Her card is really lackluster, both lorewise and powerwise. She was treated like jc in the story the next Urza with sylex. No passive or ability synergistic/antagonistic with phyrexians or angels. Hard pass.
@@dorukhanozen2580 I think a passive that would be flavorful but not too OP is if she couldn’t be attacked in combat by creatures without flying, since she’s now an angelic walker. Would still leave her open to spells and flyers
This was my favorite of your videos! Honestly, everything you've been doing with this arc so far, it's been amazing. Thank you. Also, I think you'll enjoy knowing that you have at least one Brazilian fan.
Elspeth has always been character I gravitated towards since I got into magic and started learning the lore . Been waiting for this moment since the sylax exploded ..hell Ive waiting for Elspeth to have this moment since she came back and she kinda got it in new capana but not really. now I get to see her go whole angel mode on norn and turn the tide. can't wait for ur next video with her in it
Possible theories in ways to connect Serra and Elspeth: 1. Serra was also born in the plane of New Capenna as well, and she made angels their before making her own realm ( Serra is a creator of Elspeth), and you can refute that angels can't get a spark because of being condense white mana and whatnot but we have other cases of Planeswalkers being exception, source: an old aether Hub video. 2. Similar to the first one but just Serra traveling to New Capenna and saw a bunch of demons, decided to throw some angels there and went away. And since she was a pre-mending planeswalker, their seems to be some powerlevel difference of her angels and naturally made ones hence the significance of halo in that plane (because i don't see ravnica, innistrad, zendikar angels using their halos the same way). Similar to how Avacyn was a made by Sorin and she was a tough cookie. She tipped the scales within Innistrad from the darkness that other archangels couldn't do, hence why Sorin made her. 2. Reincarnation? Past life type of thing like Avatar: the last airbender thing. 3. WOTC stuff :/ Just throwing this out their since my brain meats was thinking
The way Sera made Angels was completely different then how lorewise natural Angels of the multiverse are made. Natural Angels are made purely of condensed white mana and hence have no souls so none of those Angels can have a spark. How Sera made Angels was she used white mana as well BUT used the souls of the dead, so Elspeth becoming the first angel planeswalker actually makes sense since her spark was already active when she died by sylax. All Sera had to do was shape Elspeth's soul like she normally would. Now as to why Sera appeared at all to Elspeth, I think it has something to do with your second theory. Sera DID travel to Capenna hence why Elspeth knew her name as a white robbed goddess. IDK the rest but we may need to wait till other stories to come out to fully explain it.
8:55 Larger moral takeaway: the system is what's at fault, not simply individuals who happen to be propping it up at the moment. For true salvation, systemic change MUST take place, not simply toppling a single tyrant, however powerful.
8:45 I mean... sure anyone can point fingers and blame Urza for unwillingly bring Phyrexians to her realm, but she litterally abandoned it the moment she realiced was tainted, left it to rot and became the shithole that Radiant misserably failed to keep together with duct tape and spit before going insane. At least Urza put it out of its missery.
I'm actually impressed Norn was able to put up with his little rebellion for so long. I'm guessing they finally did him and Sheoldred in because red and black are ultimately incompatible with white and no army with divided ideologies can win.
Somewhere in the past, Karona sought to spoke with representations of the five mana colours. one of which was Teferi for blue, who doesn't recall speaking with Karona. this could be the planeswalker sparks connection to the current mana font of the multiverse like dominaria. hopefully this doesnt start shifting the mana font to new phyrexia as the invasion tree could get so much stronger.
Keep going man, you are awesome and your content keeps up up to date on ideas!!! Don't stop and keep going!!! Love from Houston, love from Texas, love for MAGIC THE GATHERING!!!!
What is the actual powerlevel of a praetor ? 2 of them captured/killed offscreen with ease it seems. Elesh Norn does not seem much a fighter she will be clapped by Elspeth easily. I am more interested in how they will deal with th bs oil.
from what i can guess, the plant things are searching for any leftover blue zombies to infect. otherwise looking for the ore to start processing into phyrexian cores to be more durable.
So just had this thought if this story ends how i think its going to end now with all the planes being permanently connected via realmbreaker. Wont that completely undo all the work and emotional impact of bolas's defeat since he can just waltz off the plane he was trapped in and continue plotting? Ffs kinda gonna be disappointed if that happens would have much rather had emrakul to deal with/ be freed then bolas again also what is going on in the meditiation plane since it is connected to everywhere now and being invaded.
So the spoilers were true. For those who don't know there were spoilers of an Archangel Elspeth card. I usually don't believe the spoilers because not all of them are true or real, So I always take any spoilers with a grain of salt but this one seems to be real.
A big RIP to my boi Urabrask. He didn't get a chance to do anything awesome. These stories have been pretty underwhelming in a lot of ways. They had the chance to make this set bigger than WotS, but really shot their foot with the prime focus on Elspeth as the mcguffin to defeat Elesh Norn. What a shame. P.S. Also Seiben, as always great video!
A McGuffin is an object or device that exists solely to trigger a plot. Elspeth has had a prominent role to play from the beginning and is surely not a McGuffin as you say.
@@mikotagayuna8494 She used to play a large role but from New Capenna onwards it felt like she only existed to move the plot forward. Urabrask going to New Capenna to search for Elspeth, Vivien going to New Capenna and believing Elspeth to be very important. Her taking the sylex into the blind eternities, and now Serra saying she is essentially the saviour of the multiverse when there were many other directions the could have gone. Maybe it's just too rushed but I feel like they've changed her a lot since the original Mirrodin/New Phyrexia story. Its probably just the awful writers they have.
@@CharuzuAutomatonArtificer The writers are not to blame but the rapid release of products and abolition of blocks. There is only so much meaningful narrative you can tell before you're whisked off to another plane to write about dozens of new characters in a new setting.
For some reason, it just FEELS right that Serra is there to guide her.... kinda reminds me of Harry Potter and kings cross station scene with Dumbledore
It was hard watching her "abandon" Ajani cuz I was really betting on her. She made the right choice. Looks like Monday will be our last stories but will everything be wrapped up by then. This will be a rushed ending and very unsatisfying cuz there's so much we don't know Everyone knew she was going to be angel 🙄
Poor Urabrask... also... who are the compleated gods? We know of the as- of Heliod, Elspeth sees the compleation of Purphoros... are they going in order? Thassa and Erebos?
Wait, so besides Heliod, what other god was compleated? And when did it happen? And when did they compleat heliod actually? I have to say, this arc is getting worse and worse with each side story. Why have Urabrask in the story? Just to job him out like this. Same with Sheoldred. Kill off Nissa and Vraska so non chalantly almost like an afterthought? I was really intrigued for the last sets and a few of the beginning stories. I don't know, seems to just not make sense anymore
I feel like lukka was killed off for no reason. I feel like sorin cries too much and is rendered useless. I feel like jace is always talked up to be slapped down. I understood lukka he fought for redemption a chance to be something more than the world abused you to be, or tricked you to belive. He also seemed to ask the question, "what is evil?" Am I evil for supporting my friends and family? For those who loved me more than the ones that rejected and beat me? From lukka's side of things, the good guys aren't much better. I wanted lukka to fight back and become a martyr for his wife or become a hero like Vageta. They just turned him into an abusive ex.
Is it possible...that New Capenna is part of Serra's Realm? Or the Sylax is not a machine for destruction but a " planeswalker level up" device? Remember Urza used one such device to be a godlike planeswalker.
This is quite possibly the stupidest decision. Wrenn merging with realmbreaker will absolutely compleat her just like a beast did to lukka. But it'll take like 2 seconds instead of hours.
@@jrvazbakerboy melira, who couldn't fix a small cut on nahiri? Nah, I don't believe it. They made melira seem absolutely useless without 3 business weeks to prepare. Not against realmbreaker.

So… I think Serra is Emrakul. Emrakul likes to appear as angels. Elspeth went beyond the multiverse. And Emrakul didn’t do a thing about phyrexians on Inistrad. What do you think?
There is literally nothing we know so far that even suggests that Emrakul is Serra. As cosmic beings who are more like concepts than entities, the eldrazi likely existed before the multiverse itself.
@@dorukhanozen2580 agreed, I feel like everyone wants this to be fan service the gathering, we don't need Eldrazis in this set. I'm actually really sad Urabrask had died so unceremoniously. He could have done so much more, and here they just kill him off. But to be fair, for me at least, it set the tone of hopelessnes quite well for the story.
It's a much better card than folks give it credit for in it's proper space... I.E. Angel Tribal. That ultimate isn't an accident. They could have just gone 'put every creature in your graveyard on the battlefield' but the '3-cost' stipulation indicates where this card is meant to slot in... Angel Tribal. EVERY important angel for the Angel tribal 'go wide and HARD' win condition costs 3 or less. If you ultimate with Archangel Elspeth, your opponent NEEDS a wrath or they're gonna die next turn.
So, she was explicitly told if she just cuts the head a new one will grow back, and yet she chose it anyway? Guided by anger? Yeah, I hope this isn't the last we see of New Phyrexia. Pity for the Praetors: such cool characters, executed in a poor fashion.
With the way she was being show different places and to a lesser degree times ( her youth ) I was half expecting her guiding voice to show her the best and only true way to stop the phyrexians once and for all would to be go back to were it all started and kill Yawgmoth before the could visit and takeover old Phyrexia! Seems like the perfect way to cut MTG free of it past and let the new generation of developers start over with the MTG 2.0 with no reserve lists or baggage of old lore. Not exactly what i want to see happen but at least it would give us a proper end to one generation and free WOTC and Hasbro to grow the game with out need to cater to us old timers which they have made it clear they do wish to do anymore.
@@Case2_0 Then it was a mistake on Wizards' part or we would be seeing Gideon's spirit reacting to Theros' compleation as well. That or Elspeth just thinks she is communicating with a spirit when it's really her tapping into some long-held memory. Knowing Wizards I'm guessing it's the former.
Oh lame... lol I thought since Serra returned and she was explaining how Norn was just a puppet that somehow Yawgmoth was still behind everything and we were about to have the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny with Elspeth as the avatar of Serra (Like Raava and Aang) vs whatever Yawgmoth has become. I still remember somewhere it is written that Yawgmoth is not the nidus of Phyrexia, but that there is some sort of dark dragon god that created Phyrexia.

Even if the tree is gone, the Phyrexians have bled glistening oil all over those planes... Jace was correct, they should have just blown it up . I hope Elspeth is remembered as a fool instead of a savior but simps are gonna simp.
it's important to remember that Elspeth is from New Capenna and now an angel; New Capennan Angels are the source of Halo, which is one of the few known substances capable of combating Phyresis. I have little doubt that this will play into the plot.
@@ellyitari5955 It can combat and slow Phyresis to the living, but its a physical and magical disease made up of literal nanites that proliferates indefinitely and has the genetic memory of Yawgmoth. You will save a few people but every drop can become a new Phyrexia, Halo can't say the same. Those planes will never be rid of Phyrexians to some extent and it only takes one successful plane to make a new multiversal threat. I can't stand major characters being captured/compleated/killled offscreen with ease. Planeswalker, praetors, gods. Let them have their last epic moment at least. If you are going to butcher this many characters just do not go this big of a scoped story.
You can blame it on the abolition of the block system. At the pace they are releasing products, the poor loremakers simply can't tell the stories they want to tell without them becoming disjointed un order to keep pace with shifting settings.

With the latest walker reveal after Elspeth, I was also expecting more, but it's a card that does it's thing.
A bit disappointed that they didn't make her a transform card or even a meld card with the Filigree Sylex but I guess Wizards is very particular about having only certain types of mechanics in each set.
Honestly I'm still floored with the Rankle ending. That was goofyass and I loved it
This was my favorite of your videos!
Honestly, everything you've been doing with this arc so far, it's been amazing. Thank you.
Also, I think you'll enjoy knowing that you have at least one Brazilian fan.
This is awesome! I thought for sure we’d get either Elspeth or Gideon back
“Youre not dealing with any ordinary Planeswalker anymore, Elesh Norn.”
- TFS Vegeta
Lucky my fave white planeswalker is alive, New Cappenna was foreshadowing her transformation and..... SERRA YES!!!
Elspeth has always been character I gravitated towards since I got into magic and started learning the lore . Been waiting for this moment since the sylax exploded ..hell Ive waiting for Elspeth to have this moment since she came back and she kinda got it in new capana but not really. now I get to see her go whole angel mode on norn and turn the tide. can't wait for ur next video with her in it
Joan of Arc Elspeth > 1920s Flapper Elspeth
I was happy to hear about this given that I recently put in Serra in my Elspeth & Giada deck
Possible theories in ways to connect Serra and Elspeth:
3. WOTC stuff :/
Just throwing this out their since my brain meats was thinking
Not to mention Serra allowed Ulgrotha to languish because she was too busy being in love with Feroz.
@@mikotagayuna8494 Oh yeah, forgot about that... she also let herself get killed after Feroz lame ass death.
What was the point of even making urabrask if they were going to do him this dirty?
Bro this. I'm so salty they did my boy like this. So messed up
I'm actually impressed Norn was able to put up with his little rebellion for so long. I'm guessing they finally did him and Sheoldred in because red and black are ultimately incompatible with white and no army with divided ideologies can win.
He was just a ruse to keep the mirrans(Koth) safe from Norn's hands
I’ve been binge listening to all of these. I love them!
@5:50, "this time, the God of the Forge". the wroding in the story isn't exactly like this, but chances are this is Purphoros...
Another good story. Nice to see Serra back.
I don't have the time to read this due to my work, I really appreciate this work, thanks ❤️
Man, 3-4 Theros gods already phyrexianized. That's gonna be suuuuper rough for the plane and the heroes. Hope they get cards hahaha
Keep going man, you are awesome and your content keeps up up to date on ideas!!! Don't stop and keep going!!! Love from Houston, love from Texas, love for MAGIC THE GATHERING!!!!
Looks like “All Will Be One” means Norn will be the only Praetor left 😂 if she’s left at all…
What is the actual powerlevel of a praetor ? 2 of them captured/killed offscreen with ease it seems. Elesh Norn does not seem much a fighter she will be clapped by Elspeth easily. I am more interested in how they will deal with th bs oil.
I knew this would happen! I predicted she would become an Angel and it came true. It was destiny.
I mean there were obvious signs all over.
People have been saying this for ages, Elspeth having angelic ties goes way back
Man, Kathleen from LRR called the Serra angle pretty well. What a legendary called shot
"Serra, what i have to do now? 😱"
"I've put marks and lighted up the npc for the quest, you cant go wrong! 😉"
I'm confused about what happens on Amonkhet. The plane is mentioned in a couple card flavor texts for March of the Machine...
from what i can guess, the plant things are searching for any leftover blue zombies to infect. otherwise looking for the ore to start processing into phyrexian cores to be more durable.
it's nice that we have an angel walker to compliment Ob being the only Demon walker
Well there is also Tibalt as devil PW
Where is my dinosaur walker?
You're my breakfast companion, thanks for the story
So just had this thought if this story ends how i think its going to end now with all the planes being permanently connected via realmbreaker. Wont that completely undo all the work and emotional impact of bolas's defeat since he can just waltz off the plane he was trapped in and continue plotting? Ffs kinda gonna be disappointed if that happens would have much rather had emrakul to deal with/ be freed then bolas again also what is going on in the meditiation plane since it is connected to everywhere now and being invaded.
Ajani woke up, and said I'm gonna slaughter jedi younglings.
Serra: Remember, Elspeth. Dying is gay
Elspeth: Ffs, Serra. It's 2023 somewhere in the multiverse
This comment > MoM storyline.
Serra obviously never followed her own advice then.
So the spoilers were true. For those who don't know there were spoilers of an Archangel Elspeth card. I usually don't believe the spoilers because not all of them are true or real, So I always take any spoilers with a grain of salt but this one seems to be real.
The actual card was spoiled. What was there not to believe
@@tbd3058 I was talking about before the card was revealed duh !! When it was just the spoilers lol.
Elspeth has to the stop the root of the problem.. *literally!*
Two Praetors fumbled.
Hate it. Hate it so much.
I would say that was the best Episode yet
RIP Urabrask and Karn. Also, the new Elspeth card was revealed, and yeah she's an angel, an archangel more specifically
I had assumed that Elspeth was literally the reincarnation of Serra until this.
It's was a cool reference to Serra. Great!
Loving these stories!
It was hard watching her "abandon" Ajani cuz I was really betting on her. She made the right choice. Looks like Monday will be our last stories but will everything be wrapped up by then. This will be a rushed ending and very unsatisfying cuz there's so much we don't know
Everyone knew she was going to be angel 🙄
I expected a cameo of Venser, since Karn was thinking of him...
My Elspeth/Serra Commander lore deck about to go brrr! XD
Poor Urabrask... also... who are the compleated gods? We know of the as- of Heliod, Elspeth sees the compleation of Purphoros... are they going in order? Thassa and Erebos?
I need a card of Ashiok just dabbing in the background behind Norn.
What if Serra IS the Cylex? Or at least it still contains her pre-mending planeswalker power inside of it?
The Cylex predates her end, I am fairly certain. Also, different Cylex alltogether.
Nissa isn't dead, and she is still a threat, way more than any other Phyrexian Planeswalker has been
I feel like lukka was killed off for no reason.
Called it! We all called it.
You are correct, but they will most likely still treat this as the answer.
Actually she doesn’t get compleated. Melira plays a part in it
@@jrvazbakerboy melira, who couldn't fix a small cut on nahiri? Nah, I don't believe it. They made melira seem absolutely useless without 3 business weeks to prepare.
Not against realmbreaker.
@@liberalistbat6352 believe it. It’s in the story. It’s very subtle
I feel like serra is pointing out that until someone deals with geth that phyrexia will always come back
The lore is making me wanna get at least two sets when it releases lol
oh so much info. wich 3 gods did you say had fall already? Ephara, Heliod adn who? hope isnt Iroas. I liked that Serra showed up. 2 praetos had fall already
So… I think Serra is Emrakul.
Emrakul likes to appear as angels. Elspeth went beyond the multiverse. And Emrakul didn’t do a thing about phyrexians on Inistrad. What do you think?
Have you ever thought by a chance that Eldrazi will not be a part of this story ?
@@dorukhanozen2580 No. wizards is proud of the eldrazi. They’re never going away. Eldrazi precon coming soon.
Emrakul could give two Fs about these creatures, either way, she 's gonna consume the realm Phyrexians or not. Serra is Serra and Emrakul tried to package itself in an easy to diguest way so that it could be freed
Why do you think Serra waited all this time to pop up just now? Just this once?
Rip urabrask
I'm actually really sad Urabrask had died so unceremoniously. He could have done so much more, and here they just kill him off. But to be fair, for me at least, it set the tone of hopelessnes quite well for the story.
He isn't dead, he is slightly dismembered, iirc in the full chapter, she mentions carrying him off to be dealt with later
@@AnimeProfilePicture Thank you very much for this info. I was ready to be very sad.
Funny how Elspeth's crown looks like Nicolas bolas' horms
They did Urabrask dirty.
That was epic
"Heavy as platemail". Plate and mail are different kinds of armor. "Platemail" is as wrong as "Nintendo Playstation".
At some point I bet they just start using AI authors.
Holy crap!
So is there like a multiversal afterlife that Theros doesn’t have access to or what?
Your afterlife depends on the rules of the plane you died in. That's why we don't see Gideon in the Theros underworld.
@@mikotagayuna8494 elspeth and Serra died on different planes
@@Case2_0 Then it was a mistake on Wizards' part or we would be seeing Gideon's spirit reacting to Theros' compleation as well. That or Elspeth just thinks she is communicating with a spirit when it's really her tapping into some long-held memory. Knowing Wizards I'm guessing it's the former.
@@mikotagayuna8494 it’s possible Theros just has its own afterlife
Thank you
Oh lame... lol I thought since Serra returned and she was explaining how Norn was just a puppet that somehow Yawgmoth was still behind everything and we were about to have the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny with Elspeth as the avatar of Serra (Like Raava and Aang) vs whatever Yawgmoth has become.
I still remember somewhere it is written that Yawgmoth is not the nidus of Phyrexia, but that there is some sort of dark dragon god that created Phyrexia.
Called it😊
yes love this story
Bro urabrask taking these L's makes me so sad :(
She gave no justice to Urabrask! This is the author’s most critical error and proves she’s in over her head. This chapter is beyond aggravating. The Elspeth bit was fine, and I’m glad Serra got a bit of screen time.
So your personal distaste is proof that it's an error and the author is in over her head?
I like Urabrask's death. It makes sense.
The authors of these stories have been pure garbage for years. So what is new
If you would make any assumptions from my comment, good sir, you would see that the idea of Elspeth’s revival was also a bit too predictable. It is difficult to give all characters a spotlight in mass conclusion stories like this, but the fact that it is difficult does not excuse a poor character death. Urabrask contained a critical theme of discontent in the ranks of New Phyrexia and his disappointing death hindered that valuable plot point

I can't believe that with every video you make, you feel the desperate need to tell everyone to like, share, super like, and whatever else. With every.single.video....it's so old... I can't listen anymore.
LET MY BOY KARN COME BACK! They are finally letting him have some movement outside of Venser Corpse Puppet and it's the only hope I can cling to towards a Φrexia that won't be compleatly purged from the multiverse. Please FATHER OF MACHINES TAKE YOUR THRONE!
Damn, wizards really did throw the mtg lore out of the window, and I thought they couldn't ruin it more than they already did. They're going with the marvel storyline it seems, If they make so that Teferi goes back in time and saves everybody, i wouldn't be surprised. next thing you know they're resurrecting Gerrard Capashen. Really feels like the person writing the lore is a 15 year old.
Ahhh a literal Deus Ex Machina
Even if the tree is gone, the Phyrexians have bled glistening oil all over those planes... Jace was correct, they should have just blown it up .
I hope Elspeth is remembered as a fool instead of a savior but simps are gonna simp.
Wotc is the storyteller. They made Jace dumb and Elpest the Mary Sue. I can only blame them.
it's important to remember that Elspeth is from New Capenna and now an angel; New Capennan Angels are the source of Halo, which is one of the few known substances capable of combating Phyresis. I have little doubt that this will play into the plot.
"But the explosion can affect the planes!" Well no shit, and this doesn't?
@@ellyitari5955 It can combat and slow Phyresis to the living, but its a physical and magical disease made up of literal nanites that proliferates indefinitely and has the genetic memory of Yawgmoth. You will save a few people but every drop can become a new Phyrexia, Halo can't say the same. Those planes will never be rid of Phyrexians to some extent and it only takes one successful plane to make a new multiversal threat.
People put way too much significance in the lives of the people and planes we personally know versus the actual cosmos. Jace was right and when Phyrexia inevitably comes back again. Elspeth will be responsible for the deaths of infinitely more people than she claimed to save.
So she got the urza's transformation
I can't stand major characters being captured/compleated/killled offscreen with ease. Planeswalker, praetors, gods. Let them have their last epic moment at least. If you are going to butcher this many characters just do not go this big of a scoped story.
You can blame it on the abolition of the block system. At the pace they are releasing products, the poor loremakers simply can't tell the stories they want to tell without them becoming disjointed un order to keep pace with shifting settings.
@@mikotagayuna8494 You are completely right.
