Great info here. I’m totally on the fence about this lens purely based on that f/7.1… my ef 100-400 ii does a great job on my R6 ii, but f/5.6 is already giving me quite high iso values at times. The R6 ii is excellent at high iso but obviously we want a cleaner image. I’m not sold on this lens… especially when other manufacturers can produce a super tele with f/6.3 at 600mm.
Interesting to see this lens used for sports. I shoot wildlife R5 100-500. If the subject is close I pull back the zoom to gain the wider aperture. I do fight noise in low light. Denoise products are pretty good though. The full frame sensor helps in my opinion. I also love that it has macro like properties. But so far, you can’t beat it for weight and versatility! Nice review and awesome shots!
I shot my whole daughter's cheerleading event in the evening with only stadium lights on this lens. Got good results. Not sure why more people don't use this!
@@uliseslozano95 hi thanks for the comment. For indoor use or for low light conditions you will need to increase the iso significantly. But this doesn’t mean you’ll have bad photos. All the full frame canon mirrorless cameras handle high iso values extremely well in my opinion and this can be controlled even more with noise reduction software such as topaz. Just go for it and enjoy your photography.

Thanks for the comment. The lens is very versatile. The 7.1 aperture doesn't really put me off using it for anything.
Thank you very much for the video which is quite helpful to decide whether is works for sports or not.
Glad it was helpful! There will always be a compromise when it comes to photography, certainly so for sports.

Low light/ high iso noise seems not to be an issue when shooting with the R3.....
It can be an issue but so far the R3 has been a great camera.
Excellent video
Thank you very much! - thanks for taking the time to view and comment.
This is my main sports lens during daylight
