Would love to see an hour long walkthrough with a host explaining the how and why of each part of the process. Design, prototyping, materials, machinery, rubber ‘body’ manufacturing, assembly of lenses and other parts, design and manufacture if the filter canisters, and on and on. Also a separate 30+ minute video about testing. How and where is testing done? Do you send sample units to some government lab where they have specimens of mustard gas, sarin, VX, phosgene, chlorine, anthrax, enriched uranium and plutonium powder etc to definitively test the masks and filters? If not (I assume not haha!) how is the testing of efficacy performed without real samples of the threats these are rated for?
Whoa..so to touch on the testing topic - TRAs (test representative agents) are used to test filters. These mimic the properties of the various target chemicals but safely. Obviously, having novichok lying around in a lab for testing is extremely dangerous, illegal, and totally irresponsible. One thing to consider in the case of Mustard gas, chlorine, and blister agents is that these chemical weapons have been in use for over a hundred years. So the types of filter components to protect a user from these class of chemical agents have been proven long ago. Hope that helps.
@@MIRASafety thank you for the response. That is very informative and the last part about having a long history of what works for agents that have been around for so long makes sense!
