i agree with Rob about the AAU mentality of many NBA players now. They just look to stack the deck or just team up with their buddies to win. like you might as well not even have organized team names anymore, players are basically mercenaries for hire, and make it like playground basketball where you just pick your own teammates. Theres no true team rivalries anymore among teams. The rivalry era died awhile ago

That's because fans and sports writers put so much emphasis on legacy that players feel as though they have to do drastic moves to cement their legacies. Think about it, if say LeBron never got a ring no matter how great he performed night in and night out, he would be killed for it. 2 some guys are chasing that bag, but I've seen more players take pay cuts then they used to back in the day. Players still have rivalries, it's just not with the vitriol and down right hatred that made Detroit not like Jordan. but some teams still have rivalries not as deep seeded as it once was, but do you really want to see another Rudy T getting his jaw broken or another malice in the palace? We are part to blame for this perceived lack of rivalry as fans but definitely the media

NBA players don’t seem to be competing. They would rather buddy up and win championships against little resistance.
Competing is more intense when both parties involved hate or dislike each other. That's undeniable.
Probably the only time I have ever agreed w Rob parker. I love rivalries. Some of my favorite times was at OSU waking up at 5am to blasting music wanting to destroy everything there is about Michigan. No blue at all on the streets of Columbus. It was so amazing. People who have never experienced that type of thing just dont get and that's understandable because they can't know what haven't experienced

They still have green, Steph and boogie and without Durant on the books they can go and get some quality bench players which is what they were missing this year. And Klay will be back mid season. Not likely to make the finals but that will still probably make to game 6-7 of the second round.

Why does a team have to “fall out” for the lakers to get it. It’s not like you’re guaranteed a spot if you made it the year before. If the lakers are good they just need to be better than the other teams. That doesn’t mean the other teams drop off
Why wouldn't AD be able to fit on the Lakers. He can play on and off the ball. He has guard handling skills. He can defend rim protect, rebound, can even play make. He should fit in easily. He can even be the 1st option while Lbj takes a step back and facilitates. Or he can even shift into a 2nd option and take become the 1st down the line.

People laugh at rob last year for saying lakers won't even make the playoffs as others like SAS had the lakers going to the WCF after acquiring lebron. He was right. The argument most had was, if lakers without lebron, had 35 wins the previous season, you can easily add 15 more wins to that with lebron, and they'd have 50. easily a playoff number. Bad calculation it turned out as they added just 2 more wins with lebron at 37.
