    I've been waiting for Suikoden 6 since 5 came out in PS2, being one of my all time favorite rpg series. The wait is over and i'm enjoying this amazing game! The downside is that Murayama-san passed away, we lost another amazing developer.

    I feel you Derek. I'm one of those people whom this game was made for. All the problems it has don't bother me. But I still hope with all my heart that more people can look past the problems and see the beauty of this game. I wish the developers all the best to carry on Murayama Yoshitaka legacy

    I have been playing the Suikoden franchise since I accidentally stumbled upon the first one back in the 90s as a kid. The concept is what got me hooked into rpgs to begin with. While it is clear it has its problem, it is truly something special and truly delivers and expands on what those titles did. I have lost myself in it since getting it arrived early and have not put it down since! Murayama left us a gem that I hope his team can build on in the future.

    I've only played the first few hours and already I feel like its exactly what I wanted! Some people aren't going to like the "old fashioned" battle system but I love it. To each their own 🤷‍♂ Also, It looks WAY better on PC@4K than any other advertising I've seen of it.

    I love this game! It blasts me with nostalgia and rises up to some new heights. Something I always loved about Suikoden is the variety in gameplay. So many RPGS just do the same thing from start to finish. Having those switches in gameplay always keeps things fresh and interesting. Also if you are playing with english voice acting please stop, unless you just despise listening to non english voice acting. The voice acting is night and day in quality between the two. My biggest gripe with the game so far if anyone from rabbit and bear studios is looking haha. It is the Auto Battle planning, it has a ton of options but feels like it's missing all the most important commands. For example, it needs an attack enemy with lowest hps and a bit more depth for other things. Like use 50% mana or only use this type of item, and just many other things that kind of miss exactly what you need for a good set up.
    On another note is it possible to win the first duel? If anyone has done it I would love to know. I am playing on hard and tried about 10 times, it seems impossible. In original Suikoden you could win if you leveled up, but in this game it didn't feel like my stats really effected the duel all that much if at all.

    • @paladin_butterz
      @paladin_butterz 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm *almost* positive it's a plot automatic loss. I barely made a dent in Seign during the Duel on Normal difficulty, had little to no trouble with any of the battles leading up to it.

      @@paladin_butterz I leveled to 26, put on a health rune and a slash resistance accessory. I was able to make it through the third break point on hard difficulty. So I wonder if you could win on an easier difficulty with that strat or if Seign just insta kills you once you pass the third break point. I was satisfied past the third break point because all the cool action sequences played out haha! But I still can't help but wonder if he is beatable somehow.

    Just starting out on this one, and it's been a good time. I do have some minor gripes about menu navigation and such, but overall, the game feels as if it were a remaster of some 90s JRPG I never played before. It sits right in my comfort zone as a type of game that I just haven't seen in a long time and have long wished we could get more of.

    My one issue with Eiyuden is the text scroll speed ^^’ I can’t find any possible settings, it’s at ~1/3-1/4 of my reading speed, and pressing the button makes it skip, not fill; losing my mind waiting for every bubble to fill

      If you turn off the auto dialogue progression, then it won't skip when you press the button. It will just autofill. Since you're pressing the button anyway to try and autofill, might as well not have auto advance at that point.

    I didn't think the issues with the translation went further than bad localization, but it does indeed go into the same territory as other Japanese games being altered by Western activists. An article by Niche Gamer goes into detail over the localizers involved and does indeed seem they are active in altering content of Japanese games to reflect Progressive ideology, noted in the words of a particular localizer, Brian Grey in an interview he did far back as 2012. I also saw more come out with what dialogue has been effected and it does lean into political territory with terms like "chud" being used, a very bizarre change with Nowa saying "got him!" about an enemy, and Mio saying "You sure it's a he?", which isn't remotely what the Japanese line says.
    This aside the bans on the Discord doesn't put the game in a great light unless one ignores what's beneath the surface. At least as far as the West goes, the Japanese have a clean release not mired in this. There is a mod out there that fixes the localization/translation issues. Hopefully this adds context to the issue people have with the Western release and people not seeing this as a big issue. Your politics shouldn't matter unless one is ideological and expect a quality release, if not, it's disrespectful to the memory of the creator that had clear intent for his last work. There were technical issues with the physical release, which isn't great, but nothing it can't recover from. So continues the battle of fan translations.

Some reviewer even reported that he had to create a save file on an original switch and transfer it to his OLED switch because the game wouldn't even start otherwise. Also the file size is 30GB on the Switch, which is the same file size as PC and PS5. Because of this, it is very unlikely that the cartridge will contain the full game.

      What read poorly then and made several translators infamous rather than respected is something that needs die with the past, not be point of nostalgia.
