  • Hey friends! This is a 2 week update for my weights for the last couple weeks, as well as how things have been going and the plan moving forward. I am talking about how I want to maintain my focus on what I’m putting in, instead of the outputs (the scale). Also I wanted to share my weight fluctuations for the past two weeks to illustrate the ups and downs that come with this journey. I really appreciate your support and all of your kind comments! Have a great week, see you in my next video .🙌🏼

    Lexi looking at Patricia Wei's post and the 500 cal meals etc. Is interesting. I've been finding that even tho I KNOW I'm making progress with my ADF schedule I'm having some extreme tiredness later in my fasting day. And I'm feeling grumpy to go with it. So I've taking to having a cup of broth with turmeric added and that seems to help. Also today is a fasting day and I was out doing errands and I had a SB passion iced tea with some cream and Stevia. I was feeling desperate and thought that better than just eating. Anyway- thanks for listening!❤❤❤

      Yes, sometimes you just need something as a crutch in the beginning. If you have anything with calories or flavor on your fasting days, try to keep it to one small period of time to allow for the smallest possible interference with your fast. But you’re right, it’s better than eating, and you’re doing fantastic !

    Hi Lexi! It's Susan. Thanks for answering my question in your video today! No worries about not being able to. These things happen. I really appreciate the reminder that our weight will go up and down with no rhyme or reason at times. When I started ADF the first part of Jan I just determined that I was going to wait a while before getting caught up in the scale and what it says. So maybe the first part of Feb I'll weigh. I know I've lost some inches so far and probably a couple pounds too. Thanks for your videos!🌿🌷🌿❤

      Oh good I’m so glad you saw it! And I think that can be wise to hold off on the scale and focus on non scale victories. Take pictures from different angles-that is a great way to measure progress!

      Susan!! Your comment on my newest video disappeared too! 😭😭😭 I don’t know why they keeps happening! But I did see that you wanted to give me a big hug so thank you for that! That’s the only part of your comment I could read, because it disappears when I click on it. So if you want to leave it again, that would be great, I hope you’re doing well!

    I think that where you are at, doing monthly weight updates is 👌🏻 so I’ll look forward to those but that gives u time to create AMAZING content which i honestly love bc ive learned so much from ur info and research 🙏🏻 so quick question when u said u will do 5:2 but modified... do u mean u will do = Monday eat, Tuesday fast, Wednesday OMAD, Thursday fast, fri-sat-sun eat. Just curious for future maintenance bc i kinda like that a lot! And if so I’m interested to see how it works for you.

    • @MomFasting
      @MomFasting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Good to see you and thanks! So what I meant was, if I ever experiment with 5:2 again, instead of having 5 full eating days, one would be OMAD. So like full fast Monday, OMAD Wednesday, full fast Friday. Then the rest longer window eating days. But I’m a ways off from throwing that in. Just thoughts for future maintenance experiments. 😁

    Hi Lexi! Your videos always come out like clock work! I love it! I think it’s a really good idea to consolidate your weight updates, it helps to step back and see the whole month’s progress, to allow any pattern the time to emerge and make better sense of what’s going on. It was interesting seeing your daily weight fluctuations, my numbers are usually up and down by 0.6-1.6lbs. Even at the start of ADF, it stayed below 2lbs. I’m barely 5 ft with start weight 143lbs and current weight 127lbs just to give you some reference points. You’ve mentioned before that you do exercise regularly, what do you do? I’ve been thinking I might need to start adding some exercise that would make me break a sweat apart from the leisure walking I’ve been doing. Since we’ve spoke last week, I ended up doing an unplanned 4:3 last week and can definitely say I’m back on 4:3 since. I’ve finally found the solution I’ve been looking for all this while - modified ADF, that 500kcal for some reason prevents my body from becoming too depleted of something. I’m not sure what it is, but if I do a zero calorie Monday, subsequent fasts for the week become too much for my body with just one UD in between. So this week I’ve done 500kcal for Monday and Wednesday and both days were truly effortless and enjoyable, it’s the first time I felt this way with ADF. I think somehow the daily window I’ve been doing in the past month has made me able to stop at 500kcal on DD now. I’m so glad that I took the whole month doing a daily window, it has really allowed me to compare it with ADF in depth and I’ve come to the conclusion ADF 4:3 is still better suited for me now that it’s finally easy. I look forward to all the interesting topics you have lined up to us! 😘

      Thanks Patricia! Yea, I’m glad you have settled on a plan you love! What have you been liking for your 500 calorie meals? And also, do you feel satisfied right after or does it spike your hunger for bit! So interesting the difference in your fluctuations vs. mine. I wonder why that is...I would definitely prefer less fluctuations! 🤪The big drops are nice, but the big gains not so much! And yes, I do exercise, and I was going to do a video about that soon, but I’m no expert by ANY means! I do a VERY short HIIT routine (like 5 minutes!) MWF on the morning of my fast days. Then TTH I do some weights. I have come to really enjoy strength training (and I use light weights-by no means am I into bodybuilding!). But it is something that I actually enjoy and have been able to keep up with consistently for 2 years! Which has never been the case in my life. I think the key is to find something you enjoy. 😊

      @@MomFasting I found that if I have the 500kcal too early at 2.30pm, I’m hungry again later which isn’t nice. So now, I’ll have a decaf coffee at 2.30pm to carry me through that hump, then have a store bought fresh soup at 5-6pm. I’ve felt pretty satisfied after because I’ll also drink sparkling water in the evening, after 9pm it’s smooth sailing for me till the next day. But I think eventually I’ll need to explore more 500kcal meals to add variety. More importantly, I think I’ve had a bit of a mindset shift, the 500kcal is not meant to satisfy my hunger, it’s more for eliminating the other side effects I was having with fasting. This morning I actually went out for a walk at 38hrs fasted, I have never been able to do that before, all because of that 500kcal meal I now have the energy I want while fasting. I also love strength training, but usually at the gym which we can’t do now, so important as we age. HIIT sounds like a good option on DD, short with maximum impact! 😄

      Nice, soup sounds great, especially in the winter! And thats awesome that you’ve had energy for walks. I really think walks are one of the best forms of exercise, just getting out in nature and getting the heart pumping. I do all my strength training at home, I just slowly built my collection of dumbbells. 😊

    Just started alternate day fasting one week ago and I’m down a total of 4.6 lbs.
    Just wanted to clarify...do you eat nothing on your fast days? Or do you consume 500 calories? Also for your eat days, what range of calories do you stick to? Right now I’m going 500 calories on my fast days and about 1900 calories on my eat days which averages to a calorie deficit of 1200. And I’m just merely alternating. No 4:3 or 5:2. Thanks for sharing your journey!

    • @MomFasting
      @MomFasting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! I don’t do the 500 calories, because I’ve tried it and don’t enjoy it, it’s just easier to stay at zero for my brain. But if it’s working for you that’s awesome!! I also don’t count calories on my eat days, because it would drive me crazy. 🤪Also it’s been proven to be an ineffective approach to weight loss, Jason fung has videos on this. 😊

    • @MomFasting
      @MomFasting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, once I did count my calories and I was at 2700...if I had to guess, I am probably between 2500-3000 on any given day, and more on Saturdays! Then of course, zero on fast days. I just eat till I’m satisfied, and it works for me. 😁

      Sure. It wasn’t that important, but I’ll re-post it below:
      Thank you for this video! You can put me on the list as one of the people really struggling, and my struggle has been going on a few months. I’m also up about 10lbs from where I was when I started struggling with ADF (but still down more than 20 from before I started ADF in the first place). I keep saying I’ll get back on track, and then failing at that, but I’m determined this time. Since I’m a numbers person, I purchased a smart scale and smart measuring tape (who knew?!) to give me a few numbers to focus on that aren’t my weight. Oh, and today’s a fast day, so I’m flippin’ freezing! :)

    • @MomFasting
      @MomFasting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you!! I dont know why they are disappearing on my end! I just don’t want people to feel like I’m ignoring them! Sounds like we’re about in the same boat, weight wise, up 10 lbs but still down 25 here. It’s quite the ride. We will get back there. 🙌🏼 Are you liking your smart scale? I haven’t bought one, still using a regular scale. Thanks again for re-posting your comment!

    • @jenellewilson3218
      @jenellewilson3218 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MomFasting I really like the scale. It’s a Renpho I ordered on Amazon (as is the measuring tape; they use the same app). With my old scale, it seemed like I never had time to write down the other measurements it gave (body fat, etc), because it cycled through the numbers too quickly. This way, you just open the app, step on the scale, and it collects everything for you.

      @MomFasting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there!! If you’re 14 and 92 lbs, it sounds like you’re already a healthy weight. 💕 What’s your height? It’s not generally recommended that kids fast, though it’s awesome that you’re learning about it, as it will be a healthy lifestyle as an adult!! I think at your age, the best thing to do is to focus on making healthy choices, avoiding overly processed snacks, and late night snacking. Also, focusing on positive body image, and not comparing yourself to models on magazine covers and Instagram posts-that’s not realistic. I hope that helps, let me know if you have more questions. 😊

      Also, I will say that some teenagers naturally eat in a smaller eating window, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Just don’t force it, don’t count calories, and make sure you are eating enough.
