I'd love a storyline with Davriel on the run from the various demonic grifts he pulled in the years as a planeswalker

They're interesting because they allow for established planes and characters interact in ways that couldn't happen before on revists, like a Theros-Amonkeht encounter maybe. They worry me because less established or outright new planes could get swallowed established planes they're connected too, and become even more "plane of hats'-y than we've been getting as they get fractions of what set space Kaldheim or New Capenna had to establish themselves. Like, if we went to Moag for a set without Omenpaths; they'd have to expand on it from an endless GW summer field, maybe with biomes related to each season, and a cast of Legendary creatures to fill a set. But in some multi-planer set _with_ Omenpaths, I worry it'd just for source of Green cards, alongside planes like Ghohakan for White. It also allows them to make Legendary Creature versions of now sparkless PW that could be used as commanders.
i think is both a Lore and Market problem, Some planeswalkers are too old they have take part in too many stories and have too many cards, leading to have too much of the same planeswalker, now they can retire ( basically put the old planeswalker that have finished story arcs on the back as legendary creatures) and move to a new generation of planeswalker cards, leading to better Lore and market
I don't think planeswalkers are being dialed back in any permanent or even semi permanent way. It might be a temporary, set-specific thing for these characters, but otherwise they're an established card type of 15 years. They should have just killed off everyone. And started with a brand new set of planes plainswalkers. - Imagine Chandra’s spark going into the ethers, and then helping ignite a person on a completely different plain. Then her spark could have “mentored” the new walker. Or whatever corny story line they could have come up with. So that way we still have “memories” of old walkers. They just live in their spark and help the new walkers discover their powers… blah blah blah. Would have made more sense.
I like Planeswalkers BUT they dominate the story too much and we have far too many driving the story. I want to return to feeling like everyday heroes of the plane we visit, feel like they matter
It seems that we are going in the direction you predicted. Most of us have favorites characters between the planeswalkers, but focusing in the planes and their inhabitants it's actually good for the Vorthos. Now it's time for wizards to step up their writing, fingers crossed.

Well for now the beings we know they have lost their sparks are PW who were already "oddities" for the Planeswalkers themselves. Nissa who suffered a soul transfiguration twice something that affected her Spark too as the Spark was an obstacle to compleating PW Teferi who already lost his spark before the Mending and later it recovered again due (plot) reasons If we follow this kind of logic maybe other "odd pw" will lost their spark too, I can think to the Wanderer due to her damaged/unstable spark and Ob Nixis who already lost his spark and managed to kick start it again... surelly I am forgetting someone
… wotc likes to change the sexual orientation of Chandra depending on who is writing her story eh? There does not seem to be any consistency to magic story writing. Would be interesting if animals from different planes, received sparks. As a side effect of Realmbreaker, punching a bunch of holes into the multiverse.
I can think of two instances where that's already happened. Vrist is an Insect planeswalker, the swarms it conjures take on humanoid forms, but Vrist is just a bug nonetheless. And then the Leviathan planeswalker Bolas ate before the mending was also a thing. We never knew who that one was though.

@@edgarventura7497 I think it was pretty clear that the story ended with Chandra making a commitment to try her best at staying around, while both accepted that this will probably not work out perfectly - and then they took the plunge into the portal together as partners. And the whole story was basically an exercise in both of them working through some of their emotional baggage and their issues with talking openly about their feelings and their needs. They both opened up to each other in ways that the story suggests were very significant steps of vulnerability. Chandra realized the ways in which she was hurting Nissa, while Nissa realized that she needs to take Chandra with her flaws, while both were massively impacted by the other in their own journey of working through their feelings. And they both empowered each other during the big finale, to go beyond what they could accomplish alone - not just based on saying the right words, but because they really connected on a deeper level and understood the other. It's definitely more than just "we like each other, but maybe later cause I feel bad". :D The story ends with them going off into the sunset, trying to make it work - but they are complicated people who realize as much, so it's not a perfect "and now they will be together forever" ending. They have to work through their own issues to really be good partners to each other, and this may fail.

And there are Vampires on Ravnica. Szadeck was a Parrun.
I somehow doubt Saint Elenda and Olivia would get along 😳
We don't know if I truly lost their spark only that they cannot access it. Remember if it comes to it they can always get it back .
I wonder if we are about to get another mending type of event and when it is said and done we will have a new type of planeswalker cards.
Burry the Past sounds like it could be a new card
Chandra, and Nissa, just committed to a suicide pact.... got it.
Isn’t Karn made of silver, not steel?
Don’t muddy the writing with facts lol
He also made a new body for himself in the last story
@@cadestapp3208 Karn is made of Dark Steel
Wanda Maximov losing to a superfriend deck one too many times: "No more planeswalkers"
They should have just killed off everyone.
And started with a brand new set of planes plainswalkers.
-
Imagine Chandra’s spark going into the ethers, and then helping ignite a person on a completely different plain. Then her spark could have “mentored” the new walker. Or whatever corny story line they could have come up with. So that way we still have “memories” of old walkers. They just live in their spark and help the new walkers discover their powers… blah blah blah. Would have made more sense.
Hey, Love your videos. Just a question for you, are you against planeswalkers, or do you feel that Magic should eliminate planeswalkers ?
I like Planeswalkers BUT they dominate the story too much and we have far too many driving the story. I want to return to feeling like everyday heroes of the plane we visit, feel like they matter
It seems that we are going in the direction you predicted. Most of us have favorites characters between the planeswalkers, but focusing in the planes and their inhabitants it's actually good for the Vorthos. Now it's time for wizards to step up their writing, fingers crossed.
So have we gone through a second Mending?
I wish mtg was better at writing.
This story in nut shell: my magic doesn't work if I'm depressed, also wormhole
Next story is literally just: ajani tries to force nahiri to work with him. When she says no, he tries to murder her.
I wish completed planeswalkers stayed completed, with the reversion they was no risk for “losing” planeswalkers to phyrexia
Tamiyo
@@AngelfireVamp814 tamiyo became a literal ghost trapped in a tablet that nahsri uses now for no good explained reason. she just at sometime in story could pull herself away from the oils control for no reason, let herself get killed for extra and now shes nashis alexa
@@xxXDrManhattanXxx it's not her tho. It's a spirit imbued with Tamiyo's memory as a precaution if she ever died
Gruulfriends is canon again!
In MaRo's preview article today, he literally called them Omenpaths...
Seiben _called_ it! WOO! 🥳
And here we have Nissa, once again cementing herself as pretty much the worst, with so many others that could have been saved in her stead, why is she even still alive?!
Finally they found the guts to make some significant changes again. For the first time in a while I'm genuinely intrigued by what may happen next.
Really!? After Nicol Bolas' fart of an ending? After the gigantic let down with the Phyrexians? And with WotC being a terrible company?
I don't see why anyone with a brain could continue to enjoy this
Great video!
Thank you ;)
They will be "Omen Paths" now!
Dang, not getting your notifications anymore:(
Nooooo :( TH-cam is hurting us
@@AetherHubagreed
Does this mean we get to follow other planes walkers now or get new ones?
Watch its the Eldrazi piggybacking off the Phyrexian realmbreaker
They are no longer Planeswalkers, they are Pinkertons.
HIred goons?
Planar chaos pt. 2.
There's no way they go too long with all these characters not having sparks.
They're too popular, and the planeswalker card type is too established to just disappear for long.
Cool, didn't realise Nissa and Chandra had a thing going on
How did you not know that? It's literally all those people are talking about.
Poor Teferi keeps losing his spark
he should be careful where he keep it haha
Karn, Ajani, and Nissa should all be dead. There’s way too much plot armor around the popular planeswalkers. None of them have should be able to escape death a million times *cough* Ajani *cough*.
Wait wait wait wait........if portals are appearing on every planes.......could one open in the meditation plane?!?
😱😱😱😱😱😱
Joke's on you, instead of 3-4 PW's per set, we'll now only go down to 2 per set! Gotta give new toys to Oathbreaker now that it is a recognized format, after all! Muahahahaha!
Is wizards loosing it? Teferi amd Karm both lose their Sparks?
Well for now the beings we know they have lost their sparks are PW who were already "oddities" for the Planeswalkers themselves.
Nissa who suffered a soul transfiguration twice something that affected her Spark too as the Spark was an obstacle to compleating PW
Teferi who already lost his spark before the Mending and later it recovered again due (plot) reasons
If we follow this kind of logic maybe other "odd pw" will lost their spark too, I can think to the Wanderer due to her damaged/unstable spark and Ob Nixis who already lost his spark and managed to kick start it again... surelly I am forgetting someone
all i hope for is a koma cosmos serpent phyrexian card
It would have been nice for wotc to have enough respect to maintain lasting consequences in their story for once.
Such bad writing....
… wotc likes to change the sexual orientation of Chandra depending on who is writing her story eh? There does not seem to be any consistency to magic story writing. It seems to be better to treat each story from different sets as having different characters with the same name with same powers at this point
Maybe she just bi bro
@@christopherlucas9118 Nope, remember war of the spark? In that novel Chandra says she's "had never been into girls"and it focused on how devastated she was on Gideon's sacrifice because she "had a huge crush on Gids".
The professor from Tolarian community college also mentions this in his review of the war of the spark novel too.
Would be interesting if animals from different planes, received sparks. As a side effect of Realmbreaker, punching a bunch of holes into the multiverse.
Same actually. Mixed fauna. Cool
@Intresocs20 The Sliver returns home.
I don't like the idea of them not being planeswalkers anymore. That's like saying there is no more Kris Walkers anymore. Not Cool! 😂
As long as WOTC don't touch Ral Zarek with their Pinkerton fingers, I'm good.
Ergh Nissa should have died in MoM. An invasion of the Phyrexians should have had more emotional casualties.
Apart from Wrren, Tibalt and Jaya, no other well known/liked planeswalkers died. They ever got healed or just vanished like Vraska
Lol that is a lie, no one likes Tibalt! 🤣
Careful with reading the lore, I don't want WoTC to send the Pinkertons after you!
Why not round up the planeswalking monsters and elderspell them.
Well not all planes walkers are losing there sparks just sum.
I'm going to stop you... their was no loss... the Ivasion was bearly a blip... JUST like Nico Bolas War of the spark was bearly an event. So was this... Every single plane did just fine with no losses at at the minimum...
I'm so glad to see these two oficially almost together
I think they went past "almost" in this story quite clearly.
@@sertaki In my understanding they are like," yeah we both want this, but I can't right now because I don't feel good", I may be wrong though
The story ends with them going off into the sunset, trying to make it work - but they are complicated people who realize as much, so it's not a perfect "and now they will be together forever" ending. They have to work through their own issues to really be good partners to each other, and this may fail.
Maybe this is why we are going to have adventures in the next sets casue I am sure several would want their sparks back pull a nico bolas lite now with 60 percent less zombies
with 60 percent less zombies. This killed me. You made my day good sir.
They kiss?!? Awww
I'm might just be my phone but the video isn't playing right
Love this story but WHERE IS TEZZY!!?!!?!?!?!!!!?!!!??!??
It's pronounced like Bay-o-Bob tree
Now i’m only 3 minutes & 26 seconds in but I hope like Tezzeret or Saheeli are able to build like mini Planar Bridge’s so that the planswalkers that have lost their spark can still travel the multiverse
Great Idea, make it so that the entire story is even more pointless
And why would those characters get that privilege over anyone else?
Hey guys…. WHERE THE FUCK IS JACE
The downfall of MtG, out of the game and lorewise.
Thank god. While I love the characters, I really hate the planeswalker card type.
So many content creators using "this changes everything" in the titles just screams that they're using AI to write scripts
Careful buddy, Wizards might send the Pinkertons to get the story back lol it might of been leaked by accident... Bit thanks for the story for mtg buddy!
ELDRAZI?!?!
The Mending 2.0 I guess? 🤔
I’m curious the implications of planeswalkers losing their spark in regards to the player. What will that mean for players going forward, does the player too lose their spark?
It's WotC... they are NOT thinking that far ahead or with that much detail
Bro 22K views for this??
Despark 😮
I hope the current arc with less planeswalkers and more local stories stays true! Exited to see more stories about what's happening
lol this story makes no snense
After Wotc's whole bs, I no longer care.
No offense because I enjoy most of your content but there’s no need to pat yourself on the back because it was a little obvious. Everyone at my LGS have been talking about the same thing.
