"If you enjoy what I'm doing, leave a comment" - Susanna, I ALWAYS enjoy your videos! You have a child like enthusiasm for riding and adventuring that brings joy to my heart and makes me smile. Your PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) towards any adversity gives me optimism for the rest of the world (sorry, that's a big responsibility), well, it cheers me up, anyway. The fact that you find little indulgences to make the camping more comfortable is wonderful. One notable feature of this excursion is that, in the words of Dorothy of OZ, I think, you don't have look for adventure any further than your own backyard. Great if you can travel hither and yon, but if you can do even a short bit, DO IT! Thanks for all your videos!
Crammed full of handy hints and tips! Thank you for sharing this Susanna, it will be helpful to old hands and those just setting out on the cycle touring path. Also, for all of us nosey ones it’s always fascinating to see what others have in their luggage! 🤣
No reply necessary. But thank you again for sharing. Always a pleasure seeing beautiful countryside and good to hear about the gear you use, both interesting and informative. Good to know your chemo has finished, I wish you well. Take care and thank you again.
Excellent as ever. One thing I do is if I boil any water for cooking, not drinking as you did for the potatoes. I drain the hot water into a container put a cover on it then use it for cleaning pans, plates, cutlery etc usually when I've finished eating. Why waste it by just draining away and greasy things are hard to clean without it.
What a great camping spot and very interesting insight into your ‘stuff’. Reminds me of when I did wild camping in Sweden when I was 16, over 40 years ago. On my first day I bought a Trangia and still have it to this day. We used open canoes to tour around lakes and rivers for a week. Lovely country 😊
As always, Susanna, brilliantly informative without being one of those very serious-minded ’lectures’ on wild camping that are all over the internet. Perfect!
Wonderful to see you again. I love the way you look after your gear, some of which you’ve had for years, amazing. What a lovely spot you found too. Loved the video.
Susanna you are such an inspiration. I’ve just got back from a bike tour in South Korea and watching your video made me want to pack my bike and head on out again.

It is so nice to see you back !!🥰Your videos are always brilliant. I am looking forward to seeing your new and very inspiring adventures. Greetings from Spain 😊
Lovely video. I used to cycle camping years ago and watching this takes me back. One day I managed to tip a whole tin mug of just made, very hot, tea over my foot first thing in the morning bringing up a huge blister that made cycling very painful and that sort of put me off. Seeing you go through all your equipment reminded me of one of my proudest possessions for camping, a large piece of hessian sacking I found on the road side which made a perfect carpet for the porch of my tent. I used to be organised like you when pitching the tent so that everything was always in the same place so I knew where to find stuff. Thank you so much for sharing I really enjoyed the film. Good luck in your future adventures.
I’m very late coming to the party, and only just found your channel. I just want to say what an amazing inspiration you are. Thanks to you I’ve decided to try my first bike packing trip this year. I also want to say thank you for showing us southerners are not all unfriendly snobs, and we do like a chat too! Keep happy.
Hi Steven, yeh there do seem to be lots of nice chatty southerners around haha! more than I expected! hope you enjoy cycling and camping, take it easy and happy cycling!
Great video Susanna. You are an inspiration. It would be interesting to understand a bit more about how you navigate on multi-day trips. How much you use paper maps or phone based apps etc. Thanks again,
Greetings from Singapore! LOVE this, thanks for being such an inspiration to us all, and for showing us how achieveable it is to appreciate the most beautiful things in life, while traveling light! God bless you! Thank you again!
Hello Susanna, I’m going out in 3 weeks for the summer from London, though not on a Brompton. Combo this year; bikepacking with hiking, on an e-assist bike, expecting more trail than tarmac. Needs a catchy concept name :) I love your solution for the front bag. You’re obv. aware of the need for weight distribution so I understand how chuffed you are. Kudos to hubby! It’s great how awareness has made everyone innovative. This year, I’m replacing an Ortlieb with an Osprey 33 rucksack (in a waterproof sack, which keeps straps tidy on the rack and dry). Tucks right under the saddle and extends back on a pannier rack. Bought fab Rok straps to help. I don’t think you have a head net, I think I will this time - for Scottish midges. It’s very impressive how you plan, dialogue and edit your videos. Love all the angles and the personal bits. Well done and happy travels. Andy
This nitty-gritty insight is great, reminds me of an infinitely better designed & executed version of how I used to carry my surveying gear on an old Raleigh. Brilliant as always.
Wow, just incredible how much kit you squeeze on to the bike, and how carefully everything is thought out. This is like a training video for the special forces! Really tempting to try it out.
So happy to find your latest video today, Susanna. Thank you. I’m off to buy some strawberries this weekend so I can make my own portable larder! Brilliant idea.
Once again, Susanna I’m amazed by how much “stuff” you get on your Brompton. Not only do you manage to make coffee and pancakes for breakfast but you have an actual chair to sit on whilst you eat them. Puts my rather feral bike packing diet to shame…😄
What a pleasure to go on this adventure with you, Susanna! Thank you! I am a bit of a wild camping nut and Hilleberg fan (I have an Unna) and have been a subscriber to your channel for a couple of years. The last year, for various reasons, I have not been camping much, however. Also (and independent from my wild camping interests), I am a cycling nut (generally, but esp. mountain biking), and recently bought my first Brompton (which I absolutely love). A couple of my wild camping friends are going bikepacking in Anglesey in June and I'm now considering whether to join them on my Brompton (they will be on road/mountain bikes). Watching your videos is an inspiration - not just to see the logistics involved, but also to see your adventurous spirit and interesting personality. For me, a significant part of the adventure when I go on a wild camping trip or a (non-camping) bike tour is in the planning itself. Solving puzzles. Folding and packing things cleverly into compact spaces. Being inconspicuous and full of hidden surprises (i.e. the rucksack I'm carrying or the bag that's got a secret bike in it). I like that I can go on fairly niche, eccentric adventures, away from what most people tend to do. My inaugural Brompton adventure was to take it with me to a conference in Vienna, as my regular checked baggage, then to commute to the conference venue and do some leisure cycling while over there. I'm just wondering whether I would be able to keep up with my friends on their tour of Anglesey. I have a two-speed C-line, which I've converted to a four-speed by putting a double-ring chainset on. I don't have a front derailleur, but can use my heel to change onto the small ring for steep hills. However, changing back to the big ring requires me to get off the bike and use my hands, so it could slow us down a bit. It's clear that I am talking myself into trying it though. Having watched your video, I feel inspired to join the dots between my two hobbies. Also, now that you've shown us all the helpful cycling gadgets that your husband has made, I can cite these and ask my wife to make me some too. She's expert with a sewing machine and has been making her own clothes for years, so I might ask for some fancy pants as a starter 😁. Thanks again and I wish you many more adventures!
Thanks for writing Chris! sounded like a cool thing to do, a bit of cycling on the side of a work trip to Vienna. I like the idea of you bag that's got a secret bike in it! Hope you enjoy the Anglesey trip, whichever bike you choose!
Always enjoy your videos. I saw this one pop up as I was going away for the weekend and could not believe I'd have to wait 2 days before I could watch it!! As ever you bring great pleasure and enjoyment by documenting your adventures. You have a brilliant set-up enhanced by your lovely husband and it is obvious why you love your little hotel room so much! The views across the lake - waking up to that!! Wow! Thank you for all the work that goes into recording and editing so that we can share the experience. Love it....... hoping too that you are now well and remaining so x
So many useful tips here that I've not seen anywhere else. Because of you wearing the decathlon jacket, I bought one too. I love it! As you said it's so cosy to wear after exercising and weighs so little. Thank you for making this video. Happy cycling.
I just watch your two videos of biking through Skåne, Blekinge and Småland to your cottage. Great videos and I just can’t wait to go out on the road again myself. I was just thinking about your Hilleberg tent. If you are scared of being seen if someone use a torch, perhaps change the guy lines to the tent (if you haven’t already done that) because they might be reflective. Just one thought. Great work and nice filming.
Hi Gert-Åke! aw thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the films! sounds like you have got a Hilleberg too. Ah I hadnt thought of changing the guylines actually... I realised though that the four corners of my Akto have got small reflective patches on, and there's a bigger reflective strip on the flap over the door too. If I am camping wild and think there might be people around I sort of twist the door one in, to make it less visible... I have thought about taping the four corners, but I havent... They are actually a great idea and useful sometimes! I have often been grateful for them actually when walking back to my tent in the dark looking for my dark tiny tent in a big dark field on a gloomy night! Anyway thank you for thank you for watching! and for writing!
It feels like welcoming back dear, old friends when I take my camping gear out and set it up. Even if I'm on a multi-day trip and it was just that morning that I'd packed them away! I just got back from hiking the West Highland Way and I swear the thing I enjoyed most was the wild camping. I stayed in 7 epic "hotel rooms" with my tent and then one actual smelly hostel in Ft William LOL
Hi Robin, I feel exactly the same, such a nice feeling as I ride along, to know I have that tent and all I need with me, shelter, food... and then getting somewhere and shaking my tent out of its bag and getting set up is so nice. I just did week-long ride all camping except for one night a guesthouse and OK it was nice to have a hot proper shower there (and charge my devices and battery pack which was the main point) but I was sooo glad the next night to get back to my familiar comfy cosy tent ...
I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for this little " behind the scenes" look at your camping setup. Wishing you many more camping adventures: which will hopefully mean many more of your lovely videos!
Hi Susanna, thank you for sharing your setup. There are so many choices nowadays that it can be daunting finding what works. I have just bought a Hilleberg Enan and looking forward to many adventures. Take care.
oh sounds brilliant. I think the Enan door is mesh all the way to the bottom isnt it, so you can lie in your sleeping bag and look out... which sounds v nice to me
What a lovely video. It's a beautiful place where you were camping so peaceful. Sometimes the best places are on our step and we are inclined to take them for granted. Good to hear you are finished chemo . I hope you have a full recovery.
aw thank you Sandra, yeh you are right, lovely places just on our doorstep, and it also really great to do a very short trip, this whole trip was less than 24 H, leaving the house in the afternoon one day, and back home again next day for lunch
I recently bought Tannus airless tyres for my Brompton as I'm going on a bit of a tour this summer. I quite like them, they are like riding normal tyres without worrying about a puncture. I retired to the Norfolk Broads and now I don't have to go far for little wild camping jaunts. I have one of those pack rafts which are super light and small and I can get my Brompton on it with all my gear. It allows me to find places where I'm not going to get disturbed. I'm on a rolling fast at the moment and your cooking has tempted me. I fast for 36 hours and then have a 12 hour window for eating normally. It has been really successful and I am currently extending it to a rolling 48 hour fast. Great video. All the best.
Perfect timing, a new video from you and one from Miriam close together. They always bring an uplift in my mood. You seem to have the system of packing everything very nicely sorted out. As it seems like you've cycled/ camped for some time have you changed what you do or don't take with you? I've heard tales of cyclists on long tours taking far too much and travelling lighter the next time. Thank you for sharing what you take and some tips.
Hi Colin! omg yeh I have been out on cycling adventures with friends and on my own since I was about 14, as soon as I was kind of allowed, or a bit before haha. So yes I have changed things! First overseas trip was with a schoolfriend to Ireland and we rode the exact road that Miriam was on funnily enough, over Gap of Dunloe... was so lovely to see it in her film actually. We were 16 or something, super excited, froze to death and didnt sleep at all on the night ferry from Liverpool, had basically just our normal bikes we used for getting around town as everyone did, steel bikes with shaky rear racks, and we had some kind of basic two man tent and the sort of sleeping bags that you are supposed to use in caravans... And my stove! the same one haha
I wish one day … l’ll be a person like you. Susanna, you are wonderful. This summer, I’ll go camping by myself (nobody with me for first time) and I’ll be with my brommie and (maybe) a little trailer (Burley). I’ll bring you in my thoughts. 🧡
Oh that sounds fab Monique, hope you love it, heading off by yourself. I like riding and camping with friends, but I also love going off on my own. Actually I only started doing it because once I was supposed to be going on a cycling holiday with an old schoolfriend who'd done loads of trips with me, but then she had children and her toddler got ill just before we were going away and she couldnt come, and I thought oh. Then I thought oh well, I'll go on my own and I thought I would not like it and Id feel lonely, and that people would think I was odd - used to care about that but dont now haha - and sometimes on the way I did feel lonely and people prob did think I was odd haha but actually although I missed some things a lot - eg laughing with my friend, I did really miss all the laughing - but I found when I was alone that there other things to enjoy. Different. I think cycling and camping alone is a very different experience. Both good. Definitely worth trying if you have never done it.. anyway, thanks for watching!
Thank you for this video. This goes into more indeph into what you use. Hope you have health. I know what your going through but a different way. Glad for your videos!
Thanks for this video, very informative. Hint for Trangia simmer ring: use the kettle holder as tweezers to grap the brown, extending part of simmer ring. Then you can place simmer ring slowly and don't need to throw it on burner. Regards: Pekka, Cycling Finn
Fascinating, Susanna. I agree with your comments about personal hygiene. When I was backpacking, I always carried a small, lightweight folding bowl and will, again, if I get away on the trail this year,. A cupful of warm water is sufficient to get a good, all-over wash and freshen one up after a day on the trail. I also carried a flask - it was great to have a hot drink without having to get out the stove during a break.
Aw, great little video Susanna, thanks for sharing. Just started watching your videos on your last journey and since then I've been so Brompton curious. I love how streamline your kit is. I'm a cycle tourer also and lord knows my kit just seems to be getting heavier. You have inspired me to take a good look at my kit and be ruthless with what to carry. I did get a couple of good little tips from you, in particular how you deal with the washing-up. Thanks again😊
Love your videos, your joy de vi is infectious, your bike packing gear and choices are helpful for anyone considering something similar. Hope you are well, God bless 👍
oh that sounds great! hope you enjoy all the preps these next few weeks, love putting a little pile of gear togehter, and so nice looking at maps and imagining what it will be like, nice nice nice
This is so funny because I was literally going to type on one of your videos that I would love to see more information on your much loved and longtime used Trangia! I’ve watched your other gear video and I’m so glad you made a new one. I really enjoyed them.
Another fantastic video. Thank you Susanna. I’ve always wondered how you carry all your gear. It always seems like you have the tardis version Ortleibs. Your husbands DIY skills are very impressive. Does he cycle too?
Great video. Love how you have the necessities of camping down to a fine art. Thank you for sharing your methods, tricks and experience with others. You give me inspiration to actually go wild camping by bike in Australia sooner rather than later. Thank you.
Thank you Susanna. Every time I watch one of your videos you give some good advice or useful tips! At the moment I am packing for a bicycle trip (in a few days). When you showed your food in the dry bag I immediately took my spare dry bag to put all food stuff in it! Some time ago you told about your dehydrated meals, so now I take some dehydrated vegetables and sauce with me too. That 'pot cosy' looks interesting, I might make one too ...
Hi Inge Leonora! oh that is exciting that you are packing for a trip... sunny here today, hope you get good weather. The pot cosy is really handy actually. Pleased with it. I got the idea from a US woman's trail walking site Homemade Wanderlust th-cam.com/video/pYW6pcUi8zE/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUXaG9tZW1hZGUgd2FuZGVybHVzdCBwb3Q%3D
Hi Susanna,a great insight into bike camping,I ride a Brompton with friends & just lately I started to think is the Brompton harder work to ride than my road/gravel bike, what’s your opinion, maybe the answer is not to press on to hard with the Brompton, atb Colin P.👍

Lovely well thought out video. With the classic phase when you set the tent up. It’s like having your own hotel only cheaper.
Very interesting thank you.
Take care, hope your well
Excellent tips for camping...... another brilliant video....
'Ull' east yorkshire.
What a wonderfully informative and useful video. I love that you do all this on a Brompton, too. I enjoy your videos so much 😁
Aw thanks for writing Anna, and for watching!
I genuinely thought you were pulling the kitchen sink out when you pulled that large last bag out 😂!
Good overview though, thank you 😊
Always enjoy your videos.
Hi Penny! aw thank you for the lovely comment! hope you had a nice weekend and glad you enjoyed the film!
Brilliant. Thanks you for all this tiny details, and for vibe, and pancakes is 👌🏻. And wish you good weather on your future adventures.
So many useful tips here that I've not seen anywhere else. Because of you wearing the decathlon jacket, I bought one too. I love it! As you said it's so cosy to wear after exercising and weighs so little. Thank you for making this video. Happy cycling.
oh that's good, thanks for writing Caroline! hope you have lots of nice moments in nice places all cosy in your jacket! 😎🚲☕
Thanks Susanna! Have a great summer.
Thanks Cloud Base! same to you!
Very good, you really do look after your gear.
Be careful of them ticks, you can get Lyme disease. I put smidge on my legs, which helps.
Thanks Susanna, brilliant the way you’ve got thing organized and what a beautiful spot by the lake 😃
Always very inspiring and enjoying, so light, so simple, so evident in fact. Thank you Susanna for keaping us on our bikes and in our dreams
Great video. Thanks for sharing 👍 🙂
I think the Enan door is mesh all the way to the bottom isnt it, so you can lie in your sleeping bag and look out... which sounds v nice to me
Susanna you are such an inspiration. Great!
So relaxing to watch, thanks. Hope the summer is great for you. ATB.
I just found this channel and what a brilliant channel it is!
Hello Paul! oh great, glad you are enjoying it
Always a pleasure to see your videos! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Nice little tips for me! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this video. This goes into more indeph into what you use. Hope you have health. I know what your going through but a different way. Glad for your videos!
Hi Tim! wishing you and yours health too. Thanks for writing! glad you like the films!
Awesome video,respect.Happy cycling.Be safe
Fabulous. Thank you so much Susanna 👍
Thanks for this video, very informative. Hint for Trangia simmer ring: use the kettle holder as tweezers to grap the brown, extending part of simmer ring. Then you can place simmer ring slowly and don't need to throw it on burner.
Regards: Pekka, Cycling Finn
Hi Pekka! oh that is a great hint, using the pan handle "the wrong way round" like tweezers ... I see! Brilliant! Thank you!!!
Always enjoy seeing gear and how it’s packed and used!
Thanks for sharing your bike packing knowledge and tips. Very much appreciated! ☺️
Love your videos, your joy de vi is infectious, your bike packing gear and choices are helpful for anyone considering something similar. Hope you are well, God bless 👍
Adorable channel.
Great view. We are camping next month. Can't wait now. 😘
oh that sounds great! hope you enjoy all the preps these next few weeks, love putting a little pile of gear togehter, and so nice looking at maps and imagining what it will be like, nice nice nice
This is so funny because I was literally going to type on one of your videos that I would love to see more information on your much loved and longtime used Trangia! I’ve watched your other gear video and I’m so glad you made a new one. I really enjoyed them.
oh that is good! thanks for writing!
Very inspiring video! thanks for sharing this with us ❤🏆
another great presentation Susanna. I'm fairly new to Touring/bikepacking. Your information Re-minimalist travel is very helpful. Ride Safe. Johno.
Thank you.
You are an inspiration! Thanks.
Really generous to share this - loved the v practical breakdown and tips . The army folding bowl - brilliant idea! Thank you
I'm hoping to do some bike camping with my Brompton this summer. Thanks for making this video - super helpful!
Good luck to You with Your health. Stay well and keep posting.
Excellent. The result of much experience and consideration.
Brilliant to see you again, inspiring as ever. What a beautiful place to camp.
Thanks for another lovely inspiring video. Cant wait to get going again this year, you have really fired me up.
oh that is nice glad you liked it Bridget! Happy cycling there!
You are kind to the environment. Salute you
Thank you Susanna.
Thank you for sharing your excellent video.
Thanks so much, I'm new to bikepacking you've shown some great ideas and very organised, i need to work at that for my trips.
Hi Susanna,a great insight into bike camping,I ride a Brompton with friends & just lately I started to think is the Brompton harder work to ride than my road/gravel bike, what’s your opinion, maybe the answer is not to press on to hard with the Brompton, atb Colin P.👍
Great video looking into your set up, some useful tips that we are definitely going to use,
Thanks for sharing looking forward to future videos 🤗
