I freeze 'parts' of a meal. For instance, i cook a batch of ground beef, to be used in tacos, lasagna, spaghetti, etc. Likewise, Chicken pot pie filling, also breads like tortillas/ pita bread. I make my own tomato sauce. All freeze well. And frozen in batches means easy thawing. Less cooking/ cleaning, ultimately less time cooking ❣
Yes, less time cooking….that is the ultimate goal! I feel like it’s a never ending cycle, and I tend to make bad choices if I leave things to the last minute. Thank you for these suggestions!
Hi Suzanne, I agree with you about having "freezer" meals. As a 74 yr. old woman living on my own, I try to do my meal prep no more than twice a week. Maybe one dish ( a chili, a stew, taco meat, etc.)will have 4 servings, and the other 3. In all honesty, one of my driving forces in this is to cut down on kitchen clean-up!!! lol... I have started making my own taco seasoning to limit the sodium and I'm really pleased with it. I sure miss baking banana bread and heart shaped chocolate cakes. Take care.
Oh my gosh, you just made my heart melt! (About missing the baking!). I’m sure I will feel like that some day. I would never make it, if was just for me. But having kids (teens) at home….it gets eaten quickly! I live the idea of a homemade seasoning. I have made my own a few times, but it’s just so quick to throw the ready made stuff in. But it’s much healthier to do your own. So far, I’ve only done once a week. But twice would be nice. This has revolutionized things for me!!!! Take care Leslie!! ❤️
I can see why you were tired at the end of all that cooking. But what an accomplishment and to have the things ready is just a load of your mind and off your schedule. Lovely!
i am the same way! I like my bananas half green... and just as they pass that stage and get yellow i dont really care for them either.. but they are delicious like you said in banana pudding
That banana bread looks fantastic!! I'm looking forward to getting the recipe. Thank you, Suzanne. And you're right...homemade is always better. Life needs a little banana bread and chocolate cake, even if you are mid age or senior. Moderation is the key. Thanks for sharing, you impart a lot of wisdom.
Hi Deb, I try to put the recipes in the description of the video. Sorry if there isn’t in some. I currently don’t have a website or blog to post recipes, but that is a future goal! But I have lots of recipes I. The description boxes of most videos.
I am a single person and I use my freezer to assemble meals “pre cooked” to have them on the menu. For example, I make the parts of lasagne then layer them into 3 smaller glass baking dishes instead of one 9x13. I cook 1 for now, and freeze 2 for later
That’s a great idea! There are some things that I wouldn’t mind freezing. I’ve done individual pot pies before, that turned out great! Lasagna would be another good one. I’m definitely a work in progress with this make ahead situation 😅. So far it is really working out. Freezer items might be a thing I’ll try!
@@thefarmerswifecanada I figure if you can buy it frozen at the store, I should be able to do the same at home. I have shepherds pie, lasagne, pot pie, chicken and rice, and manicotti in the freezer. I will add more as I rotate through them but this gives me a single cook day for these and instead of gallon sized ziplocks of crockpot meals, I make them in quart bags, make 1, freeze 1
Breakfast meal prep is also a lifesaver. Wraps/ pitas can be made ahead, wrapped in baking paper and stored in the fridge. 30 seconds in the microwave...and breakfast is served❣ (Im NOT at my best in the morning 😂).
love love your vlogs but you pucked up the bin put linner in it and put the top on then u mooved the onion box and wiped the table with you bare hand and u had just bin messing with the kitchen bin
Thank you! ❤️ I’m not sure exactly what you are referring to (cleanliness?), but keep in mind, I edit my videos, so you might not see steps I have taken, such as washing hands, rinsing cloths, ect… I do my best as a homemaker to keep things cleanly. And I do edit a lot out 😊

Haha!!! 😅 literally, half the time I don’t even remember how old I AM!!! It’s going by way too fast 😌
I know, you always think you’re a year younger than you are haha
@@tashadrolet I know 😅
I peel my overripe bananas and freeze them. Then I always have the perfect banana for bread. Also....Happy Anniversary!
That’s such a great idea! Thanks for the tip 😄

Thanks Roberta, you’re so right about that! Moderation is key. My teenagers gobble it up. I like to enjoy a slice every now and then 😄

Hi Miss Suzanne! I love food prep. Thanks for showing. Karla in Cali.
Thank you Karla!! ❤️❤️❤️

That’s a great idea! Thanks for sharing 😀
Curious what area you live in that the chicken was $25. That is really high.
Yes, I know! It has gotten really expensive. And that is Walmart prices. I live in Salmon Arm B.C. Canada. I believe there were 7 breasts per pack.
How do I get recipes of the things you make? Deb
