Like so many other commenters, I salute You tutorials for being on the point and no BS. It seems 99% of ARK TH-camrs feel the need to make hour long videos to explain something that could be done in 2 minutes. You are the best!
I love your tutorials, very detailed and to the point. You've advanced my Ark lifestyle from a primitive caveman to an advanced architect. Keep making the tuts man, you're the best!
This is a lifesaver! I play on a The Center server and one of the islands were completely de-populated. Naturally, me and my buddy set up camp! "Naah, no-one lives there." they said. "That's where all gigas spawn. It's crazy." Making a few of these armored plants in metal will make us very very happy campers. Thanks for the tip!! I think I'm gonna go make one of them now and blow my buddys mind :-)
You're the "evolved" in "ARK: Survival Evolved", seriously. I am so glad I found your channel and subscribed! These tutorials are just epic! Thanks bunches for sharing your knowledge (which already has made me the 'queen of metal' on my server ;)) I will subscribe to your other channel for the sake of support, even if the outback is around 20.000 km away :( , but I do hope your channels will grow much more! You definetely deserve it! Thanks again and keep up these great videos!
i have been watching all your building videos and i must say i have over 5000 hours in ark and i can say with certainty you are one of the very best strategic builders i have seen and there is not much i havent seen in ark at this point but you have definitely opened my eyes to some building ideas thanks and good luck with your channel
Quincy Rogers do you play on the PC? I have trouble with it. The trapdoor needs to be removed completely to access the crop plot and my plants take direct damage (with trapdoor closed of course). But maybe it’s a PC problem...
Jonathan Rollé I’m on console like OneWing; PC is a bit ahead of console to my knowledge so maybe there’s a collision mechanic patch that’s keeping you from utilizing this technique. Even for console plebs some of the info presented has been “patched-out” so to speak
I just wanted to tell you that you are an ark God. lol. I just started playing a month ago and your videos helped the learning curve so much. I never comment videos but you deserved the thanks.
another awesome video! I'm a predominantly a raft guy and have incorporated a most of your findings in my builds. the expedition raft is a great tool for collecting pearls on the center map. Set the plant x for all dinos and clear out those pesky piranhas:)
Bloody brilliant mate, solved the problem of my gigs munching my species while attacking wild stuff that flies into my base. Works like a treat. Subbed and shared you champion!
Great video xONEWINGx, I will definitely be incorporating some of these techniques on the outside perimeter of our base. Really great tip and glad to see it prevents Giga attacks well, just tamed a high level Giga ourselves on our server.
You should do a tutorial on how to make that house, it looks awesome. im sure after an hour or so of fucking around i could figure it out, but an updated tutorial might be good, to see if it all still works or not.
Hi OneWing, So, I've made a bunch of these armored plants and did some testing by kicking a tribe member and having them run around them, plus I've just experienced my first base raid and they killed all my dinos. I've discovered some interesting things. First thing, the plants can't see over the railing when they are in an elevated position looking down. I installed them atop a cliff and until I removed the front railing they just couldn't shoot a player down below, but when a Rex came the Rex was tall enough to get shot. Second, putting the wooden ramp for access is a death sentence for the plant. Just as the wild bronto killed the plant during a raid a Rex killed the plant as well, either that or a rocket did, Armour was fully intact plus the Ramp but the plant was dead with fertilizer in the the crop plot.
Yes, it still works with minor changes.Plant X require a large crop plot, so you must step it down 3x instead of 2x to be protected by the hatch. It will still receive water and sun, and will grow. To actually access the plot inventory later you will need to remove a railing and access it from the side or use an auto-fertilizer spreading item. Once grown, you can click on the plant itself to edit targeting/range.
I tried your method. The hatchframe collapses, when I destroy the ceilings. Even if I don't remove the first foundation, the plant get the damage through the hatchframe.
in one of the patches post this video, they fucked up trapdoors. You'll have to remove the trap door to access the inventory, then replace the trapdoor. it's a pain, but it's what ya gotta do now.
for the foundation one you can also put ramps on teh bottom maken it a little harder to get to the foundation of it and you can also put a intake at the bottom corner with a tap if its at the beach - along with giant metal hatch frames around it so people cant run up to c4 it just slightly blocks them
I use this design, however on PC you cannot access the plot inventory when opening the trapdoor. Sometimes if you angle your view up close on the plant/trapdoor you might get lucky with being able to access the inventory. Testing in single-player mode, flame arrows can take out the plants.
You dont have to add the thatch ceilings. The hatch frame will snap to the first higher foundation, and the railings will snap to the bottom foundation. I tend to build these in clusters of 4.
Thank you for this and all your tutorials! My gameplay has been enhanced by this build. I have an issue concerning the armored crop plot. I am unable to access the plot’s inventory with trapdoor attached, even with door open, I cannot access plot inventory. I have to demolish the trapdoor to gain access. The option to add fertilizer and set plant’s aggression is available, even with trapdoor closed. Is there something I didn’t place quite right? Also, how protected is the plant from flame arrows?
theonlyrel That’s how it works on PS4 as well. Although considering I was only concerned with topping off fertilizer and not replanting the fully grown plant x, it wasn’t too much of an issue.
The pillar method still works. xONEWINGx great video! The species X can still be damaged with Ptero's doing barrel roll and if a Rex gets up on top it can also damage it fyi everyone.
Very nice video. Being in the desert makes it harder for irrigation. I know I can use water skins but what a hassle. And I can irrigate them but I like to have single ones spread out and that creates alot of annoying piping. Guess I can make a few of these armored ones that could manage 10 or more. And then only have a few stretches of piping
Hey xONEWingx! : ) So I've made quite a few pillar armored x plants. I turned them on to kill a wild Bronto level 44 knocking down all the trees giving my place camouflage. Well..... the wild Bronto took the plants out easily. I only went through a single fertilizer on three plants by the time I took it down, helping manually with my tamed Trike. I'm not sure what has occurred here. The Armor is intact, I have a wooden ramp on one side but the Bronto didn't destroy the ramp so the plant should have been protected. Do you think this might be a "wild vs tamed" attack thing?
Some dino attacks will get through its most effective against the tyrannosaurs, brontos must get through it seems. The ramp does seem to be a weak point though maybe I shouldn't have suggested it (but its a pain to recharge otherwise). I had a person on a giga chomping into my boat once and couldn't get through until I turned exposing the ramp side whereby the plant went first followed by the wood ramp then the crop plot with all the stone still intact.
if you think the ramp may be the weak point then I think what I will do is put a ceiling next to the plant allowing railing all around then put the ramp on that ceiling to gain access. Actually.....hmmm if I recall correctly I had a fully armored plant on the top of my building as well with no ramp and it was taken out too. I'm still going to follow through with the idea though, either that or do your slope roof version. I'm not into building with metal yet.
hey onewing for the building on an existing base method could you place a pillar on top of the roof then thatch roof on top of that and ceiling to the side and pillar under and do it the 2nd method you showed in this video? that way you dont have a pillar protruding inside of your base?
You can just have the pillar on the side rather then inside the base yes, if that is what you are saying. Just build a ceiling off the side and pillar down from that. Note they have changed the snap points of pillars its a little harder to find the correct one now.
@xONEWINGx i tested out this build but i have a few questions. some ill be able to answer myself but one in particular that i would like your opinion on. When i placed a dino in range of this kind of turret i noticed something odd. By mistakei had placed the target dino close to the turret. nothing happened. As the dino moved away the turret aquired and killed the dino but it did so after getting about two or thee foundations away. And would appear to have a minimum range. Would lowering the foundation further into the ground fix this? And isn't this a probelm with pillar plant x turrets?
What dino? the targeting box of the dino may well of been below the rail height. You can lower it one more level but that's it, 3 down is as far as it will go on land. Being able to run under pillar turrets is always possible, I'd only use that as a second row behind the ground ones or in combination with spikes as shown.
Honestly I don't know, I tried with the catapult and couldn't kill it but then I'm not sure if you can kill your own plants with a catapult. I targeted an unarmoured one as well but hit the crop plot and destroyed it. I wouldn't have thought it would protect the plant but I cant confirm nor deny.
Same for me, I just wanted to ask if anybody has similar issue. THe trapdoor need to be demolished in order to be able to access the crop plot inventory. Not a big deal, but interesting that on the video Onewing can access the iventory with the trapdoor already placed... maybe this is a difference between PS4 and PC?
Excellent trick! I've already started implementing them in my base. I'm just curious how they hold up against quetzal attacks though. I play on a primitive server and right now the bred quetz can't be beat.
I managed to damage the foundation crop plot while crouching and hitting with a sword in between the gaps. Did something change, will this still work against dinos? It was made of stone. Love your videos btw.
Amazing video and setup, pity i keep fudging it. Got the general gist but trying to do it on uneven terrain is freaking difficult. Base feels pretty secure except I'm not sure my plants always work, dunno if that's cos i've the railings on the wrong snap or something else... Keep these tasty vids coming!
Does this still work if you create multiple armored xplants next to each other? e.g. a 2x2 square of armored xplants, or do the foundations need to be not snapped together?
Thank you so much. I'm playing on the new primitive+ servers and plant-x is really important. We are having problems with players rushing/suiciding on the plants in attempts to remove the fert and destroy the plants that way. Also they're luring wild gigas and things like that onto the plants and they're getting destroyed even though they are set to attack players only. So I'm converting to armored tonight. Thanks again
I suddenly realized that for the two such protected plant turrets I made this morning and this evening... the railings are on the metal foundations, instead of the (no-longer-there) thatch ceilings. What's the impact of doing it this way? My hatch frame did not fall apart.
No problem that I know of. Its just a lot harder to place that way which may be the cause of your previous grief. Are you sure its on the foundation? Even when on the ceiling they look more to be on the foundation.
I may be wrong about that. Just did another one and the fact that I had the railings glowing green / snapping to the SIDE of a thatch ceiling...and then just tilted until the front side went green... confirms for me that I'm getting the correct height. It just kinda LOOKS like they're sitting on the foundation when you're done.
You can check mine at th-cam.com/video/atuzaM557i4/w-d-xo.htmlm50s , the base of the railing hangs off the foundation a bit. But anyway as long as its all holding together it should be fine! I just checked the 2 stone armoured plants I have on 650, they were attacked with what looks to be grenades, they are still there with a couple railings nearly broken but a kill count of a lv250 ptera, a lv60 turtle and a few lv70 people.
Hello! How long does it take to het a full grown plant?Mine is gone. I have seeded the plant.Water tap above it ( constant 600 water )Enough poop etc in the crop pot. Why is it not growing? Thanks in advance!( i also subscribed to youre Channel!)
Is it possible that this method isn’t working on the PC? I tried this method with around 30 large crop plots. The stone railings are placed correctly too. Unfortunately, the plant takes direct damage when it gets attacked, even though the trapdoor is closed?! And I have always the same problem: I cannot access the crop plot when a trapdoor is added to the hatchframe. I always have to remove the trapdoor when I want to plant some seeds. It only works trough the hatchframe with no trapdoor on it. Any help is LARGELY appreciated 🙈😊 Awesome video!
+xONEWINGx ya I know I like the fortress but with the last update you can't put turrets on quetzals anymore (auto turrets) do you know of anyway of putting turrets back on quetzals on a glitches foundation ? I've seen the final product of one but I don't know how to make it bro, thanks for the reply dude keep up the good work !
What's the best way to counter this? I've seen a tribe use metal for this and I was thinking of raiding them. Would destroying the railings with say, 1 c4 remove the hatch? And possibly destroy the crop plot in the process? Or at least remove the hatch frame that is the real issue
the stealing o nly works on small bases with almost non protection, if you got plenty of plant x standing next to each other then you cant steel it without dying.
Does this make the xplants unable to be damaged till the armored stone/metal structure is destroyed? Or does this just protect the crop plot from being looted?
on the second design (on the pillar) I can't seem to play the hatchframe. I made sure everything was even, snapped to the right places, etc. but it just won't let me. anyone know what I could have done wrong?
Does this still work on pillars i tried to make this on a pillar today could not get hatch frame to place. i know they just did something to pillars in the last patch and just wanted to know if its lagging issue from public server or not... thanks
question do you still play on 650? my friend and I are level 70 and have not been able to progress at all wake up to no base all the time because of trolls i dont bother anyone i litterlly have never raided a person never had the resources to do so any way you could help me out i could give you my cords
Does this still work ? I just made one and it was done exactly like the video by the time the plant fully grows the crop plot is accessible without opening hatch frame. When there is no plant you cant access fertilizer . However once plant reaches midling you can access the fertilizer!!!!!!! Help Anyone , or is ark just being finicky ?

nice one mate very good idea!
Geez mate, you are the only gaming youtuber I watch at all.
+xONEWINGx Hope he gives you new ideas for new defence systems against raiders.
+xONEWINGx Thanks man really appreciate it, keep up the awesome work!
Why are plants usefull?
This gold information still works! On another note, It was a treat to see "old school" Ark in this vid again.
Quincy Rogers do you play on the PC? I have trouble with it. The trapdoor needs to be removed completely to access the crop plot and my plants take direct damage (with trapdoor closed of course). But maybe it’s a PC problem...

Your tutorials are spectacular. Very crisp, informative, and professional. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for doing the test at the end of the video, it was good to see what are the potential weaknesses of the build!

This is a fantastic little trick you've figured out. Well done on adding some new weapons to the Ark arsenal.
THE BEST DESIGN EVER STILL WORKING
Yep even now in 2121 👌🏼
@@TurokLegend what is it like in 2121?
Best, most useful ARK video i've seen! Great job!

If i place the trap doors i can't access the crop plots
[Ru]Dolf same. Anyone know a fix to this?
Same
[Ru]Dolf This might be a stupid question but did u open the trap door first
Halo Man yes
in one of the patches post this video, they fucked up trapdoors. You'll have to remove the trap door to access the inventory, then replace the trapdoor. it's a pain, but it's what ya gotta do now.

Hey FPSOutback love your slowmo rimfire comparisons, I didnt realise you have a gaming channel also
Yeh mate it cost so much to run that other channel, I have to make the money back somehow.
xONEWINGx as always you deserve more subs! on all channels
Made these on a ramp and out of stone and it don't work. You have to delete the trapdoor to get in to the plants inventory
Yes I think they changed it in one of the latest patches :/
I can't find much info on it or any videos on a different way to armor it on a pillar
Kim Shh yep same
Same here, I would like to see suggestions on a fix.
can't even go down a damn ladder because of this. They need to fix it ASAP
The pillar method still works.
xONEWINGx great video! The species X can still be damaged with Ptero's doing barrel roll and if a Rex gets up on top it can also damage it fyi everyone.

why do you want the railings on the ceilings? preferred or necessary? great videos!
The railings protect the sides of the plot as well a providing the protection to the plant itself from the rex/giga. It is necessary.
That is some "D day" looking base defences. Would love to see them in action
Hey xONEWingx! : ) So I've made quite a few pillar armored x plants. I turned them on to kill a wild Bronto level 44 knocking down all the trees giving my place camouflage. is that armored to survive flame arrows???

Great vid just one question whats the view range on those plants it seems like they would be blocked. I dont think it was covered in there.
Their ark of fire is still good, they were asleep when the rex was attacking as it was nearly dead.
Still working? I didn’t this a year or so back and sometimes when it would fully grow it would break upon becoming max size. What did I do wrong
did this get changed or something in an update because I tried building this exactly how it says to in the video and it's not working
wow, thanks so much, this is awesome.
Excellent trick! I've already started implementing them in my base. I'm just curious how they hold up against quetzal attacks though. I play on a primitive server and right now the bred quetz can't be beat.
Will this same build work with metal?
Oop, got to the end... that's be a yes. Great video! :)
I managed to damage the foundation crop plot while crouching and hitting with a sword in between the gaps. Did something change, will this still work against dinos? It was made of stone. Love your videos btw.
Is this patched? Please answer
Works great thanks, ive built a pilar one, problem is. its impossible to access it without a bird, to feed it fertilizer etc.
Can you make a video about the trapper boat?
Amazing video and setup, pity i keep fudging it. Got the general gist but trying to do it on uneven terrain is freaking difficult. Does this still work if you create multiple armored xplants next to each other? e.g. a 2x2 square of armored xplants, or do the foundations need to be not snapped together?
Yeh it does, the building I showed at 10:00 has them next to each other. I don't know if they are easier to damage in that config though.

I just checked the 2 stone armoured plants I have on 650, they were attacked with what looks to be grenades, they are still there with a couple railings nearly broken but a kill count of a lv250 ptera, a lv60 turtle and a few lv70 people.
could we get a video on how to secure a base against rocket attacks?
Get auto turrets
if you place a foundation outwards you van make double walls and doorways
I am scathing with thatch for whatever reason i can't get the pillar numb to poke out of ceiling ??? any suggestions
my stone fence foundations stick out underneath. could they have changed the stone fence foundation?
nvm im just dumb and was not paying attention. stone railings not fence foundations
nice thnk u so much helps a lot on prim plus
is it true that you can't access the inventory of the crop plot once the hatchframe is in place and have to demo it to refresh the fertilizer?
No, just open the trapdoor.
Hello!
How long does it take to het a full grown plant?Mine is gone.
I have seeded the plant.Water tap above it ( constant 600 water )Enough poop etc in the crop pot.
Why is it not growing?
Thanks in advance!( i also subscribed to youre Channel!)
I've never timed it but it seems around 12hrs.
xONEWINGx Thanks for your reply!
i cant start out on any servers right now, because of turkey trials and when i set up something, a super turkey comes.
Please do a video on how to put turrets on a quetzal ? I've seen quetzals with turrets on them, also do you know a weight glitch for quetzals ?
I already have the "top 4 quetzal platforms" video, but plants ad autoturrets no longer work on dino platforms.
Eggsecuter flame arrows will still destroy them
sweet, thanks. what about the oil slick? ive seen ur vid on the item sack cheese and u threw and oil jar, does that enhance the damage or prolong it?
If you use a c4 on a plant x then youve already wasted resources for very little pay out lol
the stealing o nly works on small bases with almost non protection, if you got plenty of plant x standing next to each other then you cant steel it without dying.
danny de mooy
Steel? Seriously ?
Though a fast ptera can wipe nearly all the plants out. Unless you armor them
never seen that happen. most ppl dont get the change to get so far witht here bird, birds take more damage from turrets then other dinos
Working? Or is there a work around with s+ stuff
Does this make the xplants unable to be damaged till the armored stone/metal structure is destroyed? Or does this just protect the crop plot from being looted?
Its in the vid, protects plot and looting and some dino attacks but direct melee and rockets (and prob catapults) will destroy the plant.
Doesn't the railing impede the range?
Onceagain yes that's what happened to me
Devin Rowe Ok does it hurt the range alot?
Onceagain It shouldn’t matter if you can’t get attacks to hit getting closer will just make u a easier target
How do you armor crop plots for boats?
This build still the best in ASA?
on the second design (on the pillar) I can't seem to play the hatchframe. I made sure everything was even, snapped to the right places, etc. but it just won't let me. anyone know what I could have done wrong?
Start demolishing things until you can, then you'll know what went wrong for next time.
xONEWINGx thanks man
Its not letting me put a crop plot on the second ceiling
Try placing it before putting the pillar down.
xONEWINGx the pilar from the second ceiling?
yes
xONEWINGx thank you that helped
How does the trapdoor frame and trapdoor stay there when you get rid of the thatch ceilings?
As long as there is not more then two levels difference things will stay together.
For the house, I built it, but can not place items on the first level. Thinking about making a tower up in the center with another room.
Will the large crop plot stay irrigated even with the hatch down?
Yes
great vid thank you
is it the same thing one the expodition boat
Does this still work on pillars i tried to make this on a pillar today could not get hatch frame to place. i know they just did something to pillars in the last patch and just wanted to know if its lagging issue from public server or not... thanks
your a legend mate
Know this is old but does flame arrows still kill it?
I'm a little late to the party here but does this still work and does the rain still irrigate it?
THE1TRUEWHITEDEVIL I think so
does armoured plantX still work in current version? ive been unable to copy this, but i might just be doing it wrong.
No. Plants take damage.
question do you still play on 650? my friend and I are level 70 and have not been able to progress at all wake up to no base all the time because of trolls i dont bother anyone i litterlly have never raided a person never had the resources to do so any way you could help me out i could give you my cords
Nah I haven't been on 650 for a long time.
xONEWINGx have you ever gone troll hunting on NA 41? before the new servers came out everyone played on that server lol always full
But does it protect against cannons and catapults?
the hatch and trapdoor dont work any more so i went with giant hatchways
How?
Are you able to access the crop plot once the plant is fully grown?
Yes, you can jump in and open the trapdoor.
Is there a way to armour a plant x planted on a ceiling?
You on UE server 50?
You should read bed time stories for one video. Your voice is so soothing and crisp, that it relaxes my insomniatic wife.
Ariston Sparta he should
Do these armored plots still work with the current build?
tacp18 try it
this is *GENIUS*
