Nice seeing you upload again! Man being without power is tough, I remember when I was boarding in Manila in my youth during a week long brown out, without a fan at the least was torture.
Greetings from Altoona PA. I'm jealous of your life there Brian. We visited my wife's family this past summer in Zacarito barangay near Baybay City Leyte. It looks very similar and has the same relaxing vibe and stress-free lifestyle. Enjoy brother because the rest of us poor stiffs are stressing out in the politically divided USA.
My wife is from Cebu and I'm retired. We live in NE Texas. Asked her many times if she wants us to move to a nice area of PI. ALWAYS tells me no. Why? She has become accustomed to life in a first world country. No cooking over an open fire. Electricity is 99.999% reliable. Healthcare is extremely good. Shopping choices. Safe food. No piggeries next door. No wild dogs everywhere. List goes on and on.
Same thing here. Also, our adult children and are grandsons are here in the States. She’s been here 43 years now. No way she’s going back except to visit.
I get what you're saying but life in the U.S isn't the end all be all any longer. Especially if you're a single retiree (good luck finding anything remotely close to an attractive younger girlfriend like you can in the Philippines or Thailand.......unless you are loaded to the gills). Also, after the crap they pushed on everyone during covid, I wouldn't classify the healthcare as extremely good. More like fair and extremely expensive. But carry on......
Flippina's change when you take them to your native country. A number become workaholics, obligatory cosmetic surgery enhancements, insanely competitive with other expat flippina's and hesitate to return annually because, of the ever increasing money handout insistence from the family.
Pretty cool to watch this video. You know, I mean 8 days is a pretty long time to be off the grid these days. + You seem more at ease! You know it's kind of amazing because as much as you probably are struggling with not having the luxuries you're accustomed to, it's really clear you're making the best out of the situation and I can clearly see a spiritual aspect to it. The way you're talking about people and the community and observing the rain clouds coming in... Nifty stuff... It shows your viewers another angle of your surroundings and your experience. Thank you for this video. Great content! Great cultural aspect.
Good morning Brian...I have finally gotten relocated from Thailand to Manila. Airbnb right now until I can find permanent accommodations closer to Cavite. My adopted family is located there. I'm looking to exploring as much of the country as I can...
Nice smile, never seen one that big before from you. Altho, I coulda probably missed it. You didn't seem to smile alot in Angeles. As long as the BP [looka like] Garage up the road keep chargin ya stuff. You'll be apples! Nother goodie Brian, thanks m8, keep up the good work, stay vertical Eh!
This was my childhood. Its like going back in time. What would you bring back. Some solar panels and a little power generator for sure. We had a well so no problem with water. You would be king!😅
I am glad you are all doing ok. I heard they found the issue. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. I almost cancelled my trip there. I arrive on January 11th and will be there for at least 2 weeks. I will reach out once I am there. I would love to take you and Lot out to lunch. Take care.
I wouldn't be surprised they find that cable was cut. I saw a video the other day about how China secured a patent for a hydraulic cutter with 1200 foot pounds of cutting force. They had been caught twice in the north sea trying to cut the transatlantic cable and one other. They caught Chinese freighters in the area right above the locations for those cables. They had actually managed to damage one of them.
You're doing well Brian. I think a lot of your subs don't realise that it's not always like this on Siargao it's actually a blackout and caused by a submarine cable bringing power from the mainland was damaged and it's not a quick fix. It would be in the west as we have equipment like ROV's but it won't be a quick fix here unfortunately. Have you thought about getting a generator mate ? It would be handy or solar electric even better.
You can still get around fine, but you are starting to get up there in years and not having power for 2 weeks man that will be hard. We all hope and pray for good health but reality is very few get that.
Siargao isn’t really in a good location since there is no natural barrier in close proximity to its east that will protect it from strong typhoons and tsunami waves.
Man tough situation. I wonder if you are regretting your move to the island now or even your move to the Philippines yet or no? If you honstly can say to your self that you are happy with this life then hopefully things get better at the island soon otherwise you need to cut your losses eithereay best of luck
You need to get a deep well sunk. We have one and the pump kicks in when the water level in the tank gets low. During brown outs we have puso so never without water.
I leave every rainy season, we are north of you, we will build hopefully end of next year. What happened ? Marites was boats anchor went through the fibre ?
@retired_playa To him it's fun, he ain't going to work what were you doing in fifties going to work? I fully retired at 45 years old in 2014 guess what I haven't work a day yet in the Philippines. We'll have fun at work... Hehe😂
@@flip1sba Ok, 77th of 81 in education and US$ 4,000 per capita income so poised for future development (and families sell their daughters to foreigners)
I dunno if I could cope tbh. Daytime yeah, I would be ok but the nights are long this time of year and not having light or anything to do I think I would be on the Redhorse as soon as the sun went down. I can't stand that bright red spaghetti.
Philly, your the Man. Cool, calm, no big deal with no power. Power was out here in Angeles for couple hours last week. No AC, couldn't watch the games, I about went nutz😅😅. You be safe
Excellent Show
Glad you enjoyed it

Yeah, it's a bit of a challenge.
It must be exciting, Brian.
Province life, lots to learn. You seem very happy, and relaxed.😊
Loving the beard ~ looking good! Welcome back Brian and you are looking so relaxed and happy -good to see you on air again!
Cheers, it’s good to be back
Ice storm in Wisconsin in 1976 knocked out power for about a week, at least it's warm where you are.

Just gotta go with the flow in the Philippines, you seem to do it pretty well.
The beard is looking pretty good brother, love that little soaking pond!
Appreciate it, it's a much needed source of relief!
We missed your regular vlogs, Brian ❤️
We hope you had a very good break for a while ❤️

There's always a bright side to everything at least your power bill will be small this month
How much longer without power till you jump on a boat and get off the island?
Enjoyed the video Philly you're looking good with the beard.😊👍🏻🇬🇧
Thank you kindly
If you have children, the sad part is getting an education. Very poor schools in the province. "Sadly"
If he gets STAR 💫 LINK 🔗 his kids can take online home school classes from anywhere around the world 🌎 including college courses. 🤓.
We've grown soft here in the states. We complain if we don't have our comforts. We're not the same anymore as the pioneers who settled the country.

Break time is over. You are looking like Tom Hanks in Castaway. Is there anything about AC that you miss? Enjoy life in the province.
Happy holidays 🎄🎁🇺🇸Brian. Stay safe and healthy my friend 😊
Thanks, you too!

Hi Brian , advance Merry Christmas, I live in Cebu, the first thing I bought was a generator. Anyways Mabuhay.

There was a Chinese ship that passed by Siargao so it could be them.
Merry Christmas to you and your Family Mr. "Robinson" !!!
Merry Christmas 🎄
Goodmorning Brian, be on the lookout for a possible tropical depression hitting Siargao next week.
Thanks for the heads up!
Ive been going to the province since 2013 and i still get the stares..sometime the stinkface...not sure what thats about but ive gotten used to it.

I'm planning on building a house in the Philippines and I will have my own Electric Power
Awesome 👍
Philly I’m a long time subscriber. How long are you guys been without power now?
Power has been resolved. We went 14 days.
Glad to hear it. Hopefully that makes people realize they need to prepare.
Hey Philly, I didn’t know talk text said the word hate definitely an accident. Love your content.
I think 💭 he said a month now?
Maybees a solar plan coming up ? Solar panels and a battery to back up.
When you married Lot, you lucked out.🙂
Hey Brian, how long has the brown out been? I was wondering why you were not posting videos
December 1st.
Since December 1
