Holy shit this looks good, you seem to understand what 90s fps really means. Too many so called "boomer" shooters just seem to understand surface level elements. I'm keeping my eyes on your project cause I really want to see it bloom into something fantastic. My advice going forward would be to not get too ambitious. You're an inspiration.
Holy shit, the style fits so fucking well, everything is animated so well, gore effects are well done. Only issue is the sounds could be a bit more punchy, but this is looking super super promising so far, keep up the good work.
Great job, the variety of enemies and behaviors is very good. I don't know if it's an inspiration, but it reminds me of Red Faction in some elements, mainly textures and models. By the way, what is your process for creating and designing maps? I would like to see your process and the tools you use.
Great video I love the project. More on how you get the trench broom work flow to work for you would be awesome. I could never get comfortable with it. The assets alone here are so beautifully done and the style works really well not to even speak on the animations and game feel seen here. Would be really great to see more and I hope you take this as far as its vision deserves.
I gotta say man, theres a lot of retro games that manage to get close the look but youve definetly got the right feel going on here, stuff like the UI is definetly a enhancer id say, you got the right feel down here.
Great project looking forward to how it turns out! Really appeciated your explanations with code snippets. Hope to see your tutorial videos on such subjects on top of your first fps tutorial video, i am new to godot and need help.
awesome man i really want more of your tutorials waiting for those videos too and this dev vlog is very informative unlike others this devlog answered more of my questions like i am a noob at game dev and your fps tutorial and now your evlog is helping me alot thanks man (still looking forward for the tutorial on pick up items and wepon switching)
I have my wallet out and am pushing money into the screen but nothing is happening... In all seriousness, great concept you've got. It already looks great. I'm getting heavy Quake and early Turok vibes, and neither of those are bad things! When you launch, I'll be there anxiously awaiting what you've created.
wow, this looks like an unreal/quake/hl-like that went under my radar, and I just learned about it existing and I imiidiately want to playthrough it! Amazing vibe. and the sttory is not too bad. archeologist turned alien-hunter is an amazing combination, there is also a pinch of mystery of the arcadians. Nobody ever tried to put a scientist in an enviro-suit to fight off aliens right?? ;)
I've been following you since you started this project pretty much and I am thrilled by every news :) As a Godot ans 90s games enjoyer, I am looking forward to taking Klostyn for a spin. I think your devlogs would be better if you could record yourself talking, but I understand why that could be complicated.
Oooh I'm looking forward to this! You're really hitting all the sweet spot of what defines late 1990's FPS games. I especially like your decision to use MIDI music as well. Will there be a way to change soundfonts with this? Either way, good luck on your Klostyn project!
I'll cross my fingers and hope that we will see public demo of this game some day. Looks very promising. P.S. Please don't place on screen subtitles at the bottom of the video - youtube player seekbar overlap them.
For the music. I would have preferred a style of music made in the Tracker module, similar to what is played in games like Unreal, Deus Ex, Jazz Jackrabbit, Crusader, Age of Wonders and various demoscenes like Second Reality. This taking as a source of inspiration composers like Alexander Brandon, Andrew G. Sega, Peter Hajba, Daniel Gardopee and Michiel van den Bos. The only Boomer Shooters that I remember that use tracker module music are Ion Fury and Hedon Bloodrite.
Damn your style is sick I've literally been wanting to dive into this exact style of textures and models lately, can you share any good guides on character texturing and UV mapping/unwrapping?
man you should teach how to do all of this stuff, like melee enemies, how to do the graphics and animations. Make a course in udemy I don't know. I like everything you do, but have no idea how to do any of this stuff.
Very nice. But why not just have the head mesh as a separate model on top of the main one? So you don't have to swap models at all? You could also go ut2004 way and have it so that the main model is literally just the pelvis and the thighs, and everything else is a removable attachment.
Te not so clean hud for me is really nice, i allways loved the more elaborated and themed hud of old games and fps, really not a fan of minimalist hud... Not a fan of minimalist stuff in general

Excellent, You accomplished the art style very well!

Yay ❤
Love that!!! Are you planning to do any coding livestreams?
This looks alot more like a 90s shooter than alot of the modern boomer shooters, looks very interesting
This is looking awesome
really cool that you use sculpted clay textures, very old school
Nah man this sh*t gonna be lit! 🔥
Everything in this devlog has me feeling more excited.
I usually don't say this, but your project really looks promising!
Looking forward for a public release, you're making an amazing job
looks cool
looks amazing. if possible add CRT filter options for an even more authentic look.
Genuinely the most exciting Godot project I've seen so far, keep it up
Red Faction combined with Quake? Sign me up!
Great job, the variety of enemies and behaviors is very good. I don't know if it's an inspiration, but it reminds me of Red Faction in some elements, mainly textures and models. By the way, what is your process for creating and designing maps? I would like to see your process and the tools you use.
looks epic
very nice
Looks pretty promising. I'm looking forward to the Steam demo!

one of the first modern games to actually get a realistic looking old game style nailed
I gotta say man, theres a lot of retro games that manage to get close the look but youve definetly got the right feel going on here, stuff like the UI is definetly a enhancer id say, you got the right feel down here.
you’re the absolute master of this stuff
Great project looking forward to how it turns out! Really appeciated your explanations with code snippets. Hope to see your tutorial videos on such subjects on top of your first fps tutorial video, i am new to godot and need help.

Fantastic job so far, keep up the great work!

Siiiiick
Looks great!
Very excited for this
i like this channel , my new favourite .
🎉 Definitely cool. If you ever get around to transformations, those are fun.
this might actually look like a game that came out in the late 90s as one of those Quake clones like Chasm the rift.
BRAVO!!
dude u are my favorite channel rn
Real great stuff 👍😀
this game looks so badass cant wait for more devlogs
I have my wallet out and am pushing money into the screen but nothing is happening...

Bro you are talent
epic
Finally a 90's style FPS that actually looks and plays like it's from the 90's.
Definitely will add it to steam wishlist if you plan to publish it after development.
we are improving as a society A LOT
Looks amazing
This is genuinely the exact type of game Ive been wanting to play
Did you do the music?
So inspired by you broski!! Locked in and making a game I can't wait to play!
i love the art direction here!!!

That looks incredible
Loving everything I see, keep it up!!!
Great video! Definitely going to follow you and your project
This is really cool, great work.
Interesting for a boomer shooter enjoyer, but fascinating as a developer. Great work here, looking forward to this

Thank you! (I didn’t include my voice because my English pronunciation is suck, and I was worried it might be hard to understand.)
Nice
What tools and/or plugins do you use to model enemies? Blender?
Yeah, As you can see in this video, I use Blender to model enemies.
amazing work
Cool, nice

Apologies for the inconvenience caused while watching. I'll make sure to place the subtitles in a different position in the next video.
I swear to god if this wouldn't come out I'm gonna crash tf out
thats insane

OH MY GOD THIS IS AMAZING, MY MANS JUST DECIDED TO WAKE UP ONE DAY AND REINCARNATE QUAKE/DOOM/UNREAL
Damn your style is sick

Sicckk
Looks good but please add an option to turn off this camerashake because it will be giving headaches after 5 seconds :/
TAKE ALL MY MONEY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have any tutorials on how you make graphics and models?
Steam? When?
Very nice. But why not just have the head mesh as a separate model on top of the main one? So you don't have to swap models at all? You could also go ut2004 way and have it so that the main model is literally just the pelvis and the thighs, and everything else is a removable attachment.
I chose this method because the cut sections and the head didn’t align properly, which made it look awkward. But thank you for your suggestion!
How do you work with audio design? I don't know how to get that retro enemy hit sound when you shoot them everything I do sounds off?
This looks insanely good but I’m instantly depressed that it will be in EA on steam for years lol
No steam page?
Not yet, I don't have one.
Interesting. I like that you show code snippets but they’re hard to decypher. A better coding convention would be nice
Te not so clean hud for me is really nice, i allways loved the more elaborated and themed hud of old games and fps, really not a fan of minimalist hud... Not a fan of minimalist stuff in general
All I see is screen shake
Okay - you've got me interested - support me and I'll be an observer)
Good luck)
Looks great!
very cool
