I’ve had issues for so many years, my mom said I was always constipated and straining even as a baby, then I struggled with addiction, unfortunately opioids which made it far worse, getting clean while taking suboxone kept the problem going, it’s been a consistent issue for a long time. What’s helped me so far was: 1. An elevated foot stool for the toilet, I think it’s 7 inches to be in the ideal position to go. 2. I drink lots of water right when I wake up (it’s hard when you feel bloated so I do what I can and don’t overdo it) 3. I add boulder salt (electrolyte salts on Amazon) to my water so it doesn’t run right through me. 4. I learned my digestive enzymes are low so I supplement with those before a fatty meal. 5. I’ve tried all kinds of enemas/suppositories, saline enemas ended up helping the most in emergency situations, but everyone is different, just make sure you’re WELL hydrated whatever you choose because a lot of them pull water into the stool to soften it, which can leave you dehydrated, ALSO doing gentle stomach massages while on toilet with feet elevated helped things move around, move clockwise in circular motions, TH-cam has some good videos on this, it made a huge difference in output during enemas for me. 6. It got so bad one time I went to the hospital (they did nothing) so I went in for a colonic somewhere in LA, took my bloodwork and hospital paperwork with me and asked questions, that’s how I learned my digestive enzymes were low, it was expensive but imo worth it, I wouldn’t do it too often because I would think it could throw off good bacteria over time. 7. The Dr from the colonic place also suggested magnesium bicarbonate (after subtly bashing every electrolyte powder I told him I’d tried) per his advice I buy mine from LivePristine, they have premade bottles of liquid, or a tub of powder that you mix in with carbonated water let go flat and drink. It’s expensive but the powder lasts a long time, & you can make it in bulk, you just take 2 oz nightly (also helps heartburn, sleep, and stress) I’m still trying to figure out what foods are causing me so much trouble and am over 1/2 way done tapering off my suboxone, still struggle with some bloating and everything isn’t perfect but I haven’t had any ER visits, or pain that makes me fear my stomach is tearing open. I’ve had fissures in the past and hernias, be careful not to overuse any laxative/enema/suppository medications and always try not to strain. Just elevate your feet lean back and massage your stomach. Gentle stretching/yoga videos for bowel mobility. Be kind to yourself and patient, you will figure it out 💕 ^ This isn’t advice just what’s worked for me, if my situation is similar to anyone’s I’d like to share what helped me, but really everyone’s different and for every problem there’s a solution, but different problems require different solutions. Hey I have some what similar problems..it's not from my childhood but I used to smoke weed in my highschool now I am a university passed out.. and clean for somewhat 4 years.. My constipation started in my highschool and it had become worse.. I even got piles due to this condition.. I am suffering a lot it's my lifestyle I need to study for long hours so I have to sit the whole day... Today I felt like why is this happening to me.. I am bloated as hell and can't eat anything can even drink water anymore.. what should I do can you please guide me..

4 yrs ago I had a Colon resection, they removed 14,15 inches. But I still have trials everyday. Thanks for the suggestions I will definitely try. I already use a stool for my feet. I also am caring for my husband who is now in hospice care at home.

I used to be constipated even though I exercise regularly. I started eating some sort of dark, leafy greens, beans, and cabbage every day (or nearly every day). I promise you that you will NEVER be constipated again -- and I mean NEVER! -- if you eat these foods regularly.

I used suffer severe constipation, than a friend of mine suggested ripe kiwi! It worked it magic for me! When I feel the need I eat 1 or 2 kiwi and the day after the problem is solved.
My boyfriend's mum has IBS-C, and we always share our latest troubles about it, with each other, as I feel she understands about it, a lot more than others do. We have IBS in common, so it works. I always enjoy seeing her and talking to her anyway. With or without the IBS discussions. It helps to be able to talk to other sufferers like her, about it. Hopefully I'll be meeting up with her again soon. I always enjoy my little chats with her. She's a jolly soul.

You can also try eating only one or two meals a day or even better, fasting for an entire day by just drinking water mixed with small quantity of honey every two hours. If you still can't poop, take lukewarm water enema which is quite safe and relieves your constipation immediately.

Put 1tbsp of turmeric in hot milk and drink in the morning and don't eat breakfast till 1 hour just walk 15 mins to half and hour then ur good to go trust me this is the best thing and easy thing to do
I do it twice a day every morning. The first 💩 would be after I take a glass of warm lemon water after I wake up and second 💩 would be after my breakfast which includes coffee ☺️
I used to drink warm water with lemon first thing in the morning, but l learned that with acid reflux, this is harmful, so l don't. It's good to talk about those things that may embarrass us, especially when it comes to health. I remember my nursing days and I always approached it like, business as usual. It was just part of the whole day. Like breakfast, medicines and physical therapy and visitation. If you're comfortable about it, your patients will be too. And that's a plus.
It's knowing who I can talk to about it, without feeling humiliated. That's only about five people then, but I obviously trust these five people quite well. There's reasons why I don't trust others as much.
I solved my constipation problem instantly without any medication. Just by not drinking the water in between the meals and also 15 minutes before and after the meal.
@@Cronosorous. in the beginning it may look like very tuff to avoid drinking water, if you find it's very impossible, then you can try having little bit of hot water. Only for a month or two.
Guys if you're suffering from constipation from the last three days with back pain, it is because your intestinal area is swelled. So, If you drink 2 litres of water. I have the opposite. 8+ times a day!! Watery hell. My gut is completely destroyed. Just wiping makes me want to cry most days. I had gastric bypass back in 2007. Ok so drink COLD water. I need something to slow down the runs. I do drink coffee. 1 to 2 cups a day.
Have you Tried a parasite cleanse? Look into Wormwood, black Walnut and clove tincture.. but must use a binder for die off. This might be your problem. Good luck.

You can try doing some hip rotation exercises. Do it like 30 minutes after food or a heavy meal. It helps with bowel movements. Since i started doing hip rotation for the month, passing motion has been much smoother for me, of course you still need to take moderate fiber from foods and drink sufficient water at the same time. It works for me, though a smooth bowel movement takes into account other factors too. You can try to see if it also works for you.

I had an accident and broke my leg, in wheelchair, I’m constipated . I drink lots of water, salads, coffee once in morning. I just took a Stool Softner it worked!
@@simakharate9655 drink prune juice on an empty stomach, especially in the morning it will also help you go back to bed cause of the potassium. Just don’t drink prune juice if you have things to do like going shopping otherwise you will be running, looking for the nearest toilet
Don't forget lubing up! Ayurveda says to warm some sesame or olive or other oil, rub it into your whole body, leave it for at least 20 minutes, then shower or bath or just wipe most of it off with a towel. Very grounding and helps move the bowels. Welcome!

I lived in China for 2 1/2 years and didn´t liked it the toilets... and preferred the western style ones... BUT NOW I finally get it... and it makes all the sense!!! 4-5 years ago i gave every adult family member one of those stools that slide into the base but you pull it out to poo. Wonderful! My youngest daughters husband said thank God, now I can have my laundry basket back! We roared!!!
Useful information especially about sitting on the toilet and establishing a routine time to poop. I have suffered constipation most of my life and more so now as I get older. I eat a well balanced diet , no alcohol, fizzy drinks, fast food fried food etc.. cutting down on fibre because it was making the problem worse. Don't what else to do really. Maybe I don't drink enough liquids will try this week.
Digestive help doesn’t get talked about enough I didn’t realize how many other people suffer from h this . I am a bus driver so it’s a struggle trying to drink water and find a bathroom so I suffer from not drinking enough and when I finally do drink I’m going to the bathroom so much from all the water . Sounds like a fine schedule. Imma going to search around to five foods that are probiotic, etc. My intestines are unremarkable. It's was so vicious that I had a mix of Smooth Move herbal teas and Metamucil. I also took a 5 doses of Milk of Magnesia within the three weeks of the excruciating constipation. The whole unfortunate event was very frightening.
@@tequilla1432 i still don’t have a completely reliable cure, i’ve been going to a gastroenterologist and she advised me to eat a lot of fiber, have a healthy diet, and take a full cap of miralax in coffee a day, and after a couple months i’ve started to poop regularly!
So, I use 1 teaspoon in 1 cup of water in the morning on an empty belly. I also take the same at night before bed. It's called: mismo magnesium chloride. You can buy it online. I got mine from a colon hydrotherapy clinic. This gets me moving. So much that I have had to cut my dose down sometimes. Trust me, be near a bathroom. It has made me more regular 1 - 2 times a day like a normal person. Everyday too 😊

This works. I was constipated for 2 days. I did the yoga pose and I drank to cups of hot water with 2 prunes about 10 mins later I was able to go. Much relief. I know exactly what I did to get constipated I eat really healthy and I bulk up on my fiber but I wasn’t really drinking my liquid like I normally do. And fiber bulks up your stool. if only we never had to go to the bathroom (sigh), everyone's life would be so much easier and better. I use senna in tablet form to help move things along when necessary and dried prunes if I start to experience discomfort in my abdomen..
I hate constipation I like when I get that out of my stomach. Then the gas & the bloating is the worsted. Then it got worse when I had two mastectomies. I hate the swelling it is uncomfortable. Then when you have a underactive thyroid you get constipated from that. I have had constipated since I was a child. I remember when I stayed with a women when I was about ten years old I was constipated. She had to give me something to relieve it.
Trust me, mineral oil works great. It just takes about 6 to 8 hrs to work. I had severe constipation and tried everything, and the mineral oil was the only thing that worked.
Coffee used to send me right to the bathroom, but after a while, like with most foods that used to send me, my body got used to them and stopped reacting.
Try Fiber powder with propel water with electrolytes and I have a warm feeling you'll thank me for this advice,no I'm not a doctor but when I tried this that problem wasn't a problem anymore ! .

That warm water first thing in the morning helps. I hv to drink at least 32 oz, but it works most of the time. My constipation is the worse. You feel awful
I am 67, and suffered with constipation for years. Recently been through a nightmare called Diverticulitis. I am trying to get back to live a normal life by changing my eating habits. I do have trouble crouching because of my knees, Can you recommend some light exercises apart from walking, for my age group please.

I used to be constipated even though I exercise regularly. I started eating some sort of dark, leafy greens, beans, and cabbage every day (or nearly every day). I promise you that you will NEVER be constipated again -- and I mean NEVER! -- if you eat these foods regularly.

Tips that work:
1.When you wake up drink warm water 16 to 30 ounce.
2. Go for a 15 min brisk walk
3. Then drink a cup of coffee (I prefer a cappuccino)
Note: The day before Incorporate more fiber in your diet via fruits. Try berries and banana shake and start walking. The next day start routine listed above.

My boyfriend's mum has IBS-C, and we always share our latest troubles about it, with each other, as I feel she understands about it, a lot more than others do. We have IBS in common, so it works. Thanks for your useful tips, Joanna! Being a vegetarian and having dinner by 6 pm helps too. You can also try eating only one or two meals a day or even better, fasting for an entire day by just drinking water mixed with small quantity of honey every two hours. If you still can't poop, take lukewarm water enema which is quite safe and relieves your constipation immediately.

It's good to talk about those things that may embarrass us, especially when it comes to health. I remember my nursing days and I always approached it like, business as usual. It was just part of the whole day. Like breakfast, medicines and physical therapy and visitation. If you're comfortable about it, your patients will be too. And that's a plus.
It's knowing who I can talk to about it, without feeling humiliated. That's only about five people then, but I obviously trust these five people quite well. There's reasons why I don't trust others as much.

I solved my constipation problem instantly without any medication. Just by not drinking the water in between the meals and also 15 minutes before and after the meal.

I cannot eat or drink so two things have worked for me: sitting in a squat position until I feel things going down, and going for long walks. Many households in the middle east have toilets on the ground where you have to squat to do your business. It is considered very healthy

You can try doing some hip rotation exercises. Do it like 30 minutes after food or a heavy meal. It helps with bowel movements. Since i started doing hip rotation for the month, passing motion has been much smoother for me, of course you still need to take moderate fiber from foods and drink sufficient water at the same time. It works for me, though a smooth bowel movement takes into account other factors too. You can try to see if it also works for you.

To some people oats scrape off the stomach lining from fiber content in it and lactose intolerance create excess acid.

Don't forget lubing up! Ayurveda says to warm some sesame or olive or other oil, rub it into your whole body, leave it for at least 20 minutes, then shower or bath or just wipe most of it off with a towel. Very grounding and helps move the bowels. Welcome!

4-5 years ago i gave every adult family member one of those stools that slide into the base but you pull it out to poo. Wonderful! My youngest daughters husband said thank God, now I can have my laundry basket back! We roared!!!
Useful information especially about sitting on the toilet and establishing a routine time to poop. I have suffered constipation most of my life and more so now as I get older. I eat a well balanced diet , no alcohol, fizzy drinks, fast food fried food etc.. cutting down on fibre because it was making the problem worse. Don't what else to do really. Sounds like a fine schedule. Imma going to search around to five foods that are probiotic, etc. My intestines are unremarkable. It's was so vicious that I had a mix of Smooth Move herbal teas and Metamucil. I also took a 5 doses of Milk of Magnesia within the three weeks of the excruciating constipation. It's called: mismo magnesium chloride. You can buy it online. I got mine from a colon hydrotherapy clinic. This gets me moving. So much that I have had to cut my dose down sometimes. Trust me, be near a bathroom. It has made me more regular 1 - 2 times a day like a normal person. Everyday too 😊

This works. I was constipated for 2 days. I did the yoga pose and I drank to cups of hot water with 2 prunes about 10 mins later I was able to go. Much relief. I hate constipation I like when I get that out of my stomach. Then the gas & the bloating is the worsted. Then it got worse when I had two mastectomies. I hate the swelling it is uncomfortable. Then when you have a underactive thyroid you get constipated from that. I have had constipated since I was a child. I remember when I stayed with a women when I was about ten years old I was constipated. She had to give me something to relieve it.

Trust me, mineral oil works great. It just takes about 6 to 8 hrs to work. I had severe constipation and tried everything, and the mineral oil was the only thing that worked.
Drinking coffee did the opposite for me actually. It makes me bloated and my stomach tends to growl
Coffee used to send me right to the bathroom, but after a while, like with most foods that used to send me, my body got used to them and stopped reacting.

That warm water first thing in the morning helps. I hv to drink at least 32 oz, but it works most of the time. My constipation is the worse. You feel awful
I am 67, and suffered with constipation for years. Recently been through a nightmare called Diverticulitis. I am trying to get back to live a normal life by changing my eating habits. I do have trouble crouching because of my knees, Can you recommend some light exercises apart from walking, for my age group please.
One glass of prune juice every day works wonders

omg, I can't believe how much good information Johanna has given here. as someone with ibs constipation for 9yrs since having my son through emergency c-section and not handling the pain well through recovery and was stressing like I was literally dying. I feel like I love you Johanna Soh for posting a video where your caring for other people suffering from such a horrible condition. 🥲☺
I’ve done that for years ..feet on a stool or something similar about 12 inches of the floor . Definitely helps
