You are so helpful. Wonderful to get to know learners and ask students what they are working hard to understand. Tailored lessons are the best!

Honestly that is THE hardest part about a demo lesson in my opinion. Going in blind without any info about the group is just crazy to me, it just makes sense to ask so we don't waste anyone's time!

Thanks for the information! It's great! Unfortunately that popping sound is too much!

Great video! My interviewer sent me an email requesting a "recorded video of yourself presenting a 10-15 minute ESL lesson", are they asking me to explain how would I teach the class? Or to film myself teaching to a group of students? I'm a bit confused!

I read that as a video clip of a direct instruction segment of a class. I would take a video of you teaching a lesson AS IF students were present, but not to include actual students. You can always respond and ask for clarification of their expectations!

I think this is a really stupid and outdated approach -how do you do 5min demo lesson if you don't have topic, age group or even subject. (So basically you just wing it with what you are interested or comfortable with) -even if not relevant!!

I always ask questions about the kids in the classroom, their level, what they've covered, etc.
When I did a demo lesson before, it was actually to a panel of admin and school staff - they just wanted to get a feel for what they MIGHT see.

@SrtaSpanish yes I agree with you In the classroom, asking questions makes sense and is obvious, but doing demo for interview with no topic(subject), student age group seems quite useless it's just as good you ask a mechanic to do demo of how a heart surgery is done -rather pointless!!! So yes, it's basically just to see if you can teach and what they can expect from you as a teacher like you stated.

@@gerard1330 oh! most demos I've seen give a topic and the level to teach, at least. so that's a start.

@SrtaSpanish yeah would make sense then. This is the second one I received without any indication of anything -prob. -just want to get/collect lesson ideas and plans
