Bill, next time blow off the top of the tank around the ring with compressed air before you remove the ring. It will prevent crap from getting inside the tank. Also spray the ring with penetrating oil before you remove it, it will come out easier.
usualy when i do gas tanks on trucks i just pop the bed off lot easer, plus its nice if you got a dead fuel pump and the tank is full lol. great vids tho bill keep em coming makes my day to come home from work and find a new billstmaxx vid waiting for me to watch
You did very well for it being so rusty. It is a lousy job regardless. You might want to filter the gas from the yellow container before you put it back into your truck. I use a coffee filter in a funnel - it goes slow, but it works. Good luck Bill.
Bill, you need a siphon hose with a one way check valve in the end .... I bought one at Canadian Tire while up in Canada on a fishing trip .... it's one of the most useful tools I have ... used it today to fill the snow blower ....
Hey Bill! You should build another shed with an inspection pit for working on the underside of things. No need for laying in the mud that way. Or even build one into your existing units if permitted. Either way, love the videos and keep it up. Adam 31 from London England.
Yep,those 3 bed bolts removed, unscrew the fill hose at the inlet, lift the bed, prop it up with a block of wood is so much easier than rolling around on the ground for hours unhooking everything, plus dealing with the added weight of the fuel, and the tank..The parts houses get restocking shipments in during the night via truck that also brings any special order parts from either their main hub,or warehouse,or nearest store that has the needed part...Think elves...;)
Bill, you should invest in an evacuation pump that sits on a tank or barrel and uses your air system to suck out gas, gear oil stuff like that pretty much in any tight spot. I uses it to drain fuel tanks and also 8090 from differentials. Also works great getting the grim and oil out of your air tanks
hiya bill ,your bringing back night mares for me with the gas tank i used put them on in say about my 6 yr. working for them did job for about 2 weeks got a lot better job and rest is history ...i worked for 31 years at general motors truck plant in flint mi. and in Pontiac Michigan. when i did job frame was turned upside down after it left me a person would use a hoist and flip frame back over we also used to put card board under strap so wouldnt rub......... yeah card board on a $40,000 truck , You dont want to live in fla. either cas there you get the salt also only it's year round cas of the water
I don't know about Canada, but here in the States when you purchase a new fuel pump for GM products, the clamping ring comes with the pump along with a new gasket.
Somebody needs to wear safety glasses when working underneath the truck. So many bits and pieces flaking off and it would be pretty easy to get them in your eyes.
I'd say measure for a new rear bolt before ya put the tank back on, so ya can pick one up while your out picking up that new ring seal..save ya some time and frustration...lol :)
I would have ordered new fasteners for the gas strap at the same time that you ordered the retaining ring. I am pretty sure that they are called a panel nut. Basically they are a strip of spring metal folded over and there is a hole through one side and the other has a threaded ring on it. These things get slipped over the frame rail and when you screw the bolt in the bend of the clip provides friction so that the bolt runs itself into the threaded side.
Lol! Burping gas is always a sure sign that you were doing something fun the day before! Siphoning rocks! Ya gotta hang with sucking the gas past the halfway point Maxx! That clear line is a godsend! If I had a buck for every time I ate gas as a kid! That's how we got to ride motorcycles! Dad was cool about it though!
Wouldn't it have been easier to take the shell off the truck bed and then just take off the bed with your loader? No hassle with all the stuff underneath....
be prepared to redo some gas lines when you change your inline filter the gas line will most likely break when you try to change it it almost always does
If you are changing you fuel pump dont use the the plastic hose clips as they are junk and later your hose will come off inside tank . Use metal hose clamps.
Awful good getting that siphon hose started, my dad gave me heck one time when I was about fourteen years old for not being able to siphon gas out of his pickup for a Honda I had. He thought at that age I should know how to steal gas??
Ooow bill, ccold stuff lieing on your back mate, and ive noticed the neck does ache if its not supported as well. I would check those taped wires while they are easy to get to mate, just in case. God knows how to check a carbon filter??
Please tell me you didn't drain all the fuel out and pressure wash everything and let it sit for a few days.... U seam to do all this work by yourself why not have it all super clean when you put it all back?
I wouldn't use a vacuum on that, any remaining fumes in there could get into the motor where the brushes are and boom. we had some local guy try to siphon his tank with a shop vac and ended up with 3rd degree burns...
to get the petrol out of the tank you should of held a bundled up rag in the hole and blew some compressed air in by it... the petrol just hoots out!!!!

Good to see your using jack stands instead of the loader on the 110.

Great video bill loved how you gave the Buick a good run

Two days ago there was a little bit of a snowstorm, and -20c in Hamar, Norway today. Winter is coming closer now for sure!

I like your videos alot!! Keep going with the recording!

Not sure if playing with a combustible fuel tank with a graveyard in the background is a good idea😨😨😨

bill whats gonna happen with the garden tractor? is it gonna get scraped?
Good one Bill. Can I fly ya down here to Texas to work on my truck lol
don't be stepping on the top of those fenders cause they will snap off and you will fall on the ground. I figured that out on mine.
it's a lot easier to just unbolt the bed , and pick it up with a front end loader bill lol
Wouldn't it have been easier to take the shell off the truck bed and then just take off the bed with your loader? No hassle with all the stuff underneath....
Siphoning petrol and getting a mouth full is great isn't it ! I love the way you can burp the following day and still taste it!

Look like you had more problums getting the tank down then I did pulling the box off !! Nice vid thou!!!

It is easier to pop the bed loose, raise it up and change the pump that way.
i think its way easier to pull the bed off to change the fule pumps on trucks but thats me
Good job on the tank bill
bill could you drive either the van or the jeep if you did not have the part for tommorrow?
True
Both are not ready for the road. And not registered for driving on public roads either.
Need to use the the leaf blower to dry it off!
Ooow bill, ccold stuff lieing on your back mate, and ive noticed the neck does ache if its not supported as well.

God knows how to check a carbon filter??
120mph? Or kph btw what does it have under the hood v6? How many liters and what are the specs hp and torque
It is a v6, i dont remember the specs, but it is in a previous video where he put a k&n airfilter in it.
Should be able pick up new nuts at parts place for straps. Why you never put truck in shop?
to much junk inside lol
you should buy an after market aluminum gas tank and put it in the box
Please tell me you didn't drain all the fuel out and pressure wash everything and let it sit for a few days.... U seam to do all this work by yourself why not have it all super clean when you put it all back?
I noticed u have a tractor by that gas tank in the background. Can you show us that?
pulling tank on this truck in the hoist it really some what hard, because of the tank size.. but there one easy way, by lifting the bed on the side
really not bright fellow,& ur locking ring looks just fine
wtf kind of videos you got on your channel? and why comment about working on trucks if your a creepy dude that posts fetish videos
not much use in using impact sockets if you just use a standard chrome extension...just saying
I wouldn't use a vacuum on that, any remaining fumes in there could get into the motor where the brushes are and boom.
we had some local guy try to siphon his tank with a shop vac and ended up with 3rd degree burns...
EASIEST way to work on the tank.LIFT THE BOX!!!
Why did you even have to take this off Bill?
Super unseasonably warm eh? -28 c with a -40 c windchill in Saskatchewan tonight........
That pump is looking new copair to mine ! mine was yellow when I pull it .
to get the petrol out of the tank you should of held a bundled up rag in the hole and blew some compressed air in by it... the petrol just hoots out!!!!
Every time I drive my wife's car, I find something that is not working right or that needs to be done to it.
Before long, the new fuel pump is going to need a new truck.
At least its a plastic tank, I changed a 120liter tank on my old 1500wt and it was a bitch and half.
i always get yelled at when i play with petrol
Bill, where's yesterday's video? I hope you didn't hurt yourself while playing with gas, and it's just youtube being stubborn again!
lucky -32°c here right now with wind
ouch
Brrr,a frigid 68f here today,cloudy n breezy....
FJ80Coop that's summer temp. -27°f yesterday this morning -30°f but warmed up to -4 today
What model Buick is that??
allure
2005
That car is very fast!!!! My favorite car from Buick!!!
really should have used some plywood between tank & jack to spread weight out.
Where are your safety glasses young man????
28:30 looks like a seal "yes the animal" on the part of ur gas tank... Odd lol
Yes, it does. I can clearly see the head of a Seal in the part of the tank to the left of the filler neck spout. Kind of neat to see.
Where u from lol I noticed ur accent
Bill try a mirror to see inside !!
Stupid hose! (Tank falls and drops rust on Bill) I guess it didn't like being called stupid.
i had the same problem with my rear strap bolt i drilled the head and then stuck a bar in and ans then snapped the head off
look like fun lol
Winnipeg is -43 with wind
Bill just thinking that u use so many money on repair that its smarter to by a new car
120 MPH. nice
You should buy a new tank
nice looking trailer to bad its just little axle on it
Yey buddy
not just salt ,shit metal too....... China
Waste of time your going to have to do the same thing in a couple of months maybe even less. Ac delco or delphi only for gm.
kroil is so much better than pb
ya thats the most dirty s job changing the gas tanks
you should of just took the bed off it would of been easier
Hi
