Yes, 100%. It's the perfect mask for this type of protection. The visibility is excellent, covers your entire face which is much better than the half face respirators you might be seeing on the news from the disaster zone. The type of filter you choose is the most important choice for protection, so keep that in mind. Our ParticleMax P3 filters filter the ash particulate, but the bigger concern is what is being burned. In a fire of this scale, many toxic chemicals are being release from the combustion of plastics, structures, vehicles, etc. The bigger concern is the Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs) being release from this type of combustion. Exhalation exits through the sides of the filter mount housing. Its a great mask. Keep in mind, the mask uses silicon. Not as robust and resistant to mustard / blister agents as bromobutyl rubber found in our other masks, but will protect you when you need to GTFO.

Fair point! So, people with facial hair claim using vaseline on a beard will allow for a proper seal. We do not recommend this, and gas masks are the reason the military has grooming standards for soldiers being clean shaven - gas masks..This grooming standard was adopted during WW1 when chemical weapons were first being deployed en mass on the battlefield and gas masks were first being widely developed to counter act this new threat.

Yes AJ used a clorox wipe to clean the mask. Soap and water is recommended over using strong chemicals which, over time, can degrade the rubber. Occasionally using wipes such as these is ok, but generally mild soap and water is preferred.

What are you asking specifically in regards to "Civ" radios? The usage of the speech diaphragm is pretty simple, you just talk! Its design does all the work, and makes communicating while wearing the mask very easy. Does that help?

Whoa..so to touch on the testing topic - TRAs (test representative agents) are used to test filters. These mimic the properties of the various target chemicals but safely. Obviously, having novichok lying around in a lab for testing is extremely dangerous, illegal, and totally irresponsible. One thing to consider in the case of Mustard gas, chlorine, and blister agents is that these chemical weapons have been in use for over a hundred years. So the types of filter components to protect a user from these class of chemical agents have been proven long ago. Hope that helps.

It kind pf depends on where you live and what are the potential threats you might face while evacuating. If you live near an industrial facility, nuclear power plant, or rail line where hazardous materials are transported on, the NBC-77 would cover these types of potential airborne contaminants. If you lived in a wildfire area, and your bag was designed for this region, the VK-530 or 700 would be a good filter to have in your bag as it is designed for smoke evac/evasion. If you lived in an urban setting, the P-CAN might be the best solution for the higher possibility of civil unrest and the deployment of tear gas (CS/OC).

Our CM6, CM7, and CM8, and the newly released C21 are all CBRN rated. TheCM-i01 is made of silicon and is not resistant to certain chemical weapons such as blister agents. Bromobutyl rubber is what distinguishes a CBRN rated mask, as it is resistant to these types of threats. The bigger question is the filter.. you need a CBRN mask, and a CBRN rated filter in order to be protected.

The majority of MOPP suits are warm to wear. Thats just the nature of the materials and design needed to protect a user in these types of environments. That said, our version is as breathable as you can have without sacrificing the protection level it provides.

Yes, the hood fits over a ballistic helmet and a mask for full protection. There is enough room underneath to wear a plate carrier, or could be worn on top of the suit, but that would expose the plate carrier to possible contamination and would have to be decon-ed properly.

The mask can be used effectively by LEO, military, and civilians equally. It offers the same level of protection no matter what uniform you may be wearing. Flannel or fatigues!
