Considering we haven't heard anything since 2019 iirc it's safe to say it's either in development hell or unofficially canceled completely.

This video was great to pull everything together. I've watched hours of your channel over the last 2 weeks about various sets, planeswalkers, and lore, but the phyrexian lore is so spread out, it helps me understand story beats I might have missed

I am very excited to see what role Elspeth plays in the upcoming stories. The last time she was on New Phyrexia she killed hundreds of Phyrexian troops, including two completed angels!
@Aether Hub I thought in the books Karn saved a drop of oil from Dominaria after the Legacy weapon went off.. saved it to study… When Karn left Mirrodin to help Jeska, Memnarch got nosy and found the oil.. Memnarch touched the oil and it absorbed into him.. when Memnarch was creating the world to his liking, he was unknowingly infecting the entire planet… I’m pretty sure I remember this from the Moons of Mirrodin book.. was something Retconned?
I'm looking forward to this story, if a bit sad we'll be saying goodbye to some of my favorite planeswalkers in the process. But that's okay really, because it would be for the sake of great storytelling if that is the case. Nicol Bolas has been the big baddie of MTG in the eyes of the first generation of players. Those who played it in the 90s and early 2000s. He was a character that represented the fan favorite dragon archetype of that time. The Phyrexians in contrast, are the newer villains. New Phyrexia was a favorite set among players across the board, so I do have faith that it will be a great set for play and lore. Besides, 2023 is MTG's 30-year-anniversary. They owe it to the fans and the company to do something amazing.
Mark my words, Emrakul is coming. We all know the fisherman analogy that ugin explained to Jace; why is there a fisherman in the first place? To clean up unstable mana (zendikar) for new planes to form. Em has tamiyo in thrall and had Tam hide her away inside of innistrads moon, from norn. The invasion tree at the heart of New phyrexia will stretch across all planes in the multiverse and through the blind eternities, where the fisherman waits. Phyrexians are an imbalance and the eldrazi are the counterweight. Edit - not to mention, the moon silver key that saheli uses in the machine used to send back teferi's soul, is literally made from innistrads moon. Emrakul knows about the phyrexians and the threat they pose to the entire multiverse
I can only pray that our savior Elesh Norn can push through the resistance applied by these short-sighted "heroes" and bring true peace to the multiverse.
I want Gix to reveal he had a spark. He was on par with fucking Urza a planeswalker at the time and imo he died way to unceremoniously. Like it felt very anticlimate. Gix needs to return as a planeswalker. Omgawd I would die.

So there is some things I wanted to ask. Did they kill the girl on mirrodin or was she captured and tested on. How did the oil get there and also didnt koth, go hunting others if I remember right he found elspeth in a fighting pit at the time and more or less kidnapped venser. Also I'm wondering how koth survived since last we saw him he was setting off a mana bomb on mirrodin.

1) The power of the oil was a writing mistake that requires a deus-ex-machina solution 2) Based on 1, returning focus to the oil is a mistake 3) The best part of New Phyrexia were the creatures, praetors, and color pie views that resulted, which were actually pretty cool. 4) Therefore Elesh Norn could be a really cool villain, but the direction the story has headed gave her too many quick victories, necessitating a reset. I think the flavor text for one of the new cards has Jace detonate the Sylex, which is basically a nuke. I just don't see that as particularly interesting as a conclusion, assuming that is in fact the conclusion.
The novel was bad? I read the Scars of Mirrodin novel "The Quest for Karn" when it got out, and it was the worst book I read in my whole life loll. Absolutely the worst lolll. Hilariously bad! Not even worth the laughs though, I felt personally insulted by the author, I even considered asking his mother to abort him lol. Sooooo bad

It had entirely too many characters it was trying to highlight. It literally picked up and completed stories in like paragraphs. It was sooooooo messy.
Here's a story plot twis. Ugin and Jace force or convince Nicol Bolas to help fight the phyrexians as penance for his War of the spark stuff. I know this is a dumb idea but I think it could be awsome if done right but knowing how Wizards are going with the company ethics... not likely.
I dunno about that, necessarily. Looks grim, sure, but March of the Machines could refer to a number of possibilities. I just hope the leaks aren't true about Vraska, Jace, and Nissa.

I wonder what the impact will be, and how it changes the MTG universe if non-planeswalkers can easily travel to different planes.... kinda devalues the uniqueness of planeswalkers. So I hope they destroy the Phyrexian world tree... but the next set "March of the Machines" makes me think they'll fail...

The story may be bigger, but the hype sure as hell isn't... there hasn't been the cool intricate build up like there was with Bolas taking on everyone at Ravnica. Nothing feels epic anymore

i feel its gonna be shit show for the lore... this is like Warhammer Endtimes where you have a bunch of beloved characters getting "Compleated" where they really dont have time to shine or really expand on their stories... then again i also have a huge feeling that they will find a cure or make them where they are not "bad" anymore, give em a year lol

Personally... I don't actually like Norn that much. The whole 'Phyrexia is one' thing never sat with me. It made some sense with Yawgmoth, seeing as his will LITERALLY made Phyrexia, but with Elesh it's not really justified. Especially since she doesn't even seem to believe in it herself
I’m think the oil became the primary tool because that’s how Phyrexia was reborn (since Karn had accidentally carried some there). A lot of Mirrans already had metal parts, so it was an easier plane to corrupt than most, and the phyrexians have been refining the oil to be more effective. They still use mechanical alteration, it’s just become less necessary.
Am I exited for the story of "Phyrexia: All Will Be One" ? Honestly not that much. Visually phyrexians are exiting the consept is intresting in self but the set-up SUCK : I have start to play magic with the oath of the gatewatch. And even if I care enought of the lore to know what a pyrexian is, I have the impresion that the set up is made for work on people that have know the old extentions with phyrexian but don't make me care. That the opposite of "War of the Spark" that have a good set up and a lack of pay of. I accept a lot more to don't have so much consequences and tell me "it's that kind of story" than a poorly introsdused story. I hope a good surprise.

The set up of the war of the spark work and make I havn't need to know all the bolas history to be hyped. That not the case of the phyrexia set up (and that the responsability of the writing team to think of peoples won't know the over 10 years old element). I have say "even if I care enought of the lore to know what a pyrexian" I have catch up that story but (maybe fault to don't have living it) that don't hype me more than that.

last leak in the phyrexian arena card we see Jace trying to help Vraska from be compleating, so she's probably been corrupted.

would honestly be refreshing to see the Phyrexians decimate and outmatch the Gatewatch, the only way for them to win is probably through assimilation.

i feel its gonna be shit show for the lore... this is like Warhammer Endtimes where you have a bunch of beloved characters getting "Compleated" where they really dont have time to shine or really expand on their stories... then again i also have a huge feeling that they will find a cure or make them where they are not "bad" anymore, give em a year lol

Personally... I don't actually like Norn that much. The whole 'Phyrexia is one' thing never sat with me. It made some sense with Yawgmoth, seeing as his will LITERALLY made Phyrexia, but with Elesh it's not really justified. Especially since she doesn't even seem to believe in it herself
Why does phyrexians change from beings altered by mechanical manual medical operation to nanotech oil?
The oil has always being a nano virus but it evolved when it was in Argentum core.

I’m think the oil became the primary tool because that’s how Phyrexia was reborn (since Karn had accidentally carried some there). A lot of Mirrans already had metal parts, so it was an easier plane to corrupt than most, and the phyrexians have been refining the oil to be more effective. They still use mechanical alteration, it’s just become less necessary.
Am I exited for the story of "Phyrexia: All Will Be One" ? Honestly not that much.
Visually phyrexians are exiting the consept is intresting in self but the set-up SUCK : I have start to play magic with the oath of the gatewatch. And even if I care enought of the lore to know what a pyrexian is, I have the impresion that the set up is made for work on people that have know the old extentions with phyrexian but don't make me care.
That the opposite of "War of the Spark" that have a good set up and a lack of pay of. I accept a lot more to don't have so much consequences and tell me "it's that kind of story" than a poorly introsdused story.

The set up of the war of the spark work and make I havn't need to know all the bolas history to be hyped. That not the case of the phyrexia set up (and that the responsability of the writing team to think of peoples won't know the over 10 years old element).
I have say "even if I care enought of the lore to know what a pyrexian" I have catch up that story but (maybe fault to don't have living it) that don't hype me more than that.
