I love this tutorial!! The thing with eyeliner is that is such a personal part of makeup because we all have different eye shapes. It’s like having different skin types and shades. You just need to get to know the shape of your eye first and then you’ll learn how to put liner on correctly to make your eyes the prettiest. Otherwise liner can close up your eye. That happens with me sometimes because I have very hooded eyes and if my liner is too thick it doesn’t look right. You have perfected your look, that’s for sure! :) xx
Before I had heard of tight lining, my upper water line was getting more and more pronounced. When I was a kid, everyone put kohl on their lower water line. I thought...why not put it on the upper water line. Then I started seeing tight lining all over you tube. You can imagine how proud I was. I first used L'Oreal Volluminous Smoldering Eyeliner in Brown ( sorry if the spelling is wrong but it's partially worn off). Then I've started using a gel eyeliner pencil called Catrice Liquid Metal Gel Eye Pencil in purple.
Thankyou I am soo glad I found you . I have just changed my skin care products to the ordinary . Can't believe the difference . Once again thank you so much 😘
I really enjoyed your video, Nadine. You are so down to earth and have such a pleasant voice. I can't wait to share your video with my 74 yr old mother. I will definitely be thinking of you as I get ready tomorrow morning.
Nadine, I found you today via the Pixiwoo channel. You are brilliant! I'm a 54 year old woman who adores makeup and struggling to find ways to work with my aging face parts! I have been searching for someone like you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I love you and will become a loyal subscriber! I have tight lined for years and swear by it. I love Bobbi Brown's long wear gel eye pencil... Very similar to the Laura Mercier, but seems to hold better. I have oily skin and tears eyes and it always stays and never transfers to my lower waterline. Also brilliant is the Hourglass 1.5 mm pencil, but it does tend to transfer more.
Nadine Baggott Ditto to the ladies above - I'm 39 and it's so refreshing to hear your take on things. AND it was an artist at Laura Mercier first taught me to tight line and for hooded lids where liner blots onto the upper lid it was a revelation!!!!
Laura Geller I-liner is my go to tight liner. Christmas time she often does a 6-color set at great value so you can try other colors, I always come back to Blackbird. All a deep rich tones, superb pigment; be sure to click when closing so gel doesn’t dry out. Has pullout sharpener built in end. Stays put through anything, until you (easily) wash off. Great for my sensitive eyes + contacts. I tight line midpoint out, blink hard (to smudge some on lower line) then touch up from midpoint in as needed.
Thank you so much for this. I am 43 but never really mastered my eyes. I have been told that my eyes are one of my strongest features but it's only been a couple of years since I started to wear any kind of eye make up. My lids are hooded (didn't know that was a thing) and that's why my eye makeup never looked like I thought it should. This video is super helpful because I too have not been able to do the liquid liners. I always look like i got punched in the face - lol. I will definitely be trying your techniques so thanks again!
Hello! So happy to find you! I have hooded eyes and very aged skin on my lids and love this idea! I don't feel I look old I just really notice while applying eye liner and shadow that it's easy to highlight the defects. Thanks so much for this!
I have an Eyeko pencil gel liner in a deep plum which I love for tight lining also Bobbie Brown black plum pencil like your shadow. As a makeup artist in New Zealand, I find a lot of older women use liner on the bottom because the find it too hard with a pencil on top. It just ages them, so I also recommend the powder & tight lining. I'm 53 & I love your videos
So relieved I found your channel via PixieWoo. I'm 35 but have small almond-shaped hooded asymmetric eyes (one is larger-WTF!) and find it so hard to do liner that doesn't look psychotic. Great tutorial! Will follow your suggestions xo
Tip: Wet the powder a bit before you line. That way it wont fall under the eye and your line will be sharper, but still dries in to that lovely soft shadow
Hi nadine I use to tightline a real techniques angled eyeliner brush with Laura merchier navy blue eyeshadow it’s loverly and again not a harsh colour , I am rubbish at a fluid liner with mature eyes it was a doddle when I was younger! But now this way very flattering,
Thank you for coming forward with this. The color is very pretty and I was amazed at how it doesn't overwhelm. At my age, less is more, so I'm trying to work with what I have. Just received this color in the mail yesterday, and tried it today. Whoa! Love it!
You are so nice and natural til listen to. I also find you very humorous and down to earth. I have pale skin with small eyes, with dark undereye area, and never thought I could wear eyeliner undtil I saw this video. Thank you xx
Thank you, Nadine. I never tight lined my eyes until I had them done by a Bobbi Brown consultant at Lewis's. Now I do it most days. Use the BB Perfectly Defined Gel Eyeliner in Scotch, which I like very much. Do you curl your eyelashes? Before or after eye make-up? I am a perfect novice at make-up because though I have always cleaned my face, etc. and used Estee Lauder products for years (Night Repair, etc.), I have tended to use the same old, same old products. Your channel is great for introducing people like me to newer products. I have also started to go to Cosmetic Counters when visiting London to have my make-up done. Clarins, Bobbi Brown are two. End up buying lots of things, though. Your videos are funny, entertaining, educational and I don't have to buy anything. But I get ideas for my next visit to London or look for them on the internet. So, Thank You Again.
Turned 50 this year and have been struggling with how to wear my makeup as my usual application styles don’t work as well anymore. Subscribed! and looking forward to more!! The eyeliner I love is Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense in Clove.
Favorite mascara of all time I found is Essence Lash Princess, false lash effect, black tube with minty green writing, give it a try you will love it! And very inexpensive also!
I use the PS I love you eyeliner from Primark for tightlining, I think it's brilliant and it goes on so easy as it's like a lipstick only the end is pointed, I've spent loads on expensive products for eyeing but this one is the best and it's cheap too.
Thank you Nadine. You are so wonderful! Glad I found you only about 2 weeks ago. So happy. You are definitely very very knowledgeable at what you do. Thanks again and you are so charming and not to mention beautiful. Thank you
Lovely and very helpful. I seem to remember that Lisa Eldridge has suggested that small eyes can benefit ( oddly) from being smudge lined underneath as well as on top. It widens the whole eye area or something. My elder sister has small eyes and has always 'splashed' her pencils/shadows around the whole eye: she looks amazing even at 70! I can't do it as I have big, round eyes and just look awful. I dare you to try it! I have a feeling you would look absolutely gorgeous.
What a fun video. Great to hear someone say "it doesn't have to be perfect"!! Thanks for the tips. I've stopped wearing eyeliner because I couldn't get it perfect, but I love your technique so will give this a try.
My eyes are small and hooded too, although a different shape. I used to do the powder over gel liner to set it, but it lasts all day just with the powder. I have an angled brush too, but it's tiny - about a third of the size of yours. It's very accurate and great where there's not much space to work in. I do use black but it's very soft if you use powder - mine is the black in the Naked Basics palette.
I love this! I am 24 and I love this for everyday, pulled together look at the office. Quick, light foundation, a good all over bronzer, lip gloss, and this eye and I am out the door!
Lovely tutorial; my eyes are very similar and close down with traditional eyeliner techniques so I'll definitely give it a try. What captivates me most is your lovely lip color please share what you're wearing...
I always remembered this video so went back today to remember which products you used. Off to get them. Thank you for this brilliant tutorial. One of my favs. 😉
I have to wet my brush and then dip it into the shadow before applying. The shadow goes on too light otherwise ...probably because my skin is a bit darker than yours.
I like a flat brush and Bobbi Brown black ink gel....I find if I don’t load too much on I get a good result but it took practice!!!! Loved your video so I subscribed....thank you
This is so funny - I've been doing the same thing for years... I periodically get into my head that I NEED to master liquid liner, then fail miserably (more so as my skin has gotten older) and always end up going back to powder and a brush... Never tried tightlining before, will give that a go this morning! ❤️❤️
What I love of about tightlining is being able to skip mascara if I feel like it. We used to do this before waterline makeup because mascara was so expensive and needed to be replaced so frequently. And DON’T sleep with eyeliner on or tightline if you have dry eyes; you’re blocking the oil glands that make your lacrimal fluid long lasting, which keep your eyes moist. Cataracts are what you DON’T want.
I have always pulled my eyes for liner 😉 at age of 14 and 44 😜 and result is gorgeous much better than without pulling. Question of practice I guess.. love your Chanel
Me too, via Pixxiwoo! I'm 41 and have had small hooded eyes my whole life. Since eyeliner transfers to my oily lid I've always skipped it. Until I started watching TH-cam, and learned how or I should say found out what I had been doing had a name (tight-line) . Back to the oily lids add watery to the mix and the only product I've found is waterproof mascara in brown on a angled liner brush. Since waterproof mascara is hard on eyelashes and I'm getting older, I'm going to try the MAC eyeliner talked-about in the clip. Thanks for the tips, I'm loving your channel!
Loving your videos Nadine! I love eye lining with powder too, sometimes I use a damp brush for a more intense look but I find it's softer and more forgiving than a liquid or gel. x
Tightliner is fab. Ive been using LM but with a brush and a pressed powder compact that you wet. Its amazing but a faff. The eye pencil looks lots easier!
Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner, or Perfectly Defined Gel Pencil Liner in Scotch, or Chocolate Truffle. Another comparable pencil is Bare Minerals Lasting line in Forever Brandy or Enduring Espresso. All of these are excellent for doing just as you demonstrated. I love them on both lash line and tightline
Omg I have watched so many videos about makeup and just found you. Thanks I will be trying this look this morning using Smashbox Miss Chili dark brown eye shadow and Smashbox Sumatra which is also dark brown ( both a warm brown) pencil. I am a redhead with eyes just like yours. Great video now going to have a look at your other videos.
Oh yes eyeliner is the pain of my life as I have matured, as a youngster I did a young twiggy eye so now I am so frustrated ! I don’t do my upper lid I just tight line but it definitely looks like somethings missing, but I will have another go your way, thanks in anticipation, liz
I highly recommend Urban decay 24/7 waterline pencil for tightlining. Its malliable for about 30secs after that it doesnt budge at all. So waterproof and last all day. But remember to clean it off with a cotton bud at the end of the day.
Farzana Mannan You mean the chubby white/plastic eyeliner ones? I just got a few of those and love them and all colors. . Was in Toronto last week vacationing and used them they stayed out nicely! Maybe since is colder there hells tons? Back in S. California all others seem to melt away on these hooded eyes and warmer weather. How do you sharpen those though? I’m truly confused hoping is not only the tip that is usable?
Makeupforever Aqua eyes waterproof liner. I've tried a ton of other brands from L'oreal to Marc Jacobs, I always comeback to MFU for stay put pencil liner to tightline.
Hi, I bought MAC Buried Treasure on your recommendation today and I've just tried it for the first time 15 minutes ago. I love that I can tight line without having the eyeliner transfer to my lower lash line! Thanks for the tip :-)
I love your look! I really love MAC Macroviolet fluidline as an alternative to black on my brown eyes but I am going to try your eyeshadow idea instead. You are so beautiful!
Hi Nadine...new subscriber here and I wish I had found you before. I learned to tight line with the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner and a Bobbi Brown eye brush (small but pointed). I think, though, it is easier with the eyeliner pencil. I always tight line because although my eyes are large, it seems my eyelashes are thinning and I adore the look of thicker lashes. Tight lining gives the illusion of fuller lashes. Thanks for the video.
I LOVE Inglot gel eyeliner pots. You can do exact lines and smudgy ones AND even put it in your waterline and it goes nowhere. You need a really good oil based remover and patience to get it off. I often find that waterproof eyeliners still run out of my waterline and down my cheeks so I was skeptical when someone raved about it (bet this is another product that works for all but me) but it worked and it comes in SO many colours. Try it Nadine. I'm 46. Like you I can't do beautiful immaculate winged liner. Got lid crinkles from years of laughing 😁 so tightlining or a smudgy smokey line are my go to options. I'm going to try your brown option for day time, using #inglot
hi i havd the same issue transfers to bottom lid but all the top tight lightening has all gone....any suggestions..even applied a nude liner on the botton to lessen tge transferring but still no luck..? any suggestions please???😊😊
thank you so much for this video.......I have hooded eyes and I think I've done this by accident and loved it !!! ill have to try again !!!!! xo Simone
I am slowly working my way through all your vids & found this one exceptionally helpful.....I am useless with liquid E.L. & use Laura Mercier pencils - but don't really like the results so I can't wait to try the powder with angled brush...I have an Urban Decay Naked Palette with taups & browns so hope I might be able to emulate ....... The tight lining I find makes such a difference without looking too heavy. I agree about eyes being "closed up" if I put m-up on bottom lids...I put a soft smudge with my soft contour colour. I suddenly realised who you remind me of - especially when you smile & wrinkle your nose = Felicity Kendal !
This might freak a few people out but about 15 years ago, I had my upper eyelids tight line tattooed. A lot of it has faded since it is a different type of skin vs your actual eyeliner which is tattooed also (upper and lower). 😎🤗 I just go over it with different colors if I want to change the color.
Wow, there's such a thing as a 30x magnified mirror! And here I thought my 10x magnified mirror was quite the magnification! I've never tried the eyeshadow as an eyeliner, but you make it look so easy. I currently tightline my eyes with the Marc Jacobs Highliner gel eyeliner & I love it! I received a sample. I still can't apply it with my eye closed, slowly working on that. Oh, and the liquid eyeliner, just forget that all together! 😤 But I would like to give the powder technique a try. I'm trying to find eyeliner and eyeshadow tips that will make it easier for me. Thank you for this video! I also just subscribed to your channel. 😊
Thanks for these really excellent videos, Nadine! I was wondering if there is any way you can successfully tightline if you wear contact lenses? I see Miss Tickle says she has problems with colouring the lenses in... any hints, secrets!?
MAC Teddy is an awesome frontline pencil and also for under lower lashes!!! If you use your finger to roll your eye lash back you can do it with your eyes open! Just try!!!
Nadine, I have very sensitive green eyes and I’ve tried many brands including Clinique for eyeliners, I always go back to Almay long wearing in black. Any suggestions for a better quality eyeliner for sensitive green eyes that lasts because even Clinique irritates my eyes.. color..??
I literally have a shopping list after this! I also line my eyes with a Bobbi Brown shadow but the shade you used is just gorgeous and I need it in my life! xoxo Shahrzad
Hi Nadine, I'm trying to master the liner and with practice, it will happen! I have a Bobbi Brown eyebrow brush which has a slanted angle to it and is quite stiff with a Suqqu eyeshadow palette (darkest colour) in Himesango No. 11. x
Hello Nadine. I remember that Guerlain had a powder eyeliner - Guerlain Terracotta Khol Eyeliner that was called. Now there is Estée Lauder Smudgy Matte Eyeliner. All the best
Me again I bought all. The colours of wonder 2 liners and they set before my eyes start to water and even after ten hours my liner is still there I do the lower water line in vanilla ! It looks pretty , I have blue eyes I like the aubergine and the emerald liners the silver and gold are very pretty too ! I hope this helps others who as getting older is such a pain !
I am 62 and love makeup! You are so enjoyable to watch.
I love this tutorial!! The thing with eyeliner is that is such a personal part of makeup because we all have different eye shapes. It’s like having different skin types and shades. Then I've started using a gel eyeliner pencil called Catrice Liquid Metal Gel Eye Pencil in purple.
Thankyou I am soo glad I found you . I have just changed my skin care products to the ordinary . Can't believe the difference . Once again thank you so much 😘
You are so helpful to us older women! Love it.
I really enjoyed your video, Nadine. You are so down to earth and have such a pleasant voice. I can't wait to share your video with my 74 yr old mother. I will definitely be thinking of you as I get ready tomorrow morning.

Terri McAninch same age as me x
Nadine Baggott Ditto to the ladies above - I'm 39 and it's so refreshing to hear your take on things. AND it was an artist at Laura Mercier first taught me to tight line and for hooded lids where liner blots onto the upper lid it was a revelation!!!!

ILOVEYOU!!! MUA IN TRAINING HERE as an older person 42... this is sooo helpful thank you
Thank you so much for this.
Thanks a lot, Nadine. New things in my shopping bags! I've been trying gel eyeliners and having terrible results, so this is just in time for me.
I love a magnifying mirror. This define's your eye's so much.
Hello! So happy to find you!
I have hooded eyes and very aged skin on my lids and love this idea! I don't feel I look old I just really notice while applying eye liner and shadow that it's easy to highlight the defects. Thanks so much for this!
To apply gel liner you can use the pencil as well, just dip the point of the pencil into the gel and apply on the top waterline !
Brilliant. So easy, and looks so good.
Hi nadine I use to tightline a real techniques angled eyeliner brush with Laura merchier navy blue eyeshadow it’s loverly and again not a harsh colour , I am rubbish at a fluid liner with mature eyes it was a doddle when I was younger! But now this way very flattering,
I have never mastered liquid liner at all. I used to use powder to line but completely got out of the habit. You've inspired me to start again!
Lorraine Tresnak
Me either. Won’t even begin to try at my age. Lol!
Thank you xx
thank YOU X tell all of your friends to subscribe and watch
Yes I will do that :-)
Thank you, Nadine. Favorite mascara of all time I found is Essence Lash Princess, false lash effect, black tube with minty green writing, give it a try you will love it!
And very inexpensive also!

I love them too! All three colors I ordered sooo good. I really notice my eyelashes grow with these. And so cheap & awesome!
I use the PS I love you eyeliner from Primark for tightlining, I think it's brilliant and it goes on so easy as it's like a lipstick only the end is pointed, I've spent loads on expensive products for eyeing but this one is the best and it's cheap too.
Jean Moore oh now I need to buy it x
Thank you Nadine. You are so wonderful! Glad I found you only about 2 weeks ago. So happy. You are definitely very very knowledgeable at what you do. Thanks again and you are so charming and not to mention beautiful. Thank you

Thank you Nadine, for a great tutorial, Bee from Malaysia, 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😍
I just discovered the Marc Jacob Fineliner in brown for tightlining. I do not use any other liner on my hooded eyes for it makes my eyes too small.
30x wow you are a brave woman. I'd run screaming and have nightmares for weeks! great tips thank you so much!
Burberry Jet Black Effortless Kohl Eyeliner is AMAZING for tight lining...I don't know what I would do w/o it! 😍
I love your grounded personality, very refreshing x
I have to wet my brush and then dip it into the shadow before applying. The shadow goes on too light otherwise ...probably because my skin is a bit darker than yours.
Excellent technique . Use it all be time.
I like a flat brush and Bobbi Brown black ink gel....I find if I don’t load too much on I get a good result but it took practice!!!! Loved your video so I subscribed....thank you

Nearly midnight but this girlie hangout was fab and you saved me from neeearly clicking checkout on highliner gel 0.0 thanks Nadine 🌻
Thank you! So helpful and super fun to watch.
Great video! Love all the fab advice you give. Will defiantly be getting the bobbi brown eyeshadow, thanks again 😀 X
Best tips ever. I have same eye shape as you so this was very helpful
You're naturally beautiful!
Hi, I also have discovered your channel from Pixiwoo. I am really enjoying watching and am soaking up so many brilliant tips ❤
Thank you Nadine - loved this. I now 'need' that bobbi brown eyeshadow!
I am loving Nyx pencils. Gorgeous and inexpensive!! Win win!!

How do you sharpen those though? I’m truly confused hoping is not only the tip that is usable?
I love Mally waterproof eyeliner pencil in Espresso. Its the only liner that stays put all day on my somewhat crepey eyelids!
Makeupforever Aqua eyes waterproof liner. I've tried a ton of other brands from L'oreal to Marc Jacobs, I always comeback to MFU for stay put pencil liner to tightline.
Thank you for these fabulous hints!
Hi, I bought MAC Buried Treasure on your recommendation today and I've just tried it for the first time 15 minutes ago. I love that I can tight line without having the eyeliner transfer to my lower lash line! Thanks for the tip :-)
This is so helpful! Off to practice this technique.
Fantastic tutorial! Thank you so much. I absolutely love your videos. Extremely informative.
Awesome tip, thank you! You look great in this video, what are you wearing on your lips?
Looks so easy Nadine must try it in morning 😘
kimberley hughes if I can do it trust me you can xx
Brilliant love this will try it tomorrow ! Thanks so much .
I have just found your channel. WOW, you are something. I love, love , love your videos.
Where did you get your 30x mirror ?
THANK YOU PLEASE tell all of your friends - let's do this together X
Selfridges, BUT little local pharmacies in the UK do them - mine has a suction cup on the back so it great to stick to a window X
I tight line as well, but for some reason it always transfers to the bottom line on my left eye! Great video Nadine! 😍
hi i havd the same issue transfers to bottom lid but all the top tight lightening has all gone....any suggestions..even applied a nude liner on the botton to lessen tge transferring but still no luck..? any suggestions please???😊😊
thank you so much for this video.......I have hooded eyes and I think I've done this by accident and loved it !!! ill have to try again !!!!! xo Simone
Looks amazing love your videos always great info, now to order one of the liners x
Great video! I love the Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Demolition for tight lining :)
Hi Nadine! I'm a new subscriber and I love watching your videos. This was very helpful!
Artlovin' I was once mistaken for her daughter xxx
great video, handy tips xx
This might freak a few people out but about 15 years ago, I had my upper eyelids tight line tattooed. A lot of it has faded since it is a different type of skin vs your actual eyeliner which is tattooed also (upper and lower). 😎🤗 I just go over it with different colors if I want to change the color.
I use a brush similar to yours, and dark brown eyeshadow.
Tight Lining: L’Oréal Infallible Matte-Matic, Sephora Glide Liner-waterproof. I also love MAC eyekohl in Teddy for eyeliner or waterline.
Thanks for these really excellent videos, Nadine! I was wondering if there is any way you can successfully tightline if you wear contact lenses? I see Miss Tickle says she has problems with colouring the lenses in... any hints, secrets!?
Brilliant video - love it!
"I would rather look into my imperfections before anybody else" ❤
MAC Teddy is an awesome frontline pencil and also for under lower lashes!!! If you use your finger to roll your eye lash back you can do it with your eyes open! Just try!!!
Nadine, I have very sensitive green eyes and I’ve tried many brands including Clinique for eyeliners, I always go back to Almay long wearing in black. Any suggestions for a better quality eyeliner for sensitive green eyes that lasts because even Clinique irritates my eyes.. color..??
Thank you for your information and demonstration you're very kind. X
You are such a beautiful lady!! Thank you for sharing this!
