Radiation therapy (or radiation oncology) is the medical use of ionizing radiation to treat cancer and control malignant cell growth. Radiation therapy is commonly combined with other modes of treatment for cancer, such as surgery, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy. Radiation therapists should be able to think critically, work with computers, and be able to work on a treatment team. Patient care and empathy are also important assets.
The Radiation Therapist works under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist in treating malignant and benign diseases using various ionizing radiations. Responsibilities include following prescribed treatment plans, maintaining accurate records, and providing care and support to the patients and their families.
The profession requires judgment, critical thinking, and the ability to work accurately and quickly in a stressful environment. Therapists are highly skilled professionals, who are certified at national and state levels to provide patient treatments under the supervision of a physician specializing in Radiation Oncology.

I’m trying to figure out if I should go into nursing or radiation therapy
Me too.have you decided?and suggest me.I'm so confused rn
Wait me too😭 I think I’m leaning more towards RT because I can’t deal with all the stress nurses go through ( not saying RT isn’t stressful) but the environment seems a bit more chill.
Me too . I’m so confused
Nursing school is hell
@@Hannah01771 HAHA me to!
Im deciding 35% on Pharmacy Tech in California $46,374 - $63k
Radiation Tech 62k - 95k - 128k (my friends who are radiation tech say it is easy 6 months of clinicals or more, physics is just one of the hard classes)
Biomed Tech in California - 118k (i've worked with many, their job is so easy LOL hands on technology) a lot of my friends are biomed techs and recommend it
OR physical therapist assist/kinesiology
Are you accepting international students for this radiotherapy program
So do you have to go to Radiographic Technologist school before you can go on to the others like Radiation Therapy or CT/MRI? Or are these all separate 2-4 year schools? No one mentions this part.
For answers to your questions I encourage you to contact the program director for Radiation Therapy, Carol Davis. cadavis@ahs.llumc.edu
@@LLUHealth bruh
Yes, you start with RT school and the rest are built upon that through OJT. The only exception is sonography which is a completely separate program.
nice yeezys at 1:02 lol
Lol I seen IT to
Bruh 😂😂 me trying to get info on these and getting distracted by that too
What are the job prospects/longevity of radiation therapists as of 2020? 2024?
It is demand actually its growing 13%
mari torres still hard asf to find a job. Every area has very few openings for this career.
ThomsT Depends on where you live honestly. Luckily the pay is pretty phenomenal compared to many careers and are pretty standard across the board so you can always relocate to a new area. Here in Las Vegas we are 50th in healthcare and have a huge lack of medical personnel .
David Cantor interested in getting into this career and I live in Las Vegas. I pray schooling goes back to normal soon :(
What’s the average cost of a semester
in Europe (Netherlands) is 2000 euro per semester for international programme
What is the difference between radiography and radiation therapy
One is diagnostic the other one is therapeutic.
@@mariahnakanyala8862 thank you 💟
Nothing on mammography, huh?
Hello, I have completed my Bachelor's degree in Radiation therapy program and still finding for a job. If there is any job opportunity please let me know. I'll be happy to work with you. Thanks 😊
What type of laptops were commonly used. Would you recommend mac or windows based? My daughter will be studying Radiation therapy in the fall. She finished her Associate's while in high school this year, so it's mainly her upper classes and clinicals that she will need. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
@@robertrangel09 I would go with Mac
@@nazstorytime2753 I disagree
