Love the Jody Samson story. Growing up watching Conan The Barbarian & Destroyer I loved that Atlantean sword. So much so I bought the official reproduction by Albion & Jody collab back in 2005 when he was hands on in the production. Unfortunately he has since passed away. RIP Jody.
Looked liked a commercial. No questions on better blade steel, titanium scales, offering replacement spring patches for the 6X series, why majority of enthusiasts do not prefer BM’s current offerings, future plans, etc
Love y'alls show. I currently have the crooked river, and love it!! I had a griptilian but I broke the pocket clip and lost it while I was on active duty. Keep up the great work!
I just ordered the orange 51 but I couldn't decide what to make my engraving say so I just got it regular. I called and wanted to switch it to two day shipping and they did it for free! Blade HQ and Benchmade for the win!
Talk about a walk down memory lane. This style of knife was always referred to generically as a “butterfly” knife” and was wildly popular in late 80’s early 90’s. They were sold at practically every gun show and county fair and were universally despised by parents which made them very desirable for teenage boys. I have a low quality Taiwanese one that due to its weight distribution is actually a really good flipper. Under the blade, It had a black sticker “Taiwan” that has long ago rubbed off. On the other side of blade it has “ROSTFREI” actually stamped in metal. The word “rostfrei” is German and translates to “rust free”. My theory is that depending on the venue it was sold one could quickly remove the Taiwan sticker and ask a little more money for it by passing it off as a German manufactured product. Plus a German word on such a knife definitely adds to the taboo factor for an American teenage boy.
Never even touched a trainer, little kid me was flinging the real thing obsessively. Amazingly enough, not one cut. Until I flipped a regular old knife, as stupidly launching a regular old pocket knife it came back down upon me and stuck my leg. Luckily it bounced out opposed to getting lodged in my thigh. Well with adrenaline I felt no pain, quickly looked at my leg... no blood. Thought I somehow avoided getting stabbed... nah. Blood began to flow. Retrospectively, since I was sitting crossed legged, was lucky I didn't pierce my femoral artery. So the moral is that flipping butterfly knives can be dangerous. But flipping a knife not made to flip and do aerials is w2orse
@@joep1551 No doubt that a cop took it. Crooked cops do that crap all the time. The bad rep cops get is from those bastards. However, standing by, and letting it happen is just as bad.
Hans, it must've been so hard to talk about the 6x series with 'just a little more weight'. Christ, the 87 is plenty heavy enough at 5.3; a 4.5 or even 5 oz weight would've been perfect imo. Those 6x are 6+ oz!
I knew the Jody Sampson story already from my Escrima days. I have 4 of the old school balisong's. I'm always surprised how much the older bali's go on the secondary market.
Question of the century...They could make an exact replica to their original 42 Spring latch model and sell out thousands of them...Who knows we have all been waiting for them for years...Actually it would be cool if they were just keeping that in their back pocket for a dry spell when they need to bump up sales for a quarter but I kind of doubt its that simple, lol...
thats a BS excuse they just made a $800 cigar cutter...they could release the 42 as it was exactly and they would still sell out at $500-$600 dealer cost...
Honestly the 51 has so much potential if only they made a 51 v2 with bushings and 5.5 handles like seriously the benchmade 51 latch has a bushing but not the pivots 🙄
"Everything Benchmade makes is warranty for life" well except when I've sent my 51 in because the titanium liner has broken (I have not even dropped it on concrete or anything), they said they couldn't fix it because they no longer have any spare parts for the knife. So really it's "warranty until we still sell said product"
I agree I got a Bali and I regret not spending the little extra and getting the Benchmade I got the Bradley and it fell apart in a week. I actually use And Abuse my knives though.
Can y’all tell me why Benchmade charges so much for D2? Don’t get me wrong it’s one of the most versatile steels out there, and it really depends on the heat treat, but why?
Ya I can assure that benchmade’s last a few lifetimes because I currently have one that has been passed down from my grandpa to my dad and a few years ago to me

In some states you can. I live in Ohio and they're illegal to carry. I don't know if you knew this but almost every state has different laws for things unless it's a Federal law which means that law must run through all the states. Btw I carry a butterfly knife anyways lol. I've been in trouble with the police once but I told them I had a knife on me and it was a stiletto with a oversized blade and all they did was give me a warning and then handed the knife back to me. Some police can be fairly laid back and if you just be polite and tell them you have a knife on you. Anyways sorry for the paragraphs
The 51 went up 30 bucks to about 290 so literally there is no reason to buy it over a Replicant which is 260, the Rep is a better flipper, lots of mods, nice weight, good blade steel (D2 rusts so easy), and are not overpriced.
Since Hans works at benchmade and flips a 67 with longer handles why didn't he tell benchmade to make the 6X series with longer ti handles and bushings.
