      Thanks Matt. I hate going into the "ABYSS" aka the convertible area of the car.

    Thank you my 86 convertible needs all that and both window seats replaced. Originals totally rusted out and the glass fell through. I’m also going to spray undercoating on the inside of those areas to seal the bare metal on those inside quarters and hopefully create some sound deadening with future rust protection. A little overkill but I’ll know what I have inside there now! God bless you too

      Thanks for watching. Those quarter windows cause major headaches but convertibles are just so much fun.

    Your right though. Love or hate ragtops. I spent my childhood (80s) riding in a 69 buick skylark ragtop. I always cherish those memories of going to the cabin with my mom and dad sitting on the armrest between them. I loved that car. I hope my kids will too with the ole fox

    Great video brother! They are a pain! Helped my friend replace his on his 86gt a few years ago

    I just got done doing it. Blech. And pillar post seals.
    I actually managed to do them without removing the 1/4 windows. Long flexible screwdriver with 1/4 drive, small wrenches. It was awful, but I did it. There were rivets in the middle on mine too holding it to the body (83)
    Need to get the rubber upstop on my passenger side 1/4 window...goes to far forward and can rock forward. Adjusted the screw stop more in to help for now, but catches on the window a bit rolling up and down. Fix that problem after we move. Drivers window needs to be adjusted then too. Bit low on the back side.
    What have we learned. T TOPS ARE A MUCH EASIER COMPROMISE 😋

    I've put this off soooo long. I have the new part even. But the old nasty cracked dry ones are still on the car!!!

      LOL. It took me a month of mental preparation. I kept looking at the box of parts and then just bit the bullet.

      Yep. I’ve got the same problem. Just tore the car apart last month to replace the seat belts. Don’t wanna get back into it again!

    Hey, I did this job it was not fun, getting to that nut right behind the door is a lot of fun, if you lower the window almost all the way down you can rotate it enough to get a wrench in there. I didn’t take the hockey sticks completely off, I was able to take everything out except the last bolt at the back which goes underneath the trunk hinge and was able to do everything with it still in the car. I do have a question, have you ever messed with the gutter that allows water to drain when it runs down the back of your convertible top and goes under the trunk, into a gutter, and then around in exits out the fenders question

    • @yellowfoxbodyguy
      @yellowfoxbodyguy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't been thru the gutter part. Hopefully I never have too.

      @@yellowfoxbodyguy OK, I have a new top on mine, it was installed probably year before I got it, and there are a couple of rust spots right where the top is mounted inside the trunk, I am going to have those repaired but I did not know if it was because water was backing up in the gutter or if there’s some sort of seal that maybe is not doing its job back there.
