  • A 10 mile walk completing the Glen Sherup Horseshoe in The Ochils taking in two Donalds. I’ve done this route several times however we were still prepared with the the route downloaded onto my GPS and all the usual wet weather kit although none of this was required.
On reaching the 1st summit the weather changed from light winds and excellent visibility to the opposite. It was blowing a bit of a hoolie.
We sheltered in a ruined structure of some sort for lunch before carrying on.
Despite the deteriorating weather it was still a great day out and boosted our hill fitness.

As always, smashing video, Linda. I did this route in horrendous conditions [deep snow] in December, 2011 and was never so glad to finish a walk.
I hope this isn't rude but the only Graham in the Ochils is Ben Cleuch as it is the only hill of 2000 feet plus which has 150 metres prominence. The 2 you did are Donalds but not Grahams as they do not have 150 metres prominence.
The whole issue of Grahams has recently become very complicated as Alan Dawson, the guy who came up with the concepts of Grahams and who listed them, has now changed the definition of Grahams. Grahams are no longer hills between 2000 feet [609.6 metres] and 2500 feet but hills between 600 metres and 2500 feet. This means there are now an extra 12 Grahams. WalkHighlands has refused to accept this definition and has stuck to hills between 2000 feet and 2500 feet but has changed the name to "Fionas". - The Grahams are named after the late Fiona Graham, who had compiled a list of hills between 2000 feet and 25000 but didn't have a rule for prominence. Its all becoming very silly and complicated but I know you have done all the Munros [very well done!] and might be now bagging the Grahams. The SMC is likely to add the 12 hills to the Graham total to bring it up to 231 hills.

I’d like to do the route in snow but maybe not too deep. I can imagine it being a very long walk in the conditions you describe. Thanks for watching Russell. 👍
