  • Oh, you guys, I had such a lovely menu picked out for this week, but everything fell apart and nothing went as planned!!! This is what our large family of 9 ate in a week when Momma was hurting and then some children left the home! Some meals were nice and others were just quick and thrown together last minute. There are also low-carb/diabetic friendly meals that help keep my blood sugar in check.

I don't know why anyone would comment on Sarah making supper. What better way to learn life skills than cooking in your mama's kitchen. Sarah has more cooking, baking, and canning skills than 90% of girls her age. And the most important thing is she LOVES it!!! 💜💚💜

@@ozarkfamilyhomestead She's a little protective of her Mama as well she should be. Some people are so stupid and think that a child is abused if they're not sitting in their bedroom watching the screen on their phone. I had a lady tell me one time that she felt sorry for me, all the work I had to do at home and in the garden. Funny thing was I CHOSE to do the weeding I was doing in the garden! Lol Nobody asked me to. I simply told her I enjoyed doing the work I did, while my parents were at work themselves, and I planned to raise my kids exactly the same way! That pretty much shut her down.

I came back to add that if anyone is commenting negatively on Sarah helping around the house, perhaps they've forgotten that without those valuable life skills they will grow up to eat poorly and order out and not know how to run a household. I wish more families taught their children these valuable skills instead of just letting them play on computers all day... keep your head up! Sarah-you'll be a fabulous grown up!! oxo

If more children were raised this way we wouldn’t have so many entitled adults. I wish I had raised my kids more like this. Your family just blessed my heart and makes me wish there were more families like yours around. Many blessings. And Sarah. You go girl. Anybody can see how much joy and pleasure you get out of cooking and gardening and sewing. You amaze me. I didn’t learn to sew till I was almost 50.

I so agree. These children are learning and using all the useful "lost" skills of which most kids today have absolutely no knowledge. How sad. And although it makes their lives somewhat less "easy" ... it certainly appears that it brings them much satisfaction, joy, self-confidence, flexibility, ... I could go on and on. Just love this family.

As a mom to several adult children.......we believed in raising our kids the way my mom and dad did.....tons of care love patience compassion understanding......manner and respect....and our now adult children are blessings from God....they are so well grounded....and loving.....most important is we always tell them how much we love them over and over and over and we built a million memories.....we were never a fan of home schooling again a personal choice....growing up going to public school a million memories and friendships I just think we need children to enjoy growing up and having friendships mine are now more then 50 years plus......social skills are so important but again our beliefs.....and yes agreed there are plenty of entitled kids and that's a shame......if you invest the time and effort and realize your a mommy and daddy forever perhaps our world would be a better loving place peace

I'm from the UK and I think your channel is wonderful. I cannot get enough of it. We could all take a lesson from using leftovers, and seasonal food. Why the heck do families go to MacDonalds and Fish & Chips shops (a UK speciality fast food restaurant where fish is fried in batter and chip- fat ones!, are deep fried. I just love the way you live. It so reminds me of the way my Grandma cooked, not wasting anything, and involving everyone in the household. In today's world we need to get back to basics and stop waste. I love all the healthy meals you make! I also love that your family eats together. Having children participate with daily family life (cooking & chores) is what makes a family. I am glad to see your family does that! Too many families do not include their children in daily tasks and that is a big mistake. Life skills are just as important as all other subjects!

I think its great that Sara loves to cook and she is learning a trade that will carry her through life. It takes all kinds of people to make the world go around. Maybe those negative people should look in the mirror at themselves and find the good in them instead of the bad.

I’m glad I missed the negative comment. I enjoy your videos. I get recipe inspiration and shopping tips. And in your defense you are a spectacular mother and never forget that. My mom started teaching me how to cook at about 12 and no one died from my cooking 😮. Now I’m in my 60’s still love cooking. It’s a great skill to have.

I always wanted to help in our kitchen but my mom wouldn't let me. So after I went in the Army and got married I was scared to death of cooking. Fortunately I am a quick study and I love to cook. How great you are teaching your kids the skills they will need in life and won't be terrified of necessary life skills. Great job!

JANICE, What type of things does baby girl like? Toy wise? Dolls? Activity (drawing etc)? Mini farm animals? A pretend baby?
Asking because I’d like to send something. I’m a mom of 5 with a 6th on the way, we only have one income, so I can’t buy all of the kiddos gifts all at once, BUT over time I’d like to send you something for ea. I already know what to send the two second youngests. But I wanna start in order.

I think Sarah cooking supper is great. I can't imagine, well I can, why anybody would say anything about it. I was cooking dinner for my family alongside my mom and grandma from the time I was about 8 or 9. I like to think it made me a really good cook. At least my family sure appreciates it. You go Sarah! Keep it up!

About nasty comments: my grandmother always said that people make rude comments out of ignorance and to consider the source. Sara is a beautiful young woman and so cute with her braces. A few questions for Mom: I am prediabetic; you have made dietary changes. What is your A1C? How long since you began nutritional changes, and has your A1c dropped. Lastly, do you take medication for diabetes? I am currently on Metformin, and my doctor may be upping my dosage. I love your channel! God bless you all.

Sarah- I love that you are stepping in and being such a big help to your family! Not only cooking for them, taking care of your momma and doing some of the filming. You mentioned you had a stutter. Have you tried playing music, like classical music, when it gets really bad? To be honest, I think you have a beautiful, smooth, soft speaking voice. How old are you? I bet your siblings look up to you so much. I remember I wanted to be just like my sister who was 10yrs older than me.
Also- you guys should make a recipe book. Janice- I sent you an email. You should do a family cookbook to sell on here and put a section in there for your special diet. I would buy it!!! I would even send some recipes for you guys to try out with your garden veggies that I can no longer have anymore, if you like it then you can put those in your book too. OR have a section called Fan Favorites. Or Fans, Fellowships and Favorites mix in a cup or two of Jesus!
