    Hello there 👋 can these exact steps works with the Mackie fx10 pro V3?? Since the Mackie has a USB port too.
    Thank you and you've got a great voice 👏

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Yes, the same steps will work with one exception. The Mackie has a 2x4 USB interface that returns 2 stereo channels instead of just 1 set. So you have to tell your iOS app ( GarageBand, ect ) to use the second output for audio as the first set is just for Overdubbing with the Mackie.

    I have this board, and I have been trying to connect my laptop with tracks to sing to and a vocal mic, and mix them to my Samsung for live streaming. I have watched a few videos, and this comes closest, but I am having trouble getting both the tracks & vocal to my phone. Can you assist?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heh Ryan, depends on the phone you have, If you have a phone that still has an actual headphone socket ( Galaxy S10 and earlier ) then all you need is this adapter cable that goes from one of the Main outputs of the Mixer to the phone: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1500946-REG/movo_photo_tcb2_xlr_female_microphone_to.html
      Then use an android based recording app that allows you to choose 'external Mic" as an option and adjust the Main Output slider from the mixer.
      This will allow you to record the computer audio ( channels 7/8) , plus a Microphone ( Channels 1 or 2 ) through the mixer main output ( including FX ) , to the Mic input of the phone.
      ( Note, the recording will be in Mono, NOT stereo, as the Mic input to the phone is only Mono, so just Pan all your mixer channels in the middle )
      However, if you have a newer S20 or the new Note series, things are a bit more complex as the newer S20 and Note series no longer support hardware audio input/output via the headphone jack. And using the USB port for audio devices on the S10 and S20 has been hit and miss.
      You may want to check the Samsung community forums for more info on this issue: us.community.samsung.com/t5/Phones/ct-p/phones

      Because you are on Android, It might make more sense to try it the other way around.
      Connect the Mixer to the Laptop
      Instal the 'Soundcraft Control Panel Software and drivers"
      Open SC Control Panel and navigate to 'Audio Routing' and choose 'Mix L+R'
      Connect a Mic to Channels 1 or 2
      Play the backing tracks on the computer ( computer audio comes back on channels 7/8 )
      Mix the channel volumes to taste and add FX ( Blue AUX sends ) if needed
      Record directly into the live streaming app on your computer ( Facebook Live, TH-cam, ect. )
      This will be high quality stereo audio to your live stream

    Good afternoon ❤
    Will these steps (Mix L&R) works Also with the 12FX version of this mixer?
    I recently found a good deal on the 12FX model (USB 4in\4out), however, the driver of that model shows input 1&2 are fixed (you can't change them) , also it shows input 3&4 (and you can assign them to Mix L&R .
    Sorry for My question it's just too confusing 😅😅. As far as I understand that phones accept only 2 channels and I thought I might ask you for an advice.
    Thank you again 🌹

      Well, I spent all day looking, but no one seems to know. However I found these infos:
      The 12FX is (USB 4x4)
      But, the driver of the 12FX version has 2 windows.
      First window, channel 1&2 are fixed (you can't change them to Mix L&R).
      Second window, channel 3&4 which allows you there to assign Mix L&R.
      This way, everything plugged in the mixer will be going out to stereo channels L&R (including EQ and effects).
      The remaining question is, does this mean that I can send everything from the 12FX to the iphone, like what you did with your 8FX version.?
      I'm planning to buy this mixer to do live streaming directly to my iphone. Just like you. The only difference is that you have got a beautiful voice mate, unlike my voice that sounds like a crocodile running straight pipes 😅
      Now as far as I know, iphones only accept 2 channels in and out .
      The price difference between the 2 is only 48$ that's why I'm confused.
      Any way thank you for your beautiful tutorials ❤❤
      If anyone found an answer, please inform us 👋

    Can this set-up be used for karaoke apps on iphone? like Smule, WeSing and StarMaker?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely , once the IOS system 'see's your audio interface via either the camera connection kit or USB-C ( in newer devices ) any IOS app can use the hardware. It is up to the app creator to determine the use case. In most cases all the IOS app ecosystem works the same ( garage band, voice recorder, etc ) as do most 3rd party apps.
      This is how high end podcasters and live streamers get around having to use only their iPhone microphones.

    Can we connect directly to iPhone using camera connector kit without USB hub?
    Why USB hub is used? Since mixer is powered externally

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On newer IOS devices you can, because USB-C computes it power requirements differently than the older Lightning connector based devices but you may still get the "This device draws too much power" warning. The USB hub is just a hack to get around the warning notice.

    So is this setup reliant on a Soundcraft mixer in order to work?
    Or can another kind of mixer with a USB out get the job done?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Theoretically any mixer could work but it relies on the mixer being 'class compliant' meaning, no specific drivers are required. Like Apple Core Audio for example, most iOS devices use this driverless protocol.

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The newer Android devices are getting to be very similar to IOS in terms of latency so that makes things like streaming and music apps much faster and the process is very much the same. The older Android devices ( early Galaxy, etc ) unfortunately suffer from too much latency to really use effectively.

      Our experience with Android has been hit and miss. Many of the later models (Samsung, Sony) have worked but older models did not but, that was due entirely to the phone’s hardware and the version of Android used. The later versions of Android DO support low latency audio but it is up to the manufactures hardware to support it.

    I’m currently using an iPhone 7. I bought the exact same equipment shown in this video and followed the instructions. Somehow I don’t get the same results.
    For my current setup I have my mic in Channel 1 and my music in Channel 2. However, I can hear the music and my vocals through the mixer but when I press record on my phone to test audio music and vocals don’t come out and my phone microphone is still picking up the background.

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your phone microphone is still working, then your iPhone 7 is not seeing the mixer as an audio interface. Are you connecting the mixer via the Apple Camera Connection Kit AND going through a USB-3 hub? ( you may want to try another USB-3 Hub as not all are up to the Apple certification )
      The best way to test if the mixer is correctly connected is to play back audio from your iTunes library on your phone. If it plays back through Channels 7/8 on the mixer, then it is connected correctly.

  • @sheskimusic
    @sheskimusic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m sorry. I’m not understanding. Why didn’t you just plug directly into the camera connection adapter? Why did you have to plug-in to the USB hub before plugging in to the mixer? I thought you only use the hub adapter when you needed to have power?? You mentioned you weren’t using the power.

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reason we used the USB Hub was some of the older iOS devices ( iPhones/Ipads ) would detect the external device as drawing too much power and disable it. By using a USB Hub, you can effectively 'trick' the iOS device into bypassing the power detection notice.

    Hi
    I just got my notepad,
    As you cited on the video we don’t require any other extra hub since the mixer has it’s own power source.
    However when I connect my iphone 11pro Max it says that the device “requires too much power”.. does it mean im doing something wrong? Or it cannot be used without a powered usb hub?

    • @Featherlightstudio
      @Featherlightstudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Eman Music Chef: We don't need to hub to power the Mixer as the Mixer is powered however, we DO need the hub to prevent our IOS device from 'trying' to power the mixer. If connected 'directly' from the phone to the Apple Camera Connection Kit OR directly to the USB-C port...your IOS device will try to power the Mixer and fail, giving you that message. The Hub prevents that.

      That would depend on the Android phone. Android does not widely adopt the use of Class Compliant Drivers the way IOS does. It would be completely model dependent. Many of the newer Android phones DO support class compliant driver model now.
