      Hi guys! I wanted to reach out with a question, but first I’ll give a quick intro to my current running journey. I signed up for my first half marathon in mid May, I’ve built up to 12 mile runs and I’ve been running intervals to increase my speed. I currently am running in Gel nimbus lite 2s and I love them, they have kept me from getting shin splints or other injures. I also weigh 205 Lbs now, down from 220 plus. So I really need/favor the cushion. But now as I’m increasing speed and I have a goal to finish at/ under 2:00 hours, I wanted to find something with the best of both worlds, cushion and speed. I definitely heel strike and felt lost in a pair of brooks that didn’t have much heel. I was thinking about the New Balance fuel cell super comp trainers ? I was wondering if you had any suggestions ! Thanks a ton !

    As Mike Ehrmantraut of BCS might say, "Here's what's going to happen. You're going to wake up one day, maybe in a month, maybe a year, and you're going to find you're reaching for the Endorphin Pro 3 every day. It'll start with races. But then you'll lean on them in workouts, or when you're babying an injury, or really long runs. And finally, easy days. And you're going to be OK." God, I miss that guy.

    Current daily trainer/LR shoes are the new 1080, Cloudmonster and NovaBlast3 coming soon. Tempo and speedwork, the Hyperion Tempo, Speed2, Takumi Sen7 for the track. For race day I save my Takumi Sen 8 (5K, 10K) and now have the Edge+ which I’ll test out at CIM HM (relay) and consider for Boston, but am also probably going to pick up the Endo Pro 3 to consider for that as well.

    My current lineup
    Race: Vaporfly 2
    Tempo: Endorphin Speed 2
    Daily: Clifton 8
    Recovery: More V4
    I’m looking to get the Novablast 3 next as my hoka’s are getting long in the tooth only 160 miles in. The Speed 2 has been amazing except it’s just a bit unstable for easy paces, so I might find something else for my long runs. I’m more than happy with my race and recovery options, and I’m only intrigued by other race shoes simply just to see how they feel.

    Hello. I would like your advice. I started running more actively and experimenting with sneakers. I am preparing for a half marathon. I have a Vomero 17, a Nimbus 25 and today I bought and tested the Adizero SL2. Vomero 17 - soft, stable, I like them for easy runs. I was excited about the Nimbus 25 at first, but now they seem cumbersome and very slow. SL2 - excellent: today both the pace improved, and the speed, and the heart rate did not increase. My question is, should I replace the Nimbus 25 with something else for slow recovery runs? Are they not needed at all with Vomero 17? And what sneakers would you recommend for my collection to close all questions? I will be very grateful.

    My current rotation is the novablast 3, peg turbo next nature, and vaporfly 2.
    Easy/Daily: I put 500 miles in my first pair of novablast 2s, and 300 more in my second pair. The additional stack and new foam is a massive upgrade, It feel massively more comfortable and bouncy while being way lighter. I have 75 miles in them now and they just keep feeling better.
    Tempo (kinda): I've been using the peg turbo since I was able to get a pair for like $90, and I kinda like it? I typically just rotate it on my easy days with the noablast, and it's ok. It takes a few miles to warm up the foam and after that it's pretty bouncy. I've also used it for a 12 mile long run after a race which really surprised me with how good I ended up feeling. I can pick up the pace decently well, but the novablast is overall better.
    Threshold/Race day: The vaportfly is just so good. I have about 150 miles in my pair and they just feel so good. Anything from 400 reps to mile or 2k repeats feels amazing. I use them maybe once or twice a week but thanks to the zoomx foam after every workout I just feel great.
    Race day (spikes): Dragonflys. They're the best spike I've ever used. my prs from 400 all the way to 8k all happened in one pair of dragonflys.

    One aspect you didn't address is stability. I have moderate pronation (worse in left foot that right). I can and do run my races, even marathons, in neutral shoes, but I can't do all my training in neutrals, so I alternate. I have max-cushioned stability shoes for easy runs, more minimalist stability shoes which I use for some speedwork and some long runs, and nylon-plated neutral shoes for speedwork and some races. I save my carbon-plated shoes for marathons and other races where I'm going for pb.

      @@Strizzle81 Yeah i know everyone has different bodies and preferences but I just personally found them a bit harsh considering the foam feels soft. would like to know what everyone's shoe they would grab is if they could only have ONE for everything. I used the rebel v2 as my one shoe, but I only go up to a half marathon as my long race, I prefer 10k as the best distance. I'm excited to try rebel v3

      I recently tried them on while traveling in an Asics store and 1/2 size down fit me very well. I asked my favorite independent running store to order them for me in that size. However, it’s a wise idea to try both sizes because it may depend on where your particular foot (especially larger foot if they aren’t the same) falls within your size, hence the varying opinions. My rotation: New Balance 880s / Rebel V2s / Takumi Sen 8s. It's funny to hear you call the Takumi Sens a tempo shoe, and use "race day" as meaning marathon shoe. Do most people run marathons? I get that if you already have marathon super shoes you can wear them in 10ks and 5ks. But for those of us who don't run marathons a pair of Takumi Sens (on sale for $110!) make a lot more sense.

    • @Martha-fluterunner
      @Martha-fluterunner 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Takumi Sen 8 is my 5K/10K race shoe and I could possibly take them up to HM distance. I do not waste them on training speedwork. I have other shoes (like the Hyperion Tempo or even TS7 on the track) for that.

    • @dpeddler123
      @dpeddler123 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was also thinking exactly this, most of my races are 5/10k and chose the TS8 over supershoes for that distance. I've tried super shoes for 5/10k and of course they are really good, but can't quite find the times I can get in the TS8 - it's underrated! So light, nimble and fast, not sure how they can improve it but hopefully a 9 will come.

    stuff you're going to look for in Canada is fit, durability (though most reviewers can't estimate with 100 miles), cushioning AND TRACTION IN WINTER... Endorphin Speed 2 and Novablast 3 (though TR version might be) are definite nope for winter season.

    Ill have to go back and look at the NB3 reviews but I dont remember anyone saying it was that much different than the NB2 if so its a hard pass for me, shoe just doesn't work for me same with the Alphafly...(hmm I may be deleted after those two comments - dont hate me LOL) Takumi Sen is something I have wanted to try out for a bit so Ill probably give that a go. Same with the Metaspeed Edge my local store doesn't carry either so Ill just have to bite the bullet and pick up a pair.
    For my own lineup lets see probably all NB Rebel v2, SC Trainer, SC Racer (although I only have one 5 mile run in it so far - loved the RC Elite 2 and still have a lot of life in them) if I was gonna add one other shoe in I would probably swap the Rebel v2 out (its got over 300 miles in it) for the Hoka Mach5 and go Daily/Long - SC Trainer, Speed (I like to do it on the track) Hoka Mach 5, Race SC elite.

    I find that building a shoe rotation is easy. You just buy all the shoes that shoe-tubers rave about.
    The trouble seems to be wearing them out so you can justify buying new shoes. Right now I'm struggling to wear out the Novablast and Endorphin Speed so I can buy the 3's; but when you have like 7 pairs of shoes it's hard for an average runner to rack up the miles in them.
    I dont really do races; so that category doesnt matter as much for me, but of course you still want that shoe that makes you feel fast for those runs when you try for a new pb.
