    So much has changed from the early days of the channel and yet somehow everything that was good you’ve been able to maintain. This is such quality content and it should be genuinely appreciated. Pound for pound the best duramax content on TH-cam, and arguably the best diesel TH-cam content period. Thank you Josh.

    This is why I watch the Truckmaster. He got something going on all the time. He keeps me in suspense what he's doing and what is coming up next. Josh I've learned so much about working on Duramax when before I just basically drive and take my problems to my local mechanic. Now I'm putting more time under the hood a fixing my problems myself. Thank you for educating me on this. I own a Duramax and a Cummins. So it's definitely helping me by watching your videos. A year ago I wouldn't even try to do the things on my Duramax what I'm doing now.

    I watched a bunch of the previous builds. Respect for cummins, but i’m about the duramax. Had a silver LMM, lost it last year. 272,000 deleted and tuned pretty hot, but the cheap way. Never gave me issues. Was always on point with oil changes and fuel filter changes. Learned about doing the work the right way, and got to see the work done here on your channel. Might be more of a pita to work on without taking the cab off, but it can be done. Haven’t watched in a while, but i see you picked up the project i intend to find. Some LMM with blown head gaskets for cheap somewhere. Put my cash into a motor build, instead of hoping a high mileage truck doesn’t have an expensive problem appear. Watching the diagnosis is great info. Looking forward to watching the head gasket job on the LMM while the cab is in.

    As an 07 lmm owner (260k) still running super great, I am amazed at all information and aftermarket equipment for the Diesel engines. Terms and parts I have no clue about. Expensive parts I'm sure as all diesel parts are. My truck has a bully dog program at which setting I can't remember as all the information was stolen once with the truck. Runs great and pulls 30 ft trailer fully loaded with cattle ( 19-24 @ 600 to 800 pounds each) with no issues. I can't imagine what it would be like using one of your engines. Enjoy this channel a lot

    I really need a second opinion on a problem I have a 2013 Chevrolet 2500 Duramax have oil in exhaust its less after i got a new turbo but it still there. I took it back to the mechanic he took a look at it did some test all day and some research he said everything is fine the turbo needs to be brake in with the turbo seals. He didn't say anything about problems with the head gasket, piston rings, valves, and pcv.

    • @TruckMaster
      @TruckMaster  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s possible it’s your new turbo, the oil can make its way past the turbo seal also because that oil in the exhaust can act as fuel and make your engine run away

    I have a duramax with blown head gasket, you would only know if you drove 75 mph for awhile or towed a trailor on expressway. It leaks combustion into cooling system. Leaks out over flow bottle. They use 3 layer gasket I'm told and leaks under extreme pressure. It's a 2004.
    I bought new, I never overheated it not sure how it blew. It's been 7 yrs now I only use it for snow plowing, it does fine plowing unless we get 12 inches of snow.

    Hey Josh, just thinking about your blown head gasket, yes I think it is, less a head is cracked. What you might do is remove all the injectors and make a threaded air fitting to charge each individual cylinder with air to see if it bubbles back into your coolant. Yer gonna have to rotate the crank/cam to close the valves...good luck!

    I'm a bit confused. What makes us think this truck has blown head gaskets? It's not smoking out the tail pipe, it runs great and stays cool, the only issue it the upper hose is getting hard, but you showed the tear in the hose, so if it was under that much pressure then it should be pissing from there. It doesn't add up to me, and if it was in my bay I would put a rad hose on it and solve it for why the pressure checker won't pump up, which may or may not lead me to head gaskets, but where we're at right now hasn't proven to me yet that I need to go to the work of pulling the heads, there's something else going on here.

    BEWARE: Chevy Geniuses designed the wheels and the wheel lugs so the surfaces are flat on the newer models. The wheels are not concave to support the lugs. So, if they are not tightened with 200 pounds of torque the can loosen and cause the wheel to become unbalanced and actually sheer off the other lugs and the wheel to come of while driving. I learned this the hard way and lost my right front outside of Brazil Indiana and crashed into a corn field. Three of the lugs and actually sheered off from the centrifugal force and when the the roadside assistance showed up the driver new exactly what had happened. Note: No recall ever has bee sent out. Because GM knows they will have to replace al the wheels. I have a 3500 HD.

  • @ng-ht1vx
    @ng-ht1vx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd check to see if the EGR leaks (if it's still there). As for leakdown, upper rad hose is a good candidate, as are the heater lines. On dad's lb7, I did head gaskets at 425,000 miles. It was leaking from the water jacket to the outside of the block on Cyls 1 and 7, and into the cylinder on cyl 8 and possibly 6. But every hose I removed to do that HG job wouldn't seal after. They're original to the truck. So, today we ordered all new hoses for the truck. I tried priming the system dry, and it lost a pound a minute. The ends of the hoses were kinda crunchy. So, in your case, it might not be that you've got one leak, it might be that you've got a bunch of leaks and it's cumulative.
    Also, if the HG have been done once before, it could be as simple as a stretched injector hold down bolt, or someone reused an injector crush washer. That might not have sealed up right. Something had to really go wrong to have had another head gasket problem with studded heads. Unless the previous guy forgot to tighten a few studs all the way.

    I know it not a Ford. But I use a t off the degas bottle hose.then run a long hose with a gauge to where you can see it. Anything over + 20 psi indicates blown head gaskets on powerstrokes. Nice because I can see it move as a throttle it up.

  • @burnerloco4138
    @burnerloco4138 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You can put your pressure tester back on and start the engine and that could tell you if you have a combustion leak if the pressure rises quickly.
    And if it doesn’t than you may have a intake gasket leaking.
    Good luck 👍

    Josh I'm strongly thinking that you might have old coolant hoses that have tiny leaks and take the coolant bottle off and pressure test that cause they do crack at the seams cause if it did over heat when you had that fuel line return issue cause if your not seeing leaks on the cylinder heads it could be that cheap of a fix

    Just did head gaskets and ARP studs on my 2013 LML lifted the cab did a S&S diesel CP3 conversion ppe up pipes and flo pro exhaust. Did a few other things too 😜. Really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. If you have access to a lift it was really not bad to pull the cab.

    I have a 07 lbz losing coolant 300.000 miles on it I could not find where it was going is it a blown head gasket water pump bad egr cooler No drips or wet spots 4000$ head gasket or water pump I don't have money to throw at my problem So as a Baptist preacher I pray Lord you know this truck I n side and out show me the problem The next day I come out of the store and I see a huge puddle under my truck dripping off the transfer case I am so happy to see an external leak rather than internal I go to the truck shop where I drive for and ask how to pressize the coo.nt system a mechanic takes a blow gun and blows a little pressure into the over flow of my coolant reservoir immediately I hear a leak between the turbo and the upper radiator pipe it must have dripping into the valley slowly and evaporating before dripping on
    the ground replace the hose which swollen almost to bursting fixed my problem I hope this helps someone. I know a good mechanic

    i once worked in G.M, a G.M mechanic told me that NEVER use the orange radiator coolant. To switch to the regular green coolant. He told me that their getting a lot of vehicles around 150,000 K.M mileage mark with blown head gaskets and all the vehicles had the orange coolant. He told me he uses the green coolant and went over 400,000 KILOMETERS with no head gasket issues.

    I'm from Algonac Michigan. I have a 2015 Duramax and everyone keeps saying "you have blown head gaskets". The issue I'm having is my hose doesn't stay rock solid after about an hour. My coolant shoots out of my over flow when I shit on those 2020 mustangs and vets on 94. I noticed the hot side turbo pipe has basically every additive I tried caked up through the lower silicone clamp/gasket (take it easy on me I'm new to this bad ass family and truck). It just feels like vacuum. My air filter fell off about a week ago and my truck wouldn't accelerate. Checked mass air flow and there was a leaf just blocking the sensors. My question is, could it be a boost vacuum leak? Could that cause air to build up and shoot my coolant out of my over flow. Also, I noticed I need a new coolant res cap. My truck is deleted by good old granny speed shop and the prior owner only had maintenance done at dealership. I change my oil every month because I commute a lot. I'm just not feeling the blown head gasket thing. However, if the feed back states it sounds like a blown head gasket then I'll travel down that path. I just changed the coolant temp sensor and the high oil pressure sensor (could have part name wrong, it was under driver side and I hired a keeler elf to disconnect the wire, the thing was spewing oil. FYI: I was heading to grayling to grab my dad's camper and my high pressure (coolant line behind resonator) split down the middle and left me stuck on the side of the road. My fiance was driving and I was sleeping so I can almost guarantee it overheated and stayed overheated for about 15 miles before the mug blew. I think that info may be relevant. I hope all of you are having a blessed day and I look forward to your responses.

      I am currently having almost the same issue as you are. I have a 2015 3500hd and the truck can sit over night and next morning I check coolant level. As I take off the cap the over fill side bubbles like crazy like if it had a lot of pressure in there. And other side will rise a bit. If I drive it for about 25 miles low coolant level comes up and I’ll park truck and it’ll start leaking coolant through reservoir side. I was told by 3-4 mechanics that it could be a head gaskets but I don’t want to certainly believe that haha. 170k miles on her.
