Brilliant comparison. Like to Meaghan and Thomas. I prefer: Best do it all=Asics superblast. Race day= Hyperion Max(half marathon). Tempo run, farleks, uphill= Saucony Kinvara14. Daily trainer= NB fuelcell rebel v3. A nice day for everyone.
I have to say one thing, whenever I’m looking for a pair of new rumning shoes, your channel is the first step in my research. You guys are doing a lot of great work and I really do THANK YOU for what you’re doing! On the other hand, I’m checking all of your videos just for fun as well, it’s so calming and fun to watch. At the same time I see and feel all of y’all are running freaks, you love running and stuff around it, and I feel you! Keep doing great work, sending a lot of ❤ from Slovakia!!!
100%. First thing I do is look at their reviews, and go from there. That’s how I determined to get the Boston 12 and my most recent 1080v12 (even though they put the 13’s here) Best reviewers, and best running adjacent podcast 😅👌🏻
@@therangersinger nah they aren't. The outsole on Deviate Nitro 2 in particular, is superb. Tried it on a light trail and the traction is wonderful even when running downhill.
Saucony Ride 16 is my favorite do-it-all shoe. It’s surprisingly good at both tempo days and racing but can also eat up those recovery/long runs. You can also argue that it’s a little too firm for recovery though.
Boston 12 is a superb shoe..works for all my runs, my only issue is the upper but once you work past that it’s a dream..I plan to stock up once the sales are back
I did an Amazon try before you buy on four of these shoes that you recommend. I ended up choosing the ghost max, but the way that you described each of the shoes was spot on the money. You guys really know these shoes in and out and I appreciate you describing them so accurately! Thx!
I'm a new heavier runner and don't have anything as far as a rotation. Just my plodding along days and I'm running the Ghost Max because of your initial review. I do own Glycerins and regular Ghosts, but man that Ghost Max is just fantastic.
Adidas Boston 12 is GREAT!!! Got mine on sale for a ridiculously low $64. They didn’t have my preferred size (Men’s 9) or colors (yellow/black), but the Women’s 10.5 (in Blue) fits perfectly. 👍👍
Agree with the Boston 12 - Best do it all shoe and probably the best shoe for a new runner for their first race. Easily Best shoe out there for under $180
I want the vaporfly soooo badly but i struggle with how narrow Nike is in the arch every time. Is that shoe any different? Had to return Alphafly 2's because of that
Bought my first pair of actual running shoes today thanks to recommendations from a friend and this channel. Got the NB 1080 v13 and am blown away by how comfortable they are! Thanks for all the reviews y’all do! Makes it very accessible for a newbie like me.
Enjoying the SC Trainer V2 as my workout/long run/race shoe and then wearing a Nimbus 25 for easy days. I tend to favor max cushions. I’d like to try a 1080 or Ghost Max. Surprised not to see any Saucony on your list. Idk why, but I just can’t get into Nike or Adidas.
Believe in tbe run always lean towards very soft / mushy (for me) daily shoes - everyone is different and your winners are for me - in dont even touch category 😅
Does anyone know if the speed 3s are in any way comparable to the 2s? I’m thinking of buying the 3s but heard they are nothing like the 2s and have gone too cushiony?
Personally, I hated the Endo Speed 3 so much I sold them on Ebay after only using then about 100 miles. The heel counter hit me wrong and pressed on my Achilles - I'm usually not sensitive there. I felt it was too cushy, and too tall. It's very bouncy and soft, but fit me completely wrong to the point where I felt as if I would get hurt using them. I loved my Speed 2s. I also loved the Pro 2s and was afraid to try the Pro 3s based on how much I disliked the Speed 3s. Someone at the run shop basically told me to "suck it up and run" in the 3s and I did try, I wanted to like them, but I just didn't. I found Puma Deviate Nitro 2 and Boston 12s to replace. Also love my Endo Elite's I got as a one off in a clearance sale at a run shop! Shoe gods were blessing me.with those at a deep discount, I'm gonna say to make up for my bad experience with the Speed 3s. 😂
One shoe that came out this year that hasn't been covered or mentions is the asics kinsei max. What a shoe. Amazing feeling , such a smooth transition while running and, in my opinion, is the best-looking shoe to drop in years.
ADIDAS question please?! I fell in love with my Boston 9s wore them for every kind of workout (thankfully bought a couple of pair as I still wear them on TM days) and just haven't been able to stomach the huge change in the shoe. Is the newest version worth trying? Note: I do NOT like super cush shoes and have a really thin heel, so the lockdown vs. slippage is a big deal to this gal who once suffered greatly from PF. I tend toward a mild stability shoe as well, but can run neutral if it leans towards a stable base. Input greatly appreciated, thanks! ~Megan ps. I like your name too! :D
Still think the 3 isn't as good an overall race shoe as the 1 or 2 but definitely better for the marathon as it doesn't feel as lithe but more cushioned and made for longer runs. Be interested to see your thoughts on the Alphafly 3! Hoka Rocket X2 is my favourite race shoe of 2023.
The guys at Doctors of Running gave the ASICS GT-2000 12 rave reviews. The obvious stability “king” that most running TH-cam channels recommend is the Saucony Tempus.
I was excited for the 1080v13 but couldn’t stand it on my foot. The upper is almost too “plush” and the midsole was soft garbage with zero response. BTR is great but everyone needs to try these things on in a store to see what actually feels good on your own foot fr.
I do Love your reviews and believe you been accurate with my favorite HOKA’s. Suggestion - Do a review on what watches you prefer. Question - Sorry, but I have to ask: Are Megan and Thomas a couple? Mr Nosy
Surprised by the Ghost Max on the list. I was at a running store last week, I asked their opinion on this shoe. They said it was a good shoe to walk around in but I wouldn’t run in it.
Wow!!! Brooks Ghost Max came out of nowhere...might have to check it out. I thought that last category should've been the Super Trainers (Boston 12 and NB SC Trainer v2)... it would be interesting what they'll put in that category now for the part 2.
Love my NB 1080 v13! Like buttah! I can pick up the pace in them a little because they are pretty lightweight, but I wouldn't run a marathon or race in them, so, yeah, daily trainer, perfect lane. I am less excited about my NB SC Trainers. I didn't have the prior iteration, but these seem a bit heavy and a little too firm to me. I am all about the cushion. Soooo, not sure how I feel about the NB SC line changes coming but, we shall see. Thanks for your videos!
Let's Be Clear: 2023 was YEAR OF SAUCONY Raceday- Saucony endorphin elite Daily - Saucony ride 17 Short race - Saucony kinvara pro Max - Saucony Triumph 21 Do it All - Saucony Triumph 21 Runner up - Brooks Hyperion Max
Agree that the Endorphin Elite is definitely the race shoe of the year that's available to mass market 💚💚👍 A couple of TH-cam reviewers who were racing in NIKE are now racing in the Elite. I was singing the Elites's praises from day 1 (a far superior race day shoe than anything else Saucony has released). That Saucony are still charging top prices for it a few months from release of the Endorphin Pro 4 and Elite v2 says a lot about how good this shoe is. None of the huge discounts that we see on NIKE and adidas shoes (or the Endorphin Pro 3) here. Just a shame that it's now very limited availability in just the two colourways 😔 I'll definitely be running my Spring Marathon in them (first shoe in a long while that I will be wearing for a 3rd Marathon).
Hoka rocket x2 shoe of the year..smooth,soft,stable and decent durability..hoping they leave it alone..hoka has a bad habit of ruining most of their shoes..
Takumi sen 9 half marathon shoe? Way too unstable and minimal imo. I've literally not seen one person run these at that distance. Pro 3 is adidas race shoe for all distances 5k and up and does a better job in every way. Even the boston 12 would be a better choice. Don't get me wrong I like my sen 9 for track workouts and intervals for up to 5k.
A friend of mine wore it for Boston and it worked great for him. He’s big and tall, I’m very petite and I can certainly wear it for a HM and possibly full though I probably wouldn’t for the latter.
@tav4755 I see more variation of shoes the further back you are at races. All the top boys are wearing vaporfly or similar. No way is anyone competitive wearing sen 9. Even the front park runners are in the latest super shoes. I'm speaking about the uk.

Puma velocity Nitro 2, Saucony triumph 21, Nike vomero 17, Topo Cyclone 2
Puma Deviate Nitro 2 + Endorphin Speed 3

Yes to deviate nitro 2 👍
Hell no to speed 3 - but let's replace it with tempus - and we have a winner 😊
Nah, both were overrated.

Isn’t the 1080 a max cushion? I always thought 880 was daily trainer and 1080 was max cushion.
Yes. But shoes like the 880 aren't exciting enough for TH-cam videos. They are the most underrated training shoes category no one talks about.
@@snowwalker9999 I love the 880s, such a good shoe...
Looks like I made the right choice getting the Boston 12 recently while it was on discount. Lacing needs to be fixed.
Boston 12 is the shoe of the year without a doubt. It's been a while since I had this consistent shoe for every training pace.
70$ in USA, while in EU 120€+...
Boston 12 dead foam. Barely acceptable
One shoe that came out this year that hasn't been covered or mentions is the asics kinsei max. What a shoe. Amazing feeling , such a smooth transition while running and, in my opinion, is the best-looking shoe to drop in years.
I want to try that shoe on so bad but for me it’s an online order only :(
I think the 1080v13 is overrated.. it’s 165$ & there’s no density to the eva so it’s not gonna have any durability

Very confused about the NB V13. Some reviewers hate it, others totally love it.
Thinking the same thing… makes me wonder if they are trying to get on NBs good side. Regardless if they aren’t paid for the review or not.

Adidas really made a home run this year, and the first Nike shoe is full 👍
Why isn’t speed/tempo/treshold a category? A good workout shoe
Because everybody wants a plated supertrainer.
So why don't they like Brooks shoes?
