Diego Chirico right but the people would have chose him that year to replace Kerry. He was a transformer. Only few people have ever communicated any where like that. Kennedy Reagan and Obama May be the three greatest communicators in our history. Obama said and did things that excited all of my Republican friends. As president he had class. Did not bring scandal to the White House. Just honor. He is a dying breed. The president now is not presidential at all. The Democrat nominees can’t carry Obama’s water but some how think they know better than him.

I think Obama's brilliance comes from not only his ability to be a spectacular orator, but to be able to weave gratitude and acknowledgement into every sentence. He takes the stage and immediately thanks others, and then spends the majority of the speech praising others. If you ever listen to his talks, many times he'll praise others without praising himself. That's the sign of a leader.

Even a once-Republican as I was, can wake up to the reality of how essential it is to open one's mind to that basic truth of true freedom does not lay in the Republican party. I am so glad I changed my mind. For good and for ever.

I think Barack Obama has given better speeches. But this being the first of its kind and the uniqueness of it, and the terms of his argument that became the themes of his campaigns and his presidency were all so new that it took the political by storm.
Previous great Democratic convention speeches were of candidates that never made it to the presidency. Kennedy in 80, Cuomo in 84 etc. Obama's rise from an unknown state senator to President of the United States in a mere four years is unheard of since at least the 1800s. Since Obama 04, we watch conventions to see who will speak in a similar manner and become an overnight star. But so far and I assume it'll be like this for a very long time, they've all fallen short.

    • @alejandroflores3214

+Hasan Ali Tulsi Gabbard might have a similar story. Though her speech at this year's DNC wasn't as powerful as Obama's in 2004, she could definitely be a rising star in years to come.
