Jeanie is loved like her dad was and Dr.Buss was loved, Dr.Buss also was just the owner and made sure that the fans got what they paid for simple as that. I think Jeanie timeline is waiting for Phil but we as fans don't want another season of crap jeanie please fire Jim Buss right now and start off fresh, let Mitch Kupchak be head of basketball operations or someone else Mitch should not be a scape goat for Jim Buss its unfair.
And I feel you on your comment. But she is just following his dads last will before he died. I know this is hard for us Lakers fans to bare because it is horrible in what j buss has put on the table so far. But let's give him this year where there is no distractions no kobe on our team a clean slate if he does another stupidity like he has done so far then remove him. Very good interview. Not sure if I'm the only 1 who felt this way but it seems like Jerry Buss wanting his son to run the team is the ONLY reason why Jeanie hasn't fired Jim yet. it's almost like he's dangling for dear life from a cliff and Jeanie has his hand but can barely keep her grasp and the only thing that's helping her hold on to it is her Father's voice inside her head yelling at her. This is a fucked up situation for any sibling to be in.

Just a PSA for everyone who doesn't understand, JIM BUSS a member of the BUSS FAMILY who owns the Lakers, he is part owner of the Lakers, he being part owner dictates ownership, therefore the job as President of Basketball Operations is HIS to decide whether he operates the position or not. JEANIE BUSS can't fire her brother as he is part OWNER, it would be up to him to choose whether he steps down or not, POINT IS if Jim no longer controlling Basketball Operations is the best thing for the Lakers which it very may well be, that is a decision he has to make, NOT JEANIE, SHAREHOLDERS or anyone else.

+Nick Arndt Jeanie is not running the show Jim is. What is interesting about this, is that Jeanie is the one who has total control of the organization. This means she could fire her brother and there is nothing he could do about it. Her dad left her in control for a reason. I saw an interview she did last year where she stated that she was going to give her brother 5 years to give him a chance to see what he can do. My guess is that if things don't get turned around the next couple of years, Jeanie is going to fire Jim. Jeanie is like her dad, she knows what she is doing.
It must make them really feel bad that they want to get the team back to the glory days yet no matter what they (Busses Progeny) do it does not work. Seems to be that they are not cutting it.

What Dr. Jerry buss did was be there for his players and make them feel welcome to the organization. Unlike Jim his the opposite he wants his share of the pie and make those decisions and usurp Mitch kuptchacks decisions at times and he's never there for his players be doesn't make them feel welcome and take care of them. and Jeanie is so similar to what his dad was. Plus if the Lakers weren't good the great Dr. jerry buss did pres conferences and interviews and he made us laker fans know that we actually had a future and gave us some product even tho it took time to rebuild. And she as Jeanie usually does gave composed intelligent answers. All of his questions were pretty solid, I didn't hear any softball's.
For the people who don't know Jeannie knows basketball and business,unfortunately her brother is running the basketball side she honestly cares about her team she grew up with the team.

As a longtime Lakers fan (since the 80s) let me say this: Can Jeanie PLEASE grow a pair and give Jim his walking papers? It's clear to me that she is not the authoritative figure in the organization (not even knowing about Scott's firing) and she can't even bring herself to say that she would be the person to fire Jim should Lakers continue to be bad. How can the Laker fans such as myself be confident in a team that has a huge void at the top? It's time for Jeanie to stop spin her way out of every interview she's in and take charge of the Lakers. Give Jim (and Mitch) one more season to make the playoffs or leave. Or maybe the fans should start clamoring for Jim's resignation since the 2016-17 season is going to suck even worse without Kobe.

Recent downfall started when they traded Lamar Odom. Of course many will say when league rescinded Chris Paul trade. But league had taken control of New Orleans so they at time could not have traded Paul. They won in 2009 and 10. Then got smoked by OKC in playoffs in 2011. And then did nothing to improve team.
Blame David Stern for killing the Lakers and making them this way. The Chris Paul trade would have brought an additional championship, maybe even 2.
I feel bad for her. That kind of pressure would cripple me.
Ask her a real question. Why was Byron Scott relegated to coaching a glorified lottery team, season ends Kobe re tires, Scott gets the boot, in comes Luke Walton, and now the mighty proclamation, We will go after big name free agents now

Most powerful woman in sports: runs one of sports' most glamorous teams, still very laissez-faire with her handling of management, vocal about her lack of actual basketball acumen which she helps mask with Jim Buss and Kupchak. Great. IMO, Jimmy should be shown the door and Phil Jackson (or, hell, even someone else) needs to get in there.
Someone smart who knows basketball at a high level. I think the big fear is that Jeanie is so openly not about the actual on-floor product that Jim, while IMO incompetent, is the only liaison, which is why people want Phil Jackson back.
