks for your comment, Geoff
