A Weekend Morning of Brighton Mainline services at Three Bridges, heading around the South of England, United Kingdom featuring 'The Metro Marauder' Southern Class 455 Railtour.
Trains include:
- Southern Class 377s
- 377/1 - Built in 2002/03 - DC Only
- 377/2 - Built in 2003/04 - AC & DC
- 377/4 - Built in 2004/05 - DC Only
- Gatwick Express Class 387s
- 387/2 - Built in 2015/16 - AC & DC
- Southern Class 455s
- 455/8 - Built in 1982/84 (Refurbished in 2004 and 2012)
- Thameslink Class 700s
- 700/0 - Built in 2014/18 - AC & DC - Eight Car Units
- 700/1 - Built in 2014/18 - AC & DC - Twelve Car Units

This was the last day of Southern Class 455s before being withdrawn and most were even scrapped in the pairs shown in this video including the charter pair which was scrapped 5 days later.
All Class 455s shown in this video have since been scrapped at Newport:

Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. Set Number - e.g. WB64 or NL04 - These are semi-permanent loco hauled coach formations which are kept together for formalities. The first two letters usually indicate the maintenance depot responsible e.g. OC is Old Oak Common, LA is Laira. The number indicates the rake number.

this is my local train station, i used to use the Horsham to Peterborough service to go to college and then use the reverse service to come home, and now i use the Peterborough to Horsham to go to work

I must say the filming and attention to the 455s was brilliant! Plus this is a very strange station due to the layout and its actual importance in serving Crawley. Great video!
Thanks IXClubman, as you alluded to, this is actually quite a difficult station to film at due to the obstacles and layout. The 455s were a favourite of mine being camshaft machines and helped to break up all the electrostars in south London. I’m glad you enjoyed 😃
That and much of the signaling of The Brighton Main Line is controlled by Three Bridges PSB.
Three Bridges was my local station for over forty years. Behind the fence on Platform 5 used to be the bay platform for the direct line to East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells, closed in the mid sixties.

What a dispatcher standing in the way of everything
Southern dispatchers are some of the worst for that. Despite all of the passenger trains in this video having coach cameras for driver only operation, GTR still require them to help dispatch. As for the video, it is what it is, I remember him being a nice guy though! 😃

It's a shame those pair of 455/8's were scrapped 5 days after filming. Is any Class 455's going to be preserved?
Hi Craig, amazingly, there are no Southern 455/8s left in existance but SWR 455/7, 455/8s and 455/9s are still used but these use a different traction system and are largely none original. I hope at least one 455/7 will be preserved but they aren't very appealing to preserved railways because they're effectively unpowered. Hope this helps.

Might sound strange but why not do trainspotting at the London Underground or half Rail and underground for eg: trains at Ealing Broadway

455835 and 841 weren't the first to be scrapped, 838 and 839 were
Ahh yes! I got confused because these went just 5 days after this charter.
Thameslink and Southern that are run by GTR should be kept as they are once GTR is over. As Thameslink serves incredible services with their Class 700 Desiro City units that replaced the Class 319, Class 377/5 and Class 387/1.
And perhaps Southern should replace the Class 313 "Coastway" units if they were to order new trains. As they are getting rid of the Class 455 that are heading for scrap.
