Or even play in their own back yard or shallow pool in the yard without being snatched away by some nutter and never seen again. Has happened in the USA. Again it's not the parents fault. I survived a triple murder. I was just 9yrs old. My Aunt, who sadly lost her life, saved mine by putting me in a cupboard. My two cousins lost their lives the same way as my Aunt. The justice system really shouldn’t be all that! The man who took my Aunt & two cousins lives was sentenced to just 15yrs, he served half that got out on “good behaviour.” My family chose to forgive him, I didn’t .. no way. He went on to murder an innocent 12yr old boy. If the system had worked then each of family members lives would have mattered, so life for each of them. That poor would never have been murdered. I walked to school and back on my own from age 7, then I would ride my bike all over until it hot dark. That was in 90ties. Now i have 10 year old daughter and she never goes anywhere alone, ever.
Yup, a little older than this girl my walk was 45 mins each way. Even then "stranger danger" was a big thing, they taught is safety, even then we were allowed to the park and the local river without adults.
I was five in 1983 and I walked to and from school with my sister who was two years older here in New Zealand. Later on we biked separately. There was no thought that it was dangerous.
@deathbycheese850 no she wasn't, you can read the psychologist report online. It's a joke and the fact people eat up what the media tell them is half the problem. Martin Bryant IS seriously mentally ill so by your reasoning we should let him free! I can't believe how narrow minded you actually are!
I read the book about Ebony that the parents wrote. The detective tried so hard to help them and to get him maximum sentence time but his hands were tied and he was so frustrated he couldn’t help them like they needed. That’s why he gave them the number of Anita Cobbys family…it was all he could do. The parents were instrumental in setting up the victims of crime support group that still operates today.
I remember when little Ebony disappeared and how upsetting and horrific her disappearance and murder was. Children should be able to experience life unharmed and untouched.
I drove over the Westgate in the opposite direction not long after it happened, then after I found out what was going on (the police were already there and had him in the back of the divvy van by the time I was going over it), I started avoiding it as much as possible.
These creatures are always ready. They leave home ready, and as soon as an opportunity presents itself, they pounce. There was nothing little Ebony could have done. She's tiny, he wouldn't have to work hard to get her into his filthy car.
No man who could do that to his own daughter should be called a father. Why single out one child? Was it because she looked like her Mum? Hes a narcissistic psychopath and probably a misogynist all in one. He knew exactly what he was doing. RIP little Darcy.
His plan was to do the same to all three of the children, from what the reports stated at the time. I drove over the Westgate not long after it happened, but at least I wasn’t one of the poor people who witnessed it happening. People heading into work that day would’ve been traumatised since he did it in the middle of peak hour.
His plan was to do it to them all..but Darcy was just who he grabbed first. After her brother who was older saw what he did to Darcy he started resisting his Dad and fighting him and asking him what he did to Darcy and the Dad lost his nerve and drove away. Also people driving past had seen what happenned and were starting to stop their cars behind him to try and help her
I’m from England I’ve never heard about Ebony she would be 40 by now….. which is the same age as me. I will never truly understand the Evil humans are capable of. Truly devastating I’ve not seen the comments blaming the mother but yes back then more children walked home and any child should be safe where ever they are in the world .The parents are also victims of this horrific crime leave them alone!!
Trust me it was and still is a very remote road in Bargo. Don't forget in 2010 Mathew Milat from the town of Bargo murdered his friend in the Belanglo State Forrest just like his great uncle Ivan Milat who murdered 7 young backpackers in the same place. Creepy town
Mental illness covers a huge span. Very little of it keeps you from making correct decisions. Right and wrong is understandable by almost everyone. If one commits murder, mental illness should not keep you out of incarceration. Period!

@@TheTrueCrimeChannel nor will she meet the grandchildren she might of had. When a child is murdered the killer also murders the generations that were yet to come.
I remember exactly where I was when it came on the news that Darcy had been thrown over the west gate bridge. I had only just driven across it about two hours prior. I froze. For anyone who doesn’t know, it’s a very high bridge. It’s windy and scary to drive across on windy days. I still can’t believe she actually survived the impact with the water. It would have been like hitting concrete. I can still remember that day. It was a very dark day in Melbourne that day. And for some days following it. The police woman who was first on the scene broke down as she tried to work on little Darcy. It’s was utterly heartbreaking. Especially when an inquest later found that at least two doctors know Freeman was violent, unpredictable and abusive towards his children but they didn’t report it because they thought the courts and police were taking care of that side of things. Devastating. Her mum, Peta, was so dignified and strong. RIP Darcy and all the other child victims. What an awful cruel world we live in sometimes. 😢
I’m so heartbroken about Ebony! This is exactly why I feel bus stops should be directly in front of homes! What’s heartbreaking about Ebony, is the fact he just took her, tied her up and threw her into water! To sexually abuse that little girl, when he had children himself! What a fuggin monster! Mama *YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BE ANGRY, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FORGIVE* you gave Ebony more justice than just sending him to prison by making changes! Hugs Mama! It’s amazing how quick Australian police acted, in America they’d say wait 24hrs! When everyone know the first 24hrs with a missing child is crucial!
The investigators that jumped into immediate action, searching for Ebony, are true heroes!! They were determined to get answers and to help!! My heart breaks for these families!!
Listening to what that disgusting monster did to Ebony just beyond sick. As a parent myself, I can't even begin to understand the pain and torment of having your child murdered in the most brutal way.
Brave family, the nightmare of loosing their lovely daughter in this way is beyond comprehension to anyone. Sadly, to much of this is going on and other families will suffer because of the monsters out there. Those monsters should be locked up for good.
Yes we do, we will never forget those children lost, murdered by these monster cowedly men. On the odd occasion I’ve travelled over the Westgate Bridge, I think of dear little Darcy and her brothers, so sad for her mother waiting for her to arrive at school. He wasn’t crazy, he is evil and it was an act of revenge.
This is so sad. I watched a movie about this. I wished I could remember the name of it. If anyone has seen it to can you let me no please thanks. My heart goes out to her family. May this sweet child rest in peace 🕊️❤
The 90s and years before were so different. I walked home from the bus and was basically unsupervised my whole life. I graduated HS in 1995. These days, I have kept my kids as close as possible- it’s a different time…
The coldest thing was that I was being raised in Australia, Western Australia while this was going on, but I can’t remember when they said that he was locked up for life, I was there from 1970 to 1979, no wonder my mother was very watchful of us as we grew up!
I'm not an Australian but half of my family are and the rest of us are in New Zealand. I've watched many true crime videos as I believe it's the least I can do for all victims. I feel terrible that I have never heard of young Ebony. I am 46 so I'm in her generation. When the bastard was saying what he did and hearihg her mothers pain had tears falling down my cheeks. Her parents and other members of their centre have accomplished so much and have helped countless people. I can imagine that Ebony was looking down on her parents trying to almost give them the support they desperately needed. The mothers brutal words are so needed because although I could forgive a lot I would never forgive someone who harmed my loved ones. I'm so sorry Ebony that you suffered before you died RIP little one.
The judge handed down a life sentence but 23 years later Garforth's classification has been downgraded from an A-grade maximum security prisoner to a B-grade, meaning he can apply for prison jobs and even enroll in a list of courses at the jail. Is this just and fair! If this was my child I'd take justice into my own hands
Arthur Freeman was an arrogant and spiteful pos. Like has happened with many other parents going through a difficult divorce or separation, they choose to hurt their spouse in the worst way possible. That proves to me that they don't love their children. Not one bit. He murdered his precious little girl and he also traumatized his 2 boys for life. RIP Darcy 😢
Evil demonic humans…with black souls destroying one family foundation after another…times are getting more and more chaotic…be careful out there everyone… Poor innocent little girl…I’m so sorry for your loss 🙏🏻
Same. I was driving over the Westgate not long after it happened. They had two lanes on that side closed (I was travelling in the opposite direction after Mrs Bushy #2’s heart specialist appointment), and he was already in the back of the divvy van at that stage (this was at about 10:30-11am) and a tow truck was just getting there to tow his car away. Didn’t know what happened until we got back to Melton and switched on the midday news.
This two hours video is very long but i finished it. Ebony's case made me cry. Darcy case i was shocked and horrified will never forget till the rest of my life
Yk what angers me.. the way they try to say oh he had a rough childhood or blame something in his past for his action's, at the end of the day it was his choice to end a little kids life and if he was insane how on earth was he a enlisted serviceman? I bet he claimed insane to avoid the death penalty.
To Ebony's mum . No you don't ever have to forgive . I wouldn't either . I'm sorry for what you and your family went through and still are going through . May you find some peace knowing what a wonderful mum you were and that these dreadful monsters are out there . Love to your sons and husband . I would absolutely love the death penalty as there's no rehabilitation for monsters . He not a man but a monster. May you go on with rest of your life and. Who are these people to tell Ebony's mother that she shouldn't be angry at the man who took her daughter's life?!, she should be angry!, if l was in her shoes, l too, couldn't forgive that disgusting piece of trash. I hope that in time Ebony's mother will find some peace. 🙁😡
No one should be told how to feel. I lost my daughter 11 years ago and the pain is still as raw and I'm still angry.. she correct, that man does not belong among us, he is a danger and these men do Not change or get better... Hugs
A Prison Officer had been asked in an interview about Garforth's behaviour, the Officer stated that on being instructed to vacate his Cell for Yard time, Garforth had complained that he "couldn't be bothered, that he has a shitty existence"... the Officer said he was livid at hearing this and ordered Garforth to stand up and leave the Cell saying : "after what you've done, you don't get to tell us what you can and can't be bothered doing when that little Girl has no existence at all anymore..", Garforth had sniggered at the Officers comment, upon which the Officer had thrown Garforth at the Cell wall and marched him out to the Prison Yard....

Couldn't imagine the fear and pain that little girl was feeling when someone she completely trusted could do something horrific as to what happened to Darcy, I refuse to go anywhere near that bridge my family feel the same way.
I knew Linda Stilwell in 1967 at Avondale Primary School. At the time of her abduction she had moved schools. I still think of her and her case, and of her family. It was felt amongst some local families that she was taken out of the country via New Zealand as no passports were required between Australia and New Zealand at that time. Hearing that police had checked boats on the area was interesting. I have always wondered whether the Dunedin lady once rumoured to be Jane Boumont could in fact be Linda Stilwell. She did look like her so I questioned it with Dunedin police and Russell Street at the time but was dismissed in both instances. I’m still not satisfied with that.
Innocence of all these young children meet pure evil. Personally would not be able to forgive. At least some good has come out of these pointless deaths. May you always remain Angels
we need australia to start having a register for these predators so we know as parents where they live in our area to protect our children its disgusting that they are protected government needs to stand up and look at this
Horrific in every way! I'm always baffled how/why criminals of this nature get a light sentence , only to be released to do it again! I pray prisoners in Australia are similar to American Prisoners, who do what the Judicial System fails to do; REAL Justice!!
I am glad after all that indecision he was found guilty, otherwise the mother's emotions would remain one of anger. After the guilty verdict she was able to grieve her daughter with the emotions associated with grief and loss. He knew what he was doing. He did it to spite her mother. What a monster!
He threw his daughter over the bridge because he didn't want his ex-wife to have the children. On top of this, he was going to throw the middle child over as well, then the oldest son. He knew what he was doing. The poor little girl tried to fight her dad
I could barely get thru the Ebony Simpson case. I just cried my eyes out. One thing her mum said that rings true. You do not have to forgive to move on RIP Ebony. Much love to your beautiful family
I will never forget the murder of Ebony Simpson. We lived in the town of Bargo . Arena Road was so remote and this little girl should not have been left to go and come from school on her own. R.I.P beautiful little angel 😢❤
I will never forget this day, she looked just like my daughter it upset me warching her play with her brithers, then throw her over in front of them, I do hope they are okay i think of her often and the boys. Xx
If the mom was working don't blame her I never let my kids walk I was fortunate to be a stay home mom but not all moms are home they have to work to support her children bless this mom give her strength Lord. No mom wants this it's not the mom's fault it's the evil in this world not all but some
That's right blame her mother. It has nothing to do with her family. It's the monster who is the only one to blame. Think about what you say. The family has a life sentence.
Forgiveness does not mean setting the guilty person free of their crimes. It means setting yourself free from bitterness because once bitterness takes hold of you it’s not healthy. I’m not saying you shouldn’t be angry about what happened but having bitterness means you are forever thinking about thst criminal who took thst precious life. If you forgive him you are no longer chained to him. You can move on taking those precious memories with you

Do you think judges need to change how they look at mental illnesses in murder cases?
Yes look at the women in Cairns that killed 8 kids and had the chargers dropped @TheTrueCrimeChannel
Psychopathy is a personality disorder, therefore a mental illness itself.
@@bearcatracing007that lady was serious.y ill, and I can't believe how narrow minded some people still are about it.
At least there is that silver lining to this tragedy ❤
I remember when little Ebony disappeared and how upsetting and horrific her disappearance and murder was. Children should be able to experience life unharmed and untouched.
Do you think it changed Australia?
I rarely go over the westgate bridge but when i do i think of darcy everytime. They added higher fencing after this happened
So sad
This brings tears to my eyes because of what happened to Darcey and I've lost family members on the same bridge
I drove over the Westgate in the opposite direction not long after it happened, then after I found out what was going on (the police were already there and had him in the back of the divvy van by the time I was going over it), I started avoiding it as much as possible.
I know the guy who got Darcy out. He was one of the first officer on the scene.
He resigned not long after this
I have never forgotten that day. Clear as a bell in my mind. 🙏🏻 dear little girl😔
These creatures are always ready. They leave home ready, and as soon as an opportunity presents itself, they pounce. There was nothing little Ebony could have done. She's tiny, he wouldn't have to work hard to get her into his filthy car.
That's terrifying to think about
No man who could do that to his own daughter should be called a father. Why single out one child? Was it because she looked like her Mum? Hes a narcissistic psychopath and probably a misogynist all in one. He knew exactly what he was doing. RIP little Darcy.
Such a horrific crime
His plan was to do the same to all three of the children, from what the reports stated at the time. I drove over the Westgate not long after it happened, but at least I wasn’t one of the poor people who witnessed it happening. People heading into work that day would’ve been traumatised since he did it in the middle of peak hour.
His plan was to do it to them all..but Darcy was just who he grabbed first. After her brother who was older saw what he did to Darcy he started resisting his Dad and fighting him and asking him what he did to Darcy and the Dad lost his nerve and drove away. Also people driving past had seen what happenned and were starting to stop their cars behind him to try and help her
@@ayrproductions rubbish. he was just a pig who had to get rid of the girl, thinking it would hurt the mother more
I had 3 young children at the time of darcys death. My daughter was the same age as darcy. Im also in Melbourne and this made me sick, it still does.
Did it change you as a parent?
Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Crazy to think that the case is known around the world - thanks for watching
Trust me it was and still is a very remote road in Bargo. Don't forget in 2010 Mathew Milat from the town of Bargo murdered his friend in the Belanglo State Forrest just like his great uncle Ivan Milat who murdered 7 young backpackers in the same place. Creepy town
Percy... too insane to be convicted... smart enough to invest his navy pension in stocks and collectibles
Interesting point!
Umm...so insane people can't be intelligent?
Mental illness covers a huge span. Very little of it keeps you from making correct decisions. Right and wrong is understandable by almost everyone. If one commits murder, mental illness should not keep you out of incarceration. Period!
@@cynthiat6505... You very obviously do not know NEARLY as much as you think you do about mental illness. Just share your opinion that it shouldn't keep people from incarceration and move on. Your opinions on mental illness are absolutely ignorant.
They were able to manipulate the justice system to cater to Percy’s mental “illness” while not offering 10 year old Shane Spiller the same considerations.
Rest in love Miss Ebony remembering you always darling xx❤️
Such a sad day for her family
@@TheTrueCrimeChannel was living in Sydney when it happened so very sad 🙁
Did it change how people were with their children?
Watching ebonys mum still cry after more then twenty years reminds me that no one should tell a parent to move on especially when they know that an innocent child is murdered not long ago my sister lost her beautiful daughter and two very small children lost thier mum what my sister is going through is horrific she tells everyone how she can’t even think of moving on and sadly right so
It is horrifying - she never got to see her daughter grow up
@@TheTrueCrimeChannel nor will she meet the grandchildren she might of had. When a child is murdered the killer also murders the generations that were yet to come.
There is nothing in this world than a mother who loses her child, especially at the hands of another, part of you goes with them forever!
What an amazing woman! Thank you for helping others❤️
❤
I feel for Ebony’s mother. So tragic. I’d be angry too. I don’t believe I would or could forgive anyone that did what that monster did
That would absolutely be hard to forgive
Absolutely horrific
Those poor brothers. And the little boy on the beach. Imagine living with those memories.
It is heartbreaking
Australia sentencing is preposterous
How should it be improved?
Tried to tell what happened to my family but TH-cam is censoring me...
Sorry to hear that - if you have an abridged version we would be interested to hear it (and we hope that you are ok)
"keep him where he is, it's the safest place for him. Trust me." 😂😂
Ebonys mother's story is heartbreaking but she is pretty bad ass
She's a saint ❤
Darcy Freeman was such a beautiful little girl... I don't understand how a father could do that 😢
So heartbreaking
The investigators that jumped into immediate action, searching for Ebony, are true heroes!! They were determined to get answers and to help!! My heart breaks for these families!!
They did a fantastic job despite the tragedy of the case
Listening to what that disgusting monster did to Ebony just beyond sick. As a parent myself, I can't even begin to understand the pain and torment of having your child murdered in the most brutal way.
It has to be one of the worst thoughts in the world - let alone to experience the real thing
What a very lovely mother! She is a tribute to all of us! And one more thing that precious, beautiful girl…
❤
Brave family, the nightmare of loosing their lovely daughter in this way is beyond comprehension to anyone. Sadly, to much of this is going on and other families will suffer because of the monsters out there. Those monsters should be locked up for good.
It is honestly horrific - we couldn't begin to imagine how their families feel
Every person in Australia knows about all these cases or they should
Which one do you resonate with the most?
The last one.... how could he do that ... throw his daughter away??? So heartbreaking 💔
I'd never heard of Ebony's case before I was 15 at the time.
I've never heard of these cases
This is so sad. I watched a movie about this. I wished I could remember the name of it. If anyone has seen it to can you let me no please thanks. My heart goes out to her family. May this sweet child rest in peace 🕊️❤
So horrific.
I would love to see it, if anyone knows the name , please
The 90s and years before were so different. I walked home from the bus and was basically unsupervised my whole life. I graduated HS in 1995. These days, I have kept my kids as close as possible- it’s a different time…
Never let your young one walk alone.
Do you think times have changed?

The coldest thing was that I was being raised in Australia, Western Australia while this was going on, but I can’t remember when they said that he was locked up for life, I was there from 1970 to 1979, no wonder my mother was very watchful of us as we grew up!
Do you think it changed the way you grew up?
Thank you so much for watching ❤

The judge handed down a life sentence but 23 years later Garforth's classification has been downgraded from an A-grade maximum security prisoner to a B-grade, meaning he can apply for prison jobs and even enroll in a list of courses at the jail. Is this just and fair! If this was my child I'd take justice into my own hands
Do you think prisoners should not get a chance to show they have reformed if they commit a crime like this?
Dont worry..
He,ll be more safe inside, than outside...
And he knows it
Do you think that Darcy can be "brought back to life"?
🙏🏿❤RIP,sweet girl
Arthur Freeman was an arrogant and spiteful pos. Like has happened with many other parents going through a difficult divorce or separation, they choose to hurt their spouse in the worst way possible. That proves to me that they don't love their children. Not one bit. He murdered his precious little girl and he also traumatized his 2 boys for life. RIP Darcy 😢
Pure evil 😈
Horrific cases

Poor innocent little girl…I’m so sorry for your loss 🙏🏻

I remember that day he threw his daughter over that bridge. Horrifying to see 😢
Such a horrific case
Darcy case i was shocked and horrified will never forget till the rest of my life
Thank you for watching!
Yk what angers me.. the way they try to say oh he had a rough childhood or blame something in his past for his action's, at the end of the day it was his choice to end a little kids life and if he was insane how on earth was he a enlisted serviceman? I bet he claimed insane to avoid the death penalty.

That's incredibly interesting - where did you see this interview?

Couldn't imagine the fear and pain that little girl was feeling when someone she completely trusted could do something horrific as to what happened to Darcy, I refuse to go anywhere near that bridge my family feel the same way.
That's totally fair, the memory is simply heartbreaking
You just want to wrap your arms around the families and take away all their hurt. ❤

Absolutely a monster!
He threw his daughter over the bridge because he didn't want his ex-wife to have the children. On top of this, he was going to throw the middle child over as well, then the oldest son.
He knew what he was doing. The poor little girl tried to fight her dad

How can a dad throw his own child off a bridge?
Forgiveness does not mean setting the guilty person free of their crimes. It means setting yourself free from bitterness because once bitterness takes hold of you it’s not healthy. I’m not saying you shouldn’t be angry about what happened but having bitterness means you are forever thinking about thst criminal who took thst precious life. If you forgive him you are no longer chained to him. You can move on taking those precious memories with you
