      It's a convenient resource, but doesn't compare to the feel of experiencing it in real time. In the 80's & 90's basketball was played at such a high level. And it's no fault of modern players, it's the era of free agency. Guys used to play entire careers together, and that makes for great team basketball. Now it's more iso.

    Rodman would have Green kicked out the game by exploiting the latter's fiery emotional style of play...too easy to get into Draymond's head, if the opposing player is very capable (and rodman was, indeed, extremely capable).
    Pippen's rangy defense would keep Curry's numbers way down, by limiting penetration and ensuring that Steph could only take deep threes. Yes - he'd make some of them; but of course, not with as high a percentage as he'd make closer-in threes. He'd get tired sooner, too.
    Jordan would rob Klay of his soul and desire to play. Klay tends to disappear for stretches anyway...with an all-time elite player like Mike, who's the same size but far, far more athletic, much stronger, a lot more explosive and more cerebral, Klay would end up avoiding the ball and rushing any shots he did get, while being completely unable to challenge Jordan's offense. Also, Klay's the weakest of the Warriors' Big Three mentally. Michael would wreck him.

      +brassmonkeyjew heres why warriors wouldnt win: the league is different. It is soft it is weak in defence, back in MJ's era, to get to the basket, you would have to get knocked down. Trust me, curry and klay and even durant cant guard mj and pippen. And cmon if you cant guard kyrie, jr smith and kevin love then lets not talk about jordan.

    • @jianye3317

Im pretty sure you know that back in the day if shooters were catching fire, they will knock them out or give them a good physical test which both curry and klay have no clue of. Sure MJ and Pippen can't shoot as well as Curry and Klay but the only statistic you are missing right now that had hindered your argument is Rings my friend. 6 beats 1. End of story

      Also, Kukoc was a lousy defender, but nobody cared about that and rightfully so back then, because he didn't need to be.
      Don't go off on the Bulls/Warriors comparison etc., the Bulls would probably beat the Warriors 9 times out of 10 in a 7-game series. I'm just saying you don't need to make stuff up to back up your argument.

Yes the 3 point specialists could win a few games when hot, but MJ, Pippen, and Rodman were so consistently dominant leading to why they 3 peated and why the Warriors didn't repeat plain and simple!

    TLDR; The Warriors forced 73 wins. Bulls weren't even trying that hard after 70 wins, they already got the record and #1 seed. If they had the hindsight knowledge that the Warriors would get 73, they might've went for 74. 96 Bulls were 0.83 in the Playoffs, 16 GSW was 0.63. 96 Bulls were 0.87 in the RS+Playoffs, 16 GSW was 0.83
    Long version:
    The thing a lot of Warriors fans forget is that the 73-9 record was forced. They were intent on getting it to the point of even taking a risk of being not optimally rested for the playoffs to get the record. The Bulls on the other hand simply got the Lakers' 69 win record out of the way and played comfortable basketball from there, MJ literally said this on their 70th win and made it clear that he's glad all the talk about having the best record was out of the way so that they could play comfortably so that they're ready for the playoffs. They weren't desperate to win anymore games after that, they weren't attempting to get 72, they were so great that they simply racked up 2 more wins playing basketball at a comfortable pace, they already got the #1 win record and #1 seed. Who's to say if the record was 73 wins before the 96 season, that the Bulls would've have tried to get 74 wins if they wanted to?
    To add to what Colin was saying, this is why the regular season can't be used to prove the better roster, even when it's for the Bulls' case having 72 wins over the Lakers' 69, I'm sure the Lakers would've went for 73 as well if they knew the Bulls would get 72 many decades later. Three facts remains true: No team in NBA history has ever attempted to win 82 games in the regular season (they have wanted the record which is entirely different). Fact 2 is that in the playoffs, they're trying to get those wins ASAP and move on to the next series. And lastly, no team prefers taking games off in the playoffs, if they can play their most optimal lineups, they will do it. This is why the playoffs is legit. No easy baskets, dunks are kept simple on fast breaks, no "rest days", etc it is the most accurate measurement.
    The 1996 Bulls were a 0.83 team in the playoffs. The 2016 Warriors were only a 0.63 team AND THEY DIDN'T WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. With that being said, if you combine the playoff + regular season record for both the Bulls and Warriors, the Bulls win that too. The 1996 Bulls were a 0.87 win team when you combine the regular season and playoffs. The 2016 Warriors were 0.83 win team when you combine the regular season and playoffs.

      +Devan McClaine What other metric could I be talking about? I was referring to wins.
      Secondly, I never said anyone would sweep anyone. Whether thew Warriors or Bulls would win is another debate I can't be bothered arguing with anyone. My whole point was that using GSW's 73 win record of the regular season as a way to measure them as better than the Bull's 72 win record of the regular season is arbitrary, just as it would be to use the Bull's 72 win record against the Laker's 69 win record. 95-96 was my senior year of high school. Let me give you some insight to that team. Saw many of their games during the season and playoffs. 9 out of 10 times the game would go like this. After the 1st quarter the score might be 26 - 21 Bulls. At halftime 53 - 48 Bulls. Then at the end of the 3rd quarter the Bulls would be up between 18 and 25 points. The starters would not play much in the 4th, and they'd win the game by 12 to 20 points. How did this happen? The Bulls would come out after halftime and play the greatest defense I've ever seen in my life, in any sport. It was like flipping a switch, they could turn it on at will. They were better than the Bad Boys (and I'm from Detroit). Jordan, Rodman, Pippen and even Harper would fly around, get steals, blocks, force tough shots and get out on the break for easy buckets. They were suffocating. The other team would score between 6 and 12 points in the 3rd quarter and the game was over.

      Jonathan Blaze it was that full court trap defense that you don't see anymore lol the length of that starting lineup was ridiculous. not a player under 6'6. best defense I've ever seen

      Right you got 2 6'6 guards. 2 6'8 forwards, all long arms and athletic flying around plus a 7'2 center backing them up. Best defense I've seen.

      Well I found out when I was 7 years old (1985) I have the same birthday as MJ (Feb 17th) so that made me like him even more. But I always liked Jordan. We had to fight so hard to get respect and get past the Celtics that the Bulls were an after thought. Until they started challenging the Pistons for real (88). But after the Bulls 1st title I let go of any bad feelings and just rooted for the Bulls, especially by 93 when they made a run for the 1st 3 peat. So by 96 the bad feelings were long gone. And they had Rodman who everyone in Detroit loved. So I had zero negativity rooting for the Bulls by then. I can't speak for everyone in Detroit though.

  • @AlphaDwg
    @AlphaDwg 8 ปีที่แล้ว +44

    The bulls would have actually been able to go small ball and defend the warriors. Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Harper are all 6'6 or taller and could match up with the warrior small ball line up and actually dominate it.

    • @AlphaDwg
      @AlphaDwg 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +James Lockman he never beat the bulls so your point is stupid. Also the bulls would have been able to cover them perimeter. if the Celtics can do it the bulls sure as hell can. And good luck playing against Jordan with no rim protection. The bulls small line up would not have a player shorter than 6'6. The bucks have a similar sized small line up with no player under 6'6 and they gave the warriors fits and even beat them this year. Sorry I'm taking the 96' Bulls. It's actually a favorable match up for them.

    • @jameslockman7664
      @jameslockman7664 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      AlphaDwg okay first of all, using one game as proof that a team can be stopped is the epitome of stupidity. Saying things like "the Celtics did it, so could they" or "the bucks did it, so could they" is retarded because I can do the same thing. In 96 the bulls lost to the Knicks and the clippers. So then I can be like "if the clippers stopped the bulls so could gsw". It's retarded. And fyi Reggie averaged 24 vs the bulls and the warriors basically have 2 reggies. No rim protection? Ever heard of Andrew bogut or draymond green? Talk about ignorance. Plus, the bulls struggled against elite point guards and curry is basically THE elite point guard. klay and iguodala would guard Jordan better than most,

    The big difference between Football and Basketball is that you can legitimately say that an older team could legitimately beat some of these modern-day teams, why because speed doesn't matter that much in the NBA. The only thing that really changes in the NBA is the style of play only the contact rules are different really. That Bulls team would run rough shod over the Warriors in a 7 game series

Say what you want about curry being soft, his range makes him weird to defend and help defenders feel useless since its his range that is opening everything up. Combine that with smart quick role players who can pass and shoot and you have threats across the board.

    Hey, I'm going to be 29 this year and my favorite sports team of all time, in ANY sport, is the '96 Bulls. I grew up with Jordan. He was magical. He seemed untouchable. I was 4 years old when the Dream Team played in the Olympics, and loved him ever since (my dad would always be watching the games so I'd watch with him.) Jordan is very much a big part of my childhood formative years, and is the same for a lot of late 20s/30s aged people out there. It's not just you really old guys ;)

      I will look at the line up to confirm. All I know is that I think Golden State would go up very well against any team in history, due to the simple fact that their small ball is built for perfection against any team, and other small ball lineups. I watched every game of the Bulls, and the teams they had trouble with were teams like Golden State. They lost to the Toronto Raptors twice with Damon Stoudemire, and alway had trouble with that guy, lol.

    Relying on a 30ft chuck over 2 defenders isn't a smart play, just a lucky one (curry) . I agree with Colin hes completely right. People don't realize how smart all the Bulls players were. Example of Rodman's intelligence: Every time he got an offensive rebound he would secure the ball like a rock, then once he was safe he would run to the three point line and hand it to MJ to create a better play. He would only look for the best player and securely get the ball to him. You can find this on many highlights. Imagine if Tristen Thompson did this on an offensive rebound instead of trying to get his put-back points, if he ran the ball to Lebron and allow LBJ to reset and create a better play, not only would you get the best out of Lebron but the entire team benefits.

    He's right. The 95-96 Bulls were a fantastic side. Jordan & Rodman are former defensive players of the year, and Pippen was a lock down defender himself. And as for offense? Puh-lease.

    Only team in pro sports were the 18-1 pats. I know no chip. But that was dominance personified.

    Some valid points, but man I've watched the warriors just dominate the NBA for 5 seasons and the best player (king James) during that time span. I give a slight edge to the warriors.

    the bulls team would absolutely smash that warrior's team. you can say whatever you want about rodman off the court but I think he would be one of the greatest teammates you could possibly have.

    “TOUGH GUYS WIN IN THIS LEAGUE”
    Pat Riley’s Knicks
    Buddy Ryan’s Eagles
    Dome Patrol Saints
    Marty Schottenheimer’s Chiefs
    Those tough teams never won a title

    Great analysis Colin. Pretty objective because you're not a Bulls fan. I totally agree with you. I've been watching the League about as well...when they had the finals on tape delay!

    86 Celtics. would wipe the floor with the 96 Bulls and the Warriors. No one could come close to them rebounding. Bird averaged 15 rebounds in 81 finals, Parish's best season avg'd 14 rebounds, Walton avg'd 6.8 rebounds in 18 minutes which equates to 14 rebounds in 36 minutes. when Walton was healthy with Portland he avg'd 14 rebounds. 3 Guys that can outrebound Rodman and I haven't even mentioned Mchale who was the leading rebounder of the 86 finals. Passing. Bird was the best passer, Walton #2 and DJ a Hall of Fame Point Guard and he's 3rd best passer. Mchale/Parish/Bird on the post was brutal. Let's not forget 1996 was one of the 3 years the 3 pt line was moved in a foot, What would Bird and Ainge have done with an easy 3 pt line. Intellingence Bird and Walton have to be 2 of the smartest players ever. The Warriors are a good team for their era, the bulls were a good team for their era, the 86 Celtics are so far superior, there is almost nothing the Bulls do better. The Celtics far better rebounding team, better passing team, team chemistry,shooting , Bird didn't care who shot the ball, there are no holes like Luc Longley. 5 HOF's and 7 players who made the all star team were able to gel. The Bulls benefitted tremendously from 6 teams expanding and diluting the talent.

    Ppg vs main defender on players bulls vs the warriors
    Mj on curry under 25pts
    Pippen on kd under 25pts
    Harper on klay under 15pts
    Those three defender will end this series in 6 games if not quicker

    It's simple, if your playing by old 90's rules the Bulls win easily. If you throw them into this era of the NBA than you could make the argument that the Warriors would win
