- I've been asked many times to make a video on swapping out the convertible top on your 1983-1993 Foxbody Mustang. Here is a video on how I did it myself with a KeeAuto Stayfast Canvas style top I got from #latemodelresto
It is extremely time consuming and takes a lot of patience. I would say the difficulty level is an 8/10. If you don't feel comfortable tackling this project after watching this video, leave it to the pros.

I’m so pumped you’re doing this. I just got my little brother a 93 vert as his first car and it needs a top and a rear window. We’re going to redo the top ourselves

Thanks for posting this video. Honestly, this is one of the jobs that I avoid because it can be so tedious. You did a great job and posted the info that will help a lot of regular guys get it done themselves. Nothing is worse than paying someone else to do a job just to be disappointed with the results.

I usually watch a few videos before I subscribe. I've watched a few so far. Def subbed Man. In 98 when i turned 16 I was gonna buy a 85 Ttop GT. My Cousin overheard me telling my Dad I was gonna buy it. Well when I got off the school bus and was ready to go buy it my cousin pulled up in it! 😠 I never forgave him for that. I'm get another one just like it one day. Silver and Black.

Love the vert content. Uhg I f**king hate jobs like this and just getting thru the vid was tedious...but what I'm saying is it's really important content...like the colonoscopy of Foxbody repairs. Someone should open up a vert top and heater core only repair shop.

I just completed the top on my 91 lx. It’s not bad, just tedious. My opinion is just take your time.
great video but i was just wondering about the 2 pockets on the top do the rails go inside them because i noticed they are small or just folded and held by the 3 tiny screws?

Yep back in the day when I had one it had a headliner just like my 93 does
First top I ever installed was on my 92 feature.

You mentioned something that I've somewhat have been pondering. I own a 89 vert. When I bought it the top was shot. You mentioned you swapped the top with the frame. I currently know where I can acquire an 86 vert for dirt cheap. Here's my question, can i take the top and frame assembly off the 86 and put it on my 89. Is it a direct bolt on or will there be issues

I’m sure this will not be a highly viewed video but thank you so much for doing it. I watch the entire video. Felt like I was watching you work on my car. Black vinyl top on mine. Have all the same exact issues. Top still in good shape but it’s shrinking. Never knew that was why I could see all side area. My frame does not look good either and I would want to paint it. The components you resprayed black will need to be done on mine also. Even the underside of my top is dirty/stained like yours. I’m guessing I could install a headliner on my 91 ? Would probably be much easier than attempting to clean/prep/repaint a lot of the frame. By the way you did an outstanding job. Not something you want to do in a hurry. The new top looks great! You have motivated me to have someone else do it lol. I’ve never looked in the owners manual, Ford doesn’t recommend to unzip the rear window when putting the top down do they? I’m assuming it has the zipper just for install or to be serviceable in case the window was broken.
I had a headliner on my 90, yes you can get one installed on your 91 🤘
My vinyl top is getting too tight and is difficult to latch the roof unless it is very warm. Is there a way to loosen it or is there a vinyl treatment that helps it stretch a bit? I don't have the time to completey resto my '87 I have had since new

it looked way ez trust me it is NOT ..did 1 on my 91 never again have a shop do it its not a fun job or ez job

I've got an 89 mustang I have to do this too 😵💫 the top is so dry rotted I have tarps over it parked under a shed for now.
Mustang convertible tops are so easy to do.

Man I watch u all the time, and I’m learning so much, I actually have a 91 LX with a 331 stroker and I bought it with built motor and there’s a vibration the car has when it’s being driven, it’s believed to be the harmonic balancer but I need help, can u please do a video on 331, 347, strokers please?
Normally on a built motor they would replace balancer. You should be able to look at the harmonic balancer while the car is idling, does it look wobbly? If the car has a vibration while driven, it could be a number of things. Does it happen while driven in neutral?
Yea the balancer does look wobbly, I’ll have to get it checked out, it may solve my problem

I have a 1987 convertible and I need to replace the mechanical frame or parts. Im not seeing that for sell on the internet. Anyone know who sells the frame or frame parts?
did you not staple the rear of the top to the last bow, and slide those aluminum listings through to screw to the center bows? I had to remove my headliner to do all of that. I no i left those listings out of mine one time and the center of the top swole up like a balloon at about 70mph ahahaha can't say that it really matters really, cuz it looks great man. Not an easy job to do if you've never done one before. Beautiful Fox!!!!

Have you ever had an issue where you’re opening the top and the rear glass gets pinched and shatters? Happen to me when I was testing the top on a newly purchased 93 vert

Happened to me once, thought I got shot when it popped and a piece nailed me in the neck LOL 🤣
Mine done that after the top had settled in. I done it in February outside and once spring came around I guess it started to loosen up in some areas that put the frame in a bind. Scared the shit out of me too! I've heard of towels being in the well where the glass lays and bust it. Gotta double check that trunk before you drop it for sure.

It's cool you're looking for a GT, my fav. Theres tons of 'em out there...at least where I live but I'll tell ya right now, pay now or pay more later. Get the absolute best you can afford. Go over them with a fine tooth comb and if all you can afford is a shitbox I'd wait and save.

I put that top on mine and haven't been too happy with it, it stays dirty looking from lint and dust.
Now you make this video after I already did my top and although I’m proud how it came out I was looking at little snippets and pics here and there 😒 I still enjoyed this vid though 🫡 lol
