Tchaikovsky Symphony No.5 Finale. With conductor Gergiev and the Marinsky Orchestra doing a wonderful rendition what else do you need to enjoy 😊 this superb performance. They’re giving it their all and it’s such a delightful piece. What a genius Tchaikovsky was to compose such a wonderful symphony especially the Finale. You can’t get better than perfection, in my opinion.

Certes, il n'est pas le seul a avoir mis en valeur l'extraordinaire orchestration du grand compositeur Russe, d'autres l'ont fait de façon exemplaire, Mravinsky, Temirkanov ou Abbado, pour ne citer que ceux là. Giergiev fait parti de ces Chefs qui apportent quelque chose de personnelle dans l'interprétation de cette musique. Le DVD des 6 symphonies devrait sortir cette année!

I'm a timpanist myself and have played this a few times. I live for the moment when I get to thunder away at the climactic moment in this movement.

I do like this as well, but the best performance is Mavrinsky and the Leningrad. Gergiev comes very, very close to Mavrinsky.
