Leonard Cohen asked ppl to stop recording this song after kd's version saying it is the quintessential one. I was lucky enough to be there that night and what made it even more emotional was the death of a luge athlete earlier that day. kd lang is the truth and Tony Bennett called her the greatest singer that ever lived.
Wow! That is incredible!
He said she took it to "its ultimate state of blissful perfection."
This is the best rendition of this song. EVER.
When a voice can silence that many people ...
As a fellow Canadian, K.D. Lang is an icon!
kd lang is the only singer I listen to do this song anymore.
I think this secular interpretation might have been Leonard Cohen’s favorite. She sang it at his induction to the Canadian Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and at the tribute concert on the 1 year anniversary of Cohen’s death.
Thanks for reacting.
Very powerful rendition.
My understanding is that the organizers asked Leonard Cohen perform it and he told them to get k.d. lang to sing it.
@@edwardlongshanks827sounds about right ;)
KD sang Cryin’ as a tribute to Roy Orbison! Chills! Just stunning!
Will add that one to my list. Thanks.
@@SaeedReacts. yeah .. they sang it together also - Leonard loved KD & so did Roy
I have been fortunate enough to see her perform in concert three times. As you can imagine, it was an amazing experience.😊
Thats amazing!
I am so glad you have reacted to kd lang.. not enough reactors have found her… she is the best female singer of my generation… saw her perform many times …here in Perth Western Australia …in her prime… so please please react to more live videos … her voice and breath control is perfect ..before auto tuning..pure pure kd all the way…
Definitely want to check out more of her performances. This one was so powerful.
I saw her twice here in the States; the first time I went by myself and it was absolutely epic. The only concert that topped that experience was when the one and only time I saw Leonard Cohen (State Theatre in Detroit); I took my mom as a mother's day present because she LOVED LC. We ended up sitting in the orchestra pit - and we were less than 10 feet away from LC and Julie and Perla. I made my mom hang out behind the theatre after the concert like true groupies and we ended up meeting LC and getting his and everyone's autograph; he shook our hands and thanked us for coming and enjoying the show. He was so genuine and warm. We almost ended up following his bus to Chicago! LOL
I remember watching the performance live on TV and couldn't stop thinking about it for days. It's such an emotional performance to watch and I can't not cry every time. Her voice is the voice of an angel. Love seeing your emotional reaction too!
Very powerful! Thanks so much for watching.
She is the best with this song...bar none!!
CONSTANT CRAVING and
CRYING are EPIC!
kd Lang has the most amazing voice! Her rendition of this song is my favourite.
Her tribute performance of Crying to Roy Orbison is also stunning.
Definitely want to check that one out as well. Thanks.
In 1987 she had her first U.S. hit, “Crying,” a duet with country singer Roy Orbison; the song won the Grammy Award for best country vocal collaboration
Every time she does this she give subtle variations that just mesmerizes me . As stunning as this is ,it’s not necessarily my favorite of hers. A different but stunning cover of So In Love kills me it’s so beautiful. Constant Craving or Miss Chatelaine are wonderful. She’s a Vocal Artist of the highest quality.
kd lang is amazing! Her version of this is my favorite. ❤️ She has an amazing performance of this from the Canada JUNO awards. Brilliant! You must check out more of her! Thanks for another great reaction. ☮️❤️😎
This rendition really hit me hard. Wow. Powerful. Thanks for watching.
I never heard of her until a month ago when I saw her sing this at the Canadian Olympics on You Tube and then even better at the Australian Lang awards. That was unbelievable. I just love her. Check out her duet singing "Crying" with Orbison. Leonard said after hearing her singing this that she now owned the song.
Kd was singing to God that day. As one empath to another, i was so glad to see someone who really felt this song the way I did. I watched her on tv that day amazed but not surprised to see her wow the whole world with that voice. I am a Canadian and recognize her as the national treasure she is. Her song list is extensive, covering everything from Roy Orbisons Crying to her fabulous Constant Craving. Hope you dive a little deeper into her music. She is just wonderful! Bucket list hope is to see her in concert one day before I die. Love KD Lang to pieces!
Hope you get to see her one day 🤞
I have had the honor and pure pleasure of seeing k.d 5 times. The 1st time was at some country fair in the late 80's. Her young voice was powerful and wild. TH-cam Johnny Carson, he introduced k.d to the American audience. Her performances on his show were fantastic. Her live performances were always better than any recording, in my experience. She is the greatest singer of our time.❤
Thats amazing! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to discover more.

KD Lang's voice is like Heaven. There's another live version with her in all black and she's barefoot. It's fire 🔥 but so is this one.
Must check that one out at some point.
kd is best known for 1992’s “Constant Craving”, which was her biggest selling song. She had previously won Grammies for her 1989 duet with Roy Orbison on a rerelease of “Crying”, and her performance on the country album ‘Absolute Torch and Twang’.
Very quirky in the early days of her career. She came out as gay, after her ‘Ingenue’ album, which included “Constant Craving”. The surrounding controversy got her banned from a number of US radio stations.
I must check out some of her other music. Love this performance.
@@SaeedReacts.
Her solos of “Crying” are good. If you can find her performance at Roy Orbison’s tribute, it’s powerful.
Roy’s wife asked kd to sing it at his induction to the Songwriters Hall of Fame after he had passed.
She’s actually got a co-writing credit with The Rolling Stones. Keith Richards unconsciously lifted a part of the “Constant Craving” melody likely because his daughter was listening to it in the house.
Crying’ - In 1987 she had her first U.S. hit, “Crying,” a duet with country singer Roy Orbison; the song won the Grammy Award for best country vocal collaboration.
I need to check that one out.
I saw her at the Hollywood Bowl and the show was amazing but this song was other worldly.
You've stumbled onto another Canadian icon! Anything live will blow you away. She was a drag king way ahead of the curve. You're on a roll, with Joni Mitchell and Faouzia. We claim Faouzia as one of our own. ;-) She came here as an infant, from Casablanca.
Powerful performance. The other day i recorded a reaction to her performance of Crying, which was also very moving.
Amazing rendition and voice . Hallelujah ! No need to add words .
Great reaction and yes, what you mentioned makes sense
So powerful. Thanks so much for watching. Have a wonderful day, Orly.
She also did this beautiful song at a awards show in Canada and she was barefoot & it was amazing. Bon Jovi also did a live version of this on MTV Unplugged was also fantastic.
She was barefoot in this performance too.
The best! ❤
Thank you for reviewing this stellar Canadian singer. This is my favourite rendition and it really moves me. K D Lang is a national treasure. Please check out her other work. You will not be disappointed.
Definitely need to hear more! This was so powerful!
I had forgotten how beautifully she had performed that song. I felt it all over again. Wow that was so different but beautiful! I loved it.
So powerful. Love it too. Thanks for watching.
Can relate to the empath impact on listening to music. I am one, and music, especially something this exceptional, really moves me, sometimes beyond words.
KD is so special!
Very powerful and moving!
I've been listening to K.D. Lang for I don't know how many years!! There's nobody on the planet that can sing like her. She' s one in a BILLION!!!! And, by the way, I don't think she owns a pair of shoes. But, she doesn't need them!!!!!
This was a powerful performance. Definitely want to hear more of her music.
In her young days, she wore cowboy boots that she cut to the ankle!
New subscriber here ❤ glad you have discovered k d lang she is amazing the late great Roy Orbison asked her to duet on his song Crying for a film, when he passed away the family gave her the song her version at the tribute for Roy or her MTV Unplugged versions are stunning if you would like to react to her early ‘Cowpunk’ country phase as someone else said she was quirky but so much fun, Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray (a Patsy Cline cover) Bopalena, Turn Me Round, Big Boned Gal just a few suggestions x
Thanks so much for subscribing and for the recommendations. Will add these to my list. Have a wonderful day.
Two k.d. lang videos I recommended are What a Wonderful World and Crying.
Thanks for the recommendation. Definitely want to check those out.
An athlete had lost his life in bobsled trails that day and I think the performance of this song was just what the lord intended too settle the emotions of the day.
Oh, did not know that. So much power and emotion in this song.
If you've never heard of KD you need to check out her version of Roy Orbison's "Crying".
I recorded a reaction to that version before I left on vacation, but still need to upload it. It was amazing!
@@SaeedReacts.Especially when she performed it impromptu on an Australian talk show!
The Canadien Olympic commity ask Cohen to do that song and he said nop, ask KD to do it, it's her's now. I saw an entreview wher she explain that she studied the song, and never failed for the religious meaning of that song, she was convince that it was a love story, wich Cohen confirmed. After her interpretation on the JUNO in 2007(Canadien music award) he said that she truely carry the spirit of that song. He explained that ''making love is probably the closes to God you can get: Hallelujah''
Thanks for sharing that story. Amazing!
Constant Craving 🎶❣️💝
Very proud of our k.d.! born in the same province as I was.......Alberta, Canada.
...
So good! This might be my favorite version i ever heard.
@@SaeedReacts. Mine too, without doubt. She has a fantastic voice, & whatever she sings is world class.
@@SaeedReacts. I hate nearly every version of this song. Too many warblers and screamers have overdone it and ruined it and only 2 other Canadians have done justice to the Canadian master's original. After Mr Cohen, (who I met, in London back in the late 60s) this is so good and captures the mood of the song. Then there's Rufus Wainwright's version. Other than those you can keep the rest.
It helps that I've loved KD's work, since she started out. As for Rufus - born in New York but raised in Canada, in quite a musical family - the McGarrigles and the Wainwrights.
Tolle Reaktion ❤️ ich gebe Dir voll und ganz recht, egal wie oft und von wem dieses Lied vorgetragen wird, es hinterlässt immer einen anderen Eindruck und das ist für mich der Zauber von Musik 😊
Thanks so much. Music is really magical ❤️
If you want to see a very different kd lang, she also performed at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. She had the athletes partying.
Definitely want to hear more. Loved this performance. Thanks for watching.
kd is amazing...no matter what she sings. Another fantastic cover by her is her MTV Unplugged version of Crying. (Don't ignore her original work though.p!)

KD Lang singing "Hallelujah" at the 2010 Toronto Olympics! The Very Best!!!
He requested K.D. to perform it at his Cdn Songwriter’s Induction Ceremony (show cbc likely), Leonard Cohen did not intend it to be soft and sweet. Check out ‘Suzanne’. He was a genius.
Your reaction was great. You are very intuitive. Thank you.
Thanks so much! ❤️ Have a wonderful day.
I feel your pain. I'm an empath, too. I wouldn't change but it's a burden sometimes.
It definitely is, but like you said i would not change a thing.
If you liked this song, you should go down the KD Lang rabbit hole, old and new. Kean
Definitely want to explore more. Thanks for watching, Kean!
Please compare to KD Lang at Calgary Olympics in 88
Pentatonix is still my favorite version of Hallelujah but this is absolutely beautiful. I also love her version of Crying in the MTV Unplugged tribute to Roy Orbison. So emotional and moving.
Definitely want to check that out. A few people suggested this. Thanks so much for watching.
Myles Kennedy does a brilliant rendition of Hallelujah
Will add that one to my list. Thanks.
master
Pretty great huh... Listen to her sing "Crying" by Orbison
I just reacted to that one. Amazing!
She nevers sings it the same way twice...
Need to check out more versions.
Songwriting? If a songwriter deserve a Nobel Prize, that was Leonard Cohen and not Bob Nasal Dylan. My options without too much thinking:
The Year Of The Cat - Al Steward (with Alan Parsons producing)
Vincent - Don McLean
American Pie - Don McLean
The Load Out/Stay - Jackson Brown
Bernie Taupin (Elton John)
Prince (songwriter, music writer, multi instrumentalist, ultra wide range singer, producer, sound engineer...
If you're looking for something else from k d, try "My Old Addiction". I think it's better than Hallelujah.
Will add this one to my list. Thanks!
Listen to David Draiman do Sounds of Silence on Conan.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Kd lang is the best imo but Allie Sherlock and 12 Yr old Fionn Whelan recent cover is up there with the best imo
Havent heard that one yet.
You're beautiful.
This isn’t a love song, this is absolutely about abuse of indigenous peoples under the guise of the Catholic church! This was never written to be revered as a beautiful song, it was well written about damage from abuse. Period
..he wrote this song long Before all the abuse came to light and it isn't a "religious " song...
When Vancouver doesn't riot.
