- How to make a motorboat that will trap everything in Ark, well at least most things. One boat to trap them all. Trapping and taming giganotosaurus boat build tutorial for dolphins to gigas, stegosaurus to argentavis, dilos to griffins.

I just built this on Xbox- everything in this video still works. I'm sure this will work for rexes and haven't tested it with a giga, but FYI anyone building this raft any storage structures placed by the driving area will be hit and demolished by trapped dinos- you need to put these as far back towards the ramp as possible. Additionally, Spino's do fit in these, but its very difficult to get them to fall in. I open up all the dino gates, kite the spino on top of the trap and fly around it so it rotates and falls in at just the right angle. Awesome raft to use!
I built this exactly. It works like a charm. Already tamed a 150 rex, now I've trapped and am taming a 140 shark. Thanks, man. This boat is awesome! Official PVE server 186
I figured out that you can put a working ballista on a floating foundation underneath a raft. That coupled with plant x make for a good primitive leed killer.

THis does not seem to work anymore using neither S+ or vanilla. Cannot place the gates on the back at "too far from foundation". What a shame, I was really looking forawad to building this epic boat.

The first time I used this I didn't realise I had the auto turrets set to wild dinos so as you could imagine my tame went really fuckin well😀

Wow.. i learned so many tricks from this. Thank you so much. I was trying to build an underwater cage for mantas and sharks on a raft and i was struggling really bad and kept reaching the cap, eventually i made it alot smaller and it could barely fit mantas
Were you able to replicate this build? Somebody in the comments said it was no longer possible to snap the gates below on this build.

Not as indestructible when made of stone. I build it vanilla style. no cheats.
I went for a boat ride West of Herby-Island. 1.5 minutes later I Took two Hits from a lvl 1 Alpha Leedsichthys.
All was destroyed(including me).

The official ARK Wiki said it cant damage stone , but believe me.. it can.
If they are in range of a raft they always hit, whether imbedded in stone or metal. Alpha Leeds are absurd, we've seen 5 alphas and 2 normal ones all together east of herb turned them to mosa food but it's the hot spot for them there.

Awesome video. 2 things I had issues with 1) couldn't place the ladder in the right spot no matter what I tried. 2) was only able to place the 2 extra ramps on one side the other said it was obstructed. Thanks for your video though.
Yo, if you did "How To" videos on litterally anything, youcd land millions of views. Your voice and accent is just so pleasent and comforting. And in reality thats like 60% of most youtuber fame. Look at CallMeKevin. His videos are ok-good. But that pleasent irish accent doh. It rakes it it brah
I'm having a problem (on PC). Everything works like magic except for the ladder. I've played the video frame by frame and I have verified that my hatchframe placed exactly the same as yours (there's a little bit of light showing between the hatchframe and the foundations, as is visible at your 8:05 mark) and my ladder is pulled out the same distance from the foundation (as is visible at your 9:09 mark), which means that I placed the pillars, ceilings and flipped-wall properly.
But in spite of the fact that everything looks identical to your video I can't climb the ladder to the deck, it keeps on dumping me back into the water.
The workaround I'm using at the moment is that I can snap a second ladder upwards, which takes me past the hatchfram and I can climb out, but of course this make the above-water taming pen less useful because larger animals can use that ladder as a step and get out of the pen. This means that I have to keep adding and removing the second ladder depending on whether I'm doing a land or water tame (and it's a bit of a pain to get that 2nd ladder to attach properly because of multiple competing snap points at that location).
Do you know if something has changed that would cause the ladder to fail?
Of course I figured it out almost immediately after posting the question.
When I put in the first pillar running downwards from the foundations, the first pillar went to a lower snap point and it needs to be on the higher snap point. If you build the pillars + ceilings + wall from the lower pillar snap point that creates too much of a gap between the top of the ladder and the hatchframe, and that gap allows the hatchframe to push you back into the water.

After making sure the 1st pillar was at the higher snap point, the ladder worked, but just barely (a catch at the top). I added another thatch roof and put a 2nd ladder on the opposite side of the hatchframe from the 1st and it works a bit more smoothly without a "catch" at the top. Not sure what would have happened if I had tried building out in that direction from the lower snap point pillar but I'm thinking it may have had a catch but still worked, since it seems slightly further away from the frame.

again, your builds are world class man. ive been doing iterations of your motorboat builds in raft but now im getting good black pearl with a shark that i caught with ... your raft lol. oddest thing happened though - last night i finished this build on a motorboat, grinded for a bit for the x2, then came back to find the first 4 foundations missing!! just completely gone - everything else intact. i make plans to replace them this morning only to find that they have been replaced?! i do have 2 tribemates but they were not on nor would they do a weird thing like this. not a big deal cos everythings back to normal but have you heard of this before? i am on PC playing official cluster and this was on the island map.

Can we get a materials list?
Pro tip: You can lay a fence foundation in before you place the pillar, lined up right in front of where it's supposed to go. This will allow you to sink foundations without using a ton of pillars.
Protip, the raft can still be damaged through the top if you do that. And you can pick up pillars now.
I made an identical metal raft and I guess it doesn't work anymore the giga just walked over the top 4 or 5 times and didn't fall in but it still works great for everything else.
Don't appear to be able to build under the motorboat on official. I can snap the pillars to foundations underneath but when I attempt to snap the thatch ceiling to them it keeps telling me its blocked. Any ideas?
PC local: Cant place the very first (thatch)Foundation after the initial lowering step. The thatch foundation is red when i try to place it level to the boats surface stating "is obstructed". Anyways awesome raft - thumbs up
Had to leave those two lowered foundations off because I couldn't access the boat. But great tutorial.
Did the rest of the build work? I just had the same issue with the lowered foundations
I had to play around to get the lowered foundations right but eventually was able to and can still access it.
Nice Video OneWing! I'm just having trouble with the metal ladder to climb back to the boat. When I delete the pillars and the thatch roofs the ladder gets destroyed as well, it is not sticking to the foundations. Help please :)

Sorry for the late reply, the answer is yes I just tried to build this boat and couldn't find that snap point. The solution is to build the first wall two high then ceiling on corner then two pillars down instead of one.
I had this issue but instead I got it to work by moving farther back even if I couldn't see it directly from my camera angle, assumed it was at the lower point and placed it and there it was.
i think they patched boats yet again cause this isn't playing out now but you do great work

I had a problem with this, after I made the 4x7 with the hole in the middle and lowered foundations just like him, I just didnt add the bottom part for water creatures and I couldnt place the gates, it said something like too high above ground and no snap point and I couldnt even place walls there either, pls help
I am also having this issue on a wooden raft. Any ideas?

For some reason it will no longer let me place my thatch foundation as far into the boat as yours is. Says it's obstructed. That's some garbage...
Never mind, I found a workaround to do the same thing. Lol
this comment will probably get burried for years.. but its EXTREMELY hard to trap a giga in this. keeps walking over the entire gap and over the gates, even when lined up perfectly. even had it stand on the edge of the ramps, and a single step forward shoots it over the gates. ive gotten very close but decided to trap it in a tradition 3 gate trap. lost my full imprint argy :(

See my latest video on the patch and its workarounds, you need to lower it twice over the rudder now and theres another method for floating the lower foundation as well, the latest patch broke a lot of things but it can still be made.
can we still build this on actual patch on official server ? Thanks !

I built off his platform but did not build the underwater part. I extended the trap and put higher walls at rear to stop dinos from jump over like a ramp. It works amazing. Playing on xbox official.

How well would the motorboat hold up to an Alpha Leedsichthys with the two turrets? Would it be able to escape/kill the leeds before going down?
This is great and all but where is average Joe gunna get black pearls without a water tame? I mean come on, I know I'm not the smartest in the bunch but I can't build a motorboat without the resources. So if you would please explain the other one?
Black pearl are far more readily available now. Motorboats are in loot drops on gen 2 you can also pick them up there. They've patched this boat out though, limiting Dino gates to 2.
I'm gonna have to make this now that there is no tame limit. Did they remove the snap-points on the large hatchframe on the inside or do you have to place the ladder before the door because our treehouse had a ladder going through the large hatchframe for roof access.

Great vid... just one comment, why on earth dont you just use the keypad to close the buttom (underwater) giant hatch when trapping water dinos ? and open the inner giant trapdoor when trying to get wild gigas out for that matter...
fair point about closing, but keypads change the direction they open, giant hatchframes open downwards when using a keypad making it harder to trap and cant get the dinos out.
Oh, i had never noticed that... but thats a fair point with the wild giga release ;-)

Tried this on a private server and it gave me too many gateways error. Was wondering if that was changed on official or not because I haven't been able to find any info on that. I can easily change it to allow me to build but want to keep it as close to official as possible.
Nevermind I found someone else saying they have now limited it to 2 metal gateways :(

Here’s a question... If you have to destroy one of the lowered inner foundations, AFTER placing all the thatch ceiling/metal foundations around... Can you replace the inner foundation at the lower snap? Is it possible? I’ve wasted a ton of resources because it keeps placing at the higher snap, despite showing it being in the lower when I hit the trigger.
yeh its possible but its competing with a lot more snap points at the higher level now, use your body to obstruct the high snap point and use the snap cycling button to find the lower one (prob oly briefly stays there).

How exactly do you get the stone gates to build on the raft? I always get a notice that it can't be built on a platform.
You can't place behemoth gates on it but dino gates are fine.

I use this to raid on pve servers works 100% of the time also easy way to kill other people's water tames that are the on neutral
So my build keeps saying that there are too many structures on the raft already and won’t let me finish the bottom of it and I built the top first, any suggestions?
This is a motorboat build, though I do how far you can get on a raft in this vid. The stone one is on a raft and there is no underwater pen. Motorboats allow 50 more pieces.
I will be building this tomorrow.

Hello, thanks for this amazing build and the great video tut. I’m new at Ark, yesterday i tryed to rebuild this boat. I used the raft and stone materials, but if i want to place the dinogates, at the back and left/right side rear i can’t place it and get the message its to high over the foundation. Did i something wrong or is it changed at a update? I also don’t build the underwater cage because i think i don’t have enough blocks and get the message you reached the maximum allowed blocks. With stone on a raft you have to use a 3x6 foundation, is that what you used? and no you cant place the underwater pen on the raft as well it has to be a separate raft like my "shark cage".
xONEWINGx no i used the 4x4 design like this ship. Ok than i will try another raft for the underwater taming. And later i will try it again with the motorboat. Thanks for the fast answer
xONEWINGx not entirely true. I was able to replicate the upper part of the design on a raft, including the gate on the floor. The key is to use a fence foundation for each Dino gate. So I put two fence foundations on each back corner to snap the back four gates, and went ahead and used two more fence foundations for the front most gates that attach to the ramp. Doing that allowed me to use the 4x6 layout and use all four Dino gates.
Trap an alpha Rex and use it as a weapon ? Or maybe a gaurd....

If its only lowered right down over the rudder, that's the only place it will take damage. If you lower it that low all over it can take damage from the top, just makes it a bit stronger.

This is a motorboat build, you have a lot more pieces available 138! this boat uses all of them. Towards the end of the video I show what 88 pieces looks like on a raft build.

Attempting this build on oc official ragnarok 96... something must have changed because when I go to put that first thatch foundation, it comes up as obstructed? Are you aware of any changes that prevent the same placement as you have there? Is there any workaround?
I'm not sure why but I seem to have trouble trapping a giga in mine... it goes up the ramp and over the back dino gates... failed a couple of different times now and almost lost a griffin lol thank goodness they are well tanky
I just tried yet again... it drops down into the trap section then somehow steps over the back and out... no idea how or why! Something must have changed regarding boat platforms? Does yours still work for you?
The only difference between mine and yours is mine lacks the underwater dino gate cage and it also lacks the lowered foundations over the rudder. Identical to your build in every other regard.

The same thing happened to me but with a rock ele, he was inside the trap but somehow like jumped over and out. I would assume thats whats happening with you also?
