So- back when all this happened, I was pretty right-wing. In high school, before, and for a while after, I wasa hardcore, shitty republican. Seeing Obama's effect on the masses and the hope it inspired had instead filled me with dread as I timidly held up a McCain-Palin flag, hoping for a miracle. Looking back at that now though I'm not really sure why I was that way. My parents were conservative, but not nearly so much as I was. My area where I lived is conservative (for California, anyway), but it, too, was swept up in the Obama hype. I feared Democrats though, for some stupid reason. As a kid I watched as Al Gore and John Kerry, who I viewed as people who would upset the status quo that had been good to me under George Bush (Not then knowing that any good stuff from the Bush administration was more or less leftovers from Clinton), were defeated by a man who seemed to really value what made America so good. Obviously as a small white privileged child I had no real idea what other people went through day to day. The idea of a Democrat taking over was terrifying... but inevitable. And it happened. I complained about everything he did even though now I look back at those things and think "No, that's the logical choice." You ever just want to smack your past self? This was even during 2008, when our house got foreclosed upon! I thought my parents had been swindled into a bad mortgage or something (Which I guess isn't exactly UNTRUE but still...)
In 2012, I was a little warmer toward Obama, but still voted Romney-Ryan because I was scared of Obamacare. There was a metric ton of misinformation and horror stories out there coming from the English healthcare system that made me certain that it was a bad idea. Though, in 2012, I was more of a Ron Paul centrist Republican... not that Romney wasn't Centrist, but I was kind of on my way westward from my far right initial idealogy. I didn't expect Romney to win, but I went out and voted for him anyway.
In comes 2016. I'm looking at two candidates that are just abysmal. Hillary and Trump? Jesus christ what a shitshow. I banged the drum for Johnson, voted for him, got a bunch of others to do so too. And do not get me wrong- Gary Johnson still was absolutely the best choice in 2016 without even a remote shadow of a doubt. Though now in a post-Trump world, I can see that Hillary, bad as she might have been, would never EVER have stooped as low as Trump has every single day of his presidency. Watching how this administration has botched every thing that has come across its lap has solidified my journey to the Left. I still generally consider myself somewhat centrist but with far more blue in my purple than red. I've been nostalgic every day for Obama's presidency, and wishing that I had taken the time to enjoy it when it was current. That's why earlier this year, I reregistered from Libertarian to Democrat. And while I voted for Mayor Pete (Who ended up dropping out before the primary but I'd already mailed in my ballot...), I'm cool with Biden. If anything, it might allow me to indulge a bit more into the Obama nostalgia that I more or less missed out on. I've spent the last couple days watching a lot of Obama/Biden stuff from that time, from the recent DNC, from the last decade+ in general.
Which finally led me here. This will be the first time since my own transformation that I've revisited Obama's 2008 DNC acceptance speech. I'm looking forward to watching it with completely different eyes than I had back then. And I don't know if Joe Biden will beat Donald Trump this November. I hope I don't come back to this comment and sigh sadly. All I can do is tap into that 2008 energy that everyone else had and... have a little Hope.

She is quite literally one of the most accomplished and well deserving people for the presidency and it’s so depressing to see her monumental achievements be absolutely shredded by the whole Bernie and Trump misinformation campaigns with some help by Russia’s interference against Hillary 😢 you should watch the Hillary documentary series on Hulu for a different perspective on her or watch the Howard Stern show with Hillary on TH-cam for free - it might give you a different perspective :)

I also liked how about a minute or so earlier he said that the reason our nation was in our sad state at that particular date was the failed policies of george w bush.
