My husband was diagnosed with IV metastatic Melanoma June 2017. He had 5 brain tumors and a host tumor in his lung. He had stereotactic radiation gamma knife and Immune Therapy and 9 trips to the ER with side effects. He is alive today and has been in remission for 1 year with NED. And it’s because of the Nobel Peace prize winners and the sacrifices they made. My husband is back at work as a Medical Illustrator he’s so thrilled and I’m so grateful , relieved and humbled by the research and study strategy of these genius Doctors and scientists. Србомбоница He had several side effects and so I took him to the ER 9 times in one year. Such a deadly disease that treatment is deadly. He was a clean living person never drinking or smoking and so he stared out very strong. The doctors took energy from his muscle mass. He lost 55 pounds and had high liver enzymes but they stopped treatment, let his liver recover for 5 month’s-the Melanoma tried to come back but they hit it again with 5 more treatments. He is still clear as of MRI last week. Back to almost normal work , travel etc . So grateful for Immune Therapy treatment- wave of the future the Nobel Peace prize winners! 🏆🏆🏆

I’m on immunotherapy but did have a reaction after one year I’m back on immunotherapy I’m hoping no more reactions as I do very well in shrinking back the cancer cells in my lungs. Thank you for this information .

Cancer today has a higher survival rate than 50 years ago. Thank god for advancement in medicine! My cousin died the other day in Mexico from Terminal colon cancer. His cancer was caught too late. His job hired 2 doctors from Houston to treat him, but the cancer was too advanced. Rest his soul.

I'm on immunotherapy right now for lymphoma. It's been a year and the cancer has been greatly reduced. The main symptom is I have a numbness/tingling in my fingers that gets annoying. I can still type, lift weights, do most activities though.

Significant development but a long way to go. Certain cancers, like pancreatic, have not only shown to be nonresponsive to immunotherapy but also detrimental to the patient. Though certain blood borne cancers and lung cancer have proven very receptive to immunotherapy it remains to be seen if it's effective on a multitude of cancers.
I read that the liver eats t cells therefore its hard use t cells near that area.
Here we are stimulating the T cell army , which lead to inflammation, kill Cancer cells . But this process should be controlled , because over activation of Tells lead to Auto immunity. So the Complications are Diabetes, Thyroid disease, Arthritis , Arrythmias of heart and so on. The class is fantastic.

So true. In fact we all get cancer all the time but at very low levels. I read somewhere about several levels of immune response to it and that we get notable cancer after one of them is breached. We should look at cancer differently as when you think about it, why is it that cancer tries so hard to fight against its own body defences? Recruiting T cells to help it fight back against ‘itself’. Odd but fascinating

My father after diagnosed with melanoma of advanced stage started immunotherapy and on the 4th day after the first application passed away. Before applying it, please take in consideration that there are many cases that show that this treatment can be life threatening because of its side effects. The immune system while rebooted can attach other organs and cause death.

In my fathers's case just after the first treatment he started to have problems with the lungs, had difficulties breathing, until he had lung attack that caused his death.
dorina 21 True, describing T-Regs as “traitor T-Cells” is disrepectful of their role in normal immune regulation. This is not a risk free therapy, it does have a favourable side effect profile to most chemo given the response many get

I felt it works similar to chemotherapy. In chemo, they primarily use chemicals to kill cancerous cells; but in reality, these chemicals attack both cancerous and non-cancerous cells. This unexpected attack on healthy cells causes side effects like hair loss and etc. Similarly, in immunotherapy, when the T cells attack non-cancerous cells, this treatment will terribly go wrong, causing side effects. 🤷🏻♀️. Maybe I was wrong.
