Words fail me but I will try ! Susanna, thank you so much for taking me along and for visiting such interesting places en route. The video was inspirational and your fortitude, perseverance, enthusiasm and joy to be out on the road once again, was self-evident. Best wishes fae Bonnie Scotland.
Thanks Suzanna, your positive energy shines through your videos. The joy you convey of just sitting in your tent watching the view on a drizzly weekday with cup of coffee in you hand is heartwarming. Love your traveller's tales too. Thanks again for taking the time and extra effort to share you journeys. Making it up as you go along and changing plans is part of the adventure. The next hill I encounter I promise not to moan about.
"..... a bit behind my plans already. Never mind!" Those simple words are how everyone should try to live by. You are truly inspirational Susanna. And what a way to finish this journey with "build yourself up!" Thanks Susanna, my heart has been opened.
I started watching your videos, Susanna, because I ride a Brompton and was interested in the set up you use and your kit etc. But now it has nothing whatever to do with any of that. It is all about your own, personal journey through your cancer journey. And your way of dealing with it, your view on Life, your unawareness that everything you say to camera is indicative of your positiveness (even when it’s wet, muddy and you’re clearly struggling.) Like most of your other viewers, I guess, it makes for self-reflection and self-evaluation. You are undergoing chemotherapy but inadvertently you are becoming a therapist for your viewers. Thank you. Keep struggling up those hills ( see what I did there) and enjoy the freewheeling on the other side. Now about that trip on your Brompton to Kilimanjaro……….
Wonderful Susanna!! Best of luck with the next stage of building yourself up to doing all that you want. It's truly remarkable that you've found the strength to do all that you have. I know that pleasure that pulls you out again and again to savour the outdoors and sleep in obscure spots in your lovely tent! The highlight was seeing the orange Brompton going to church 😂 A great watch - humanity, reality and magic fully revealed!! 🙂
Hi Miriam, aw thanks for the lovely comment again, you always say such thoughtful things. Haha yeh the Brompton went to church... Actually the vicar or someone like that came in whilst was there, and I thought oh good we can have a chat and I said hello and apologised for dripping everywhere and he was nice but didn't seem that keen to chat and I wondered why then I thought well yeh I am bedraggled person with smeared glasses and a runny nose, in a vast yellow cape and clownish overshoes, with a nasty muddy tent with leaves and grass on it. He smiled politely haha and edged away haha
Wow Susanna you did it- and you brought us along for the ride. The way you shoot your videos and share your thoughts and feelings while on the road or finding a campsite makes your videos so pleasurable to watch. The historical significance of each place you go and the way you present it is so interesting as well. As always many thanks
Thank you for another great video. I love all the information and historical facts you include. It really adds some context and interest to what might otherwise just be quaint little villages or big old towns! It's hard to see you struggle but I so admire you for not giving in and for getting out there doing what you enjoy. It so clearly lifts your spirit. Much love for continued healing and complete restoration. It is an absolute pleasure to share your journey. I hope you had a very well deserved rest at your dad's x
Very well done for persevering through the fatigue, blurred eyesight and runny nose, none of which are a world of fun, particularly when cycling. You made a great camp, and your meal looked delicious (I was hoping that even though your nose was running, that you'd be able to enjoy the smell of your supper cooking). Your routing was really good for cycling, very impressive, and I particularly enjoyed your knowledge of the aspects of the areas you travelled in. Thank you for taking us along, and good luck recuperating.
Thanks felixcat! Yeh the watering eyes and runny nose have been really annoying. Still got the eyes. Hope they clear up in the end... But hey no big deal in the scale of things. Thanks for the lovely comment!
Hi Susanna, what can I say but “brilliant”,I know we’re in the middle of a World Cup but your video took precedence over it in our house, keep up the positivity & I know all will be well, atb Colin P x.
Hey Susanna, Thank god for auto play as this is what made your video play on the tv. You have done exactly what I would like to do with my Cycle and its nice to see someone experiencing the same it's very inspiring, you are my hero 😉, I have a sister going through cancer treatment at this present time and shes doing good. So keep strong and will look forward to more content from you and when spring comes I will get my backside moving for the same adventures.. Your great 👍🏻 Take care.
Hi , Just got out of hospital after 3 months , 2 versions of covid and in between open heart surgery and I felt sorry for myself . Not any more , great inspiration, not allowed anything major yet but you've shown me how to grab life and live it. Many thanks , with you every mile. Lloyd.
Oh goodness sorry to hear all that Lloyd. Great that you are out of hosp now. Bravo you. Hope you can build yourself up and get out there and enjoy lots of good things now
Thankyou as always. This is my stomping ground so it was fun to see it through your eyes, much of it on roads I travel on so spotting the paces was fun. To take on the peak in less than perfect health is a true demeonstration of True Grit! Well done and keep safe.
I’ve been watching your videos for a long while but haven’t commented before.....however I felt I had to say how much I admire you for your strength and determination to keep on cycling during your chemo treatment and despite it’s side effects - you’re a wonderful inspiration. It was hard seeing you get so tired when normally I’m sure you’d have breezed up those hills, I really felt for you ! You’ve certainly opened up my eyes to touring on a folder..I’ve done a few folder bikepacking trips now, my favourite being from Newcastle up the coast to Berwick upon Tweed - a lovely ride past beautiful coastline and historic settlements and castles. I did that on an old Dahon but have recently bought a nice second hand Brompton and I’m loving it, they’re so versatile! Anyway I hope your treatment continues to work well and keep on riding!
the owls were amazing there. Must have been loads of them. They hooted in bursts, like for half an hour constantly, and then they would all go quiet for half an hour, and then it would kick off again. I wonder where they all are during the day
Thankyou for introducing us to yet another beautiful part of our lovely country. Yet another inspirational video, making me want to dig my tent out, forget the weather and go pedal to somewhere nice. You make wild camping look effortless and the perfect way forward. I just wish I had the bottle to try. Thank you for taking us with you on your adventures. As I say, you are truly inspirational.
Hi Sharon! aw thanks, what a lovely message. Hope you do get the tent out one day and pedal somewhere nice and camp wild. I feel nervous camping wild too. I am mainly nervous that I won't find a good spot before it is dark. But once I have got a good spot then it's so nice getting the tent all cosy, and watching things and listening to things, owls and whatnot. I know there is a risk that something awful happens to me out there all alone. But if I camp in a sensible spot, the risk is really small. And the reward is massive! Anyway, thanks so much for writing!! Happy cycling!
I notice you have a chair. Twenty years ago I invented a folding camping chair where the seat was actually on the floor but it supported your back, it made my excursions so much more enjoyable.
I woke up at 3 a.m. this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep - so I binge watched a handful of your little films 🤣 marvellous! Hope you are doing alright Susanna, keep going 🤗👍🏻
Yet another wow. It’s not so much the scenes which are great, or the talking which is uplifting, it’s your spirit that shines through. Prayers as always x
Susanna, if you could bottle your spirit you'd make millions £'s. So glad to see you on another mini adventure, not as long as some you've done but clearly more taxing. Listen to the Docs but most importantly listen to how you feel on the day. I'm sure all your subscribers are with you on every step of your way to health. Thanks so much for sharing, although hearing the rain on the tent and you packing up in your cape made me pleased I was beside my fire and not actually with you. Take care and keep up that positive spirit you have.
Well, discretion is the better part of valour, and you've got valour in spades, Susanna! Thank you so much for continuing to bring us all along with you on these short trips, despite the additional work that filming creates for you. Goodness, I was relieved to see you pull out the map when you got to that fork with flat road to the left and a steep downhill to the right. I was holding my breath, not wanting you to have ridden down that hill only to find that you had to climb back up again at this stage! Wishing you every blessing and continued grace in your battle. *hugs*
Finally our paths have crossed. I regularly ride by the Trent near Beeston where I live. Keep on making your cycling adventures. Your videos are inspirational.
Thank you for another lovely video. I hope you recover well, and are feeling stronger as time goes by. Sending you a virtual hug, and looking forward to hearing about more Susanna adventures when you are good and ready.....
Love your videos Susanna, you are a lovely soul indeed. Great adventure yet again. Thanks for the interesting commentary. Great you have a plan to work on strengthening yourself and a successful recovery.
Inspirational video Susanna in spite of all the challenges and your enthusiasm is infectious. Very well done! Some of those hills are designed to encourage you to walk and admire the views. Campsite looked lovely just difficult to access but nothing seems to daunt you. Regards Keith
What an unexpected pleasure to see you had posted a new video today. It was great to see you on the bike in the Peak District and there was some really good views especially on day one. I always love that you are happy to resort to your 24 inch bottom gear (two feet!) in order to fully appreciate the surrounding countryside! The miner carving and coffin lid were really interesting, what a find they were. Keep up the good work, I am not sure how many rounds of chemotherapy you are having but hope you are still managing to get out even though now it is getting colder.
Another really enjoyable video. Really interesting details but it’s so important that you include the times where you struggle too - much more realistic and makes me feel better about the times when I struggle too! Wishing you all the best.
Great to see you out again Susanna. Parts of this trip looked hard for you but I do so admire you fortitude. I used to travel to Derbyshire for walking hols and short breaks 30-something years ago. I loved visiting Hathersage. Take care.
oh that's good! glad you are enjoying the films! I just watched that one again myself, ahh. yeh. chemo. But cycling and camping through it was marvellous a kind of therapy of itself
You are so inspirational with your tenacious determination. Loved seeing the countryside around Manchester, amazing historical church .. l miss those here in Australia.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a great way to conclude the 4th treatment, with a 2-wheeled escape to the countryside! You have far more strength and resilience than you give yourself credit for. Even so, I was reaching thru the computer screen to try to help you push up some of those hills. Sorry I lost my puff and couldn't get you all the way to Hathersage. But no bother, changed plans are part of the adventure. And I so admire the flexibility a Brompton and a train service provides the intrepid wanderer. That woodland wild camp was wonderful and the history tour fascinating! Thanks for this invigorating autumn ride. Till next time, ATB. Brad.
Aw thanks for the lovely comment Brad, yeh that's one of the reasons I use the Brompton, easy to bail out if needed, can get on any train or bus or whatever. Actually a few days later when I went back to London the trains from Stockport to London were all messed up and loads of them cancelled too, so it was a godsend to be able to just fold up and get on board any Avanti train (eventually). With a big bike it's difficult on that line, booking required, guards van only openable by the staff and only two bike places per train. So, yeh. Well, anyway, thanks for watching! Glad you liked the film! Yes it was a brilliant way to mark reaching the end of chemo!
You are a great inspiration. I'm recovering from COVID at present and my stamina hasn't been great. I've been borrowing my wife's electric Brompton. It's an aftermarket Nano conversion. A great bit of kit for flattening hills and beating the wind. It might be something to consider. You can lower the power assist or even turn it off. It's great when you feel really tired to switch it on and get to where you want to be. Looking forward to the next instalment. Take care .
Bless you. Those Peak District hills are absolute killers even without the chemo! The downhill sections are good though! Nice to see you in my neck of the woods at the beginning of the video. I’ve cycled that track along the Trent many times. Hope you’re back to full strength soon and thanks for sharing another fabulous film of your adventures. All the best ❤
Flippin legend, you went past my house just before Milford, could have popped in for a cup o tea!……i just knew you were going to pick that flippin never ending climb on the way to Wirksworth (the “I’m walking OMG!” one …I was hiding behind the sofa 1970’s Dr Who stylee at this point)……Keep getting stronger, genuine inspiration (I’m raising the flag if i have to do the weekly shop on my Brommie, never mind nipping through Europe), Go smash the next one, once your internal battery is recharged!
Thanks a million for such lovely tours. Your enthusiastic personality is the icing on the cake! A huge thank you for all these efforts for us! We have e bikes and are not campers more buttercup tourists but we still love you and what you do ! Thanks fiona x
It’s amazing that you could do a journey like this after chemo. I had leukemia and there is no way I could have taken on something like this in between treatments. Thank you for sharing this! It was lovely!
Loved watching this. You have such determination to do this after chemo. I love your energy and enthusiasm. Beautifully filmed - I love the sound of the rain on you small tent - what an amazing way to experience the countryside - and share the woods with the owls. Thanks so much for sharing. You are such an inspiration 😊
Aw thanks Jennifer! Oh I love the sound of the rain too, and those owls! They were amazing. They hooted it in bursts, an early evening hooting session, then quiet and then a whole lot more hooting later. It was so beautiful. I was so tired on day 2. A very nice woman cycling the other way actually stopped to ask if I was OK haha. I must have looked a bit folorn
Susanna, you certainly are strong! I ‘m slowly getting back to myself after the Covid experience I had in August and watching what you are doing week after week and dealing with your chemo regiment is definitely inspiring. I love how you take us all along on your journeys, the highs as well as the lows. P.S. I just revisited your Hong Kong to England adventures. Loved them. Looking forward to your next adventure. Have a wonderful holiday season. Peter
Glad you're feeling better Peter! Keep going! oh that's nice of you about the HK to England ride yeh that was such a fab thing to do, ahh. I'll finish the series, the stuff is all here on my desk just keep not getting round to it!
I love how you appreciate what your body can do at the moment, and the grace that you show yourself when you're tired. I've also got a Brompton as well as a full-size touring bike and I've pushed them up many beautiful hills and felt the frustration and satisfaction of the tiredness a day of hilly touring brings. Can I say I get a peaceful feeling watching you sip out of your thermos cup? I love those moments of sitting and observing peacefully and having that time is one of the best things about solo touring for me. I love your videos from start to finish. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Hi Susanna - Thanks for sharing this one too. Seeing you struggle to and from your camp spot, and the obvious effort on the second day, I am so much in admiration of you. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you get up to as you get back to full fitness. 😊
Hi Karl, aw it's nice of you. Keep going with the trips and films you too! I just watched your film about that dangerous knock-off stove, wow. My nephew gave me a (proper) Trangia Mini a while back. (Such a nice prezzie!!) Have you tried them? I am inexperienced with it at the moment, practising with it on day rides
@@susannathornton Hi - Yep, I picked up a proper Trangia for less than the price of the fake one! I'm yet to use it - need to sort out a suitably paced ride instead of my usual mad dash. K.
Wow, Susanna! You really have cycled in some amazing places , I’ve watched quite a few of your videos each packed with information with a bit of history! Keep strong Suzanna , you are an inspiration! ❤
I'm so happy you've completed you last chemo and you're feeling better. You look wonderful and no doubt these bike adventures have aided in your healing. I really enjoyed this latest trip. Your perseverance is inspiring!
Thanks so much for putting this remarkable video together Susanna- inspirational as usual. Wish I could have helped you lift your Brommie over those walls. 👍👍👍
Susanna!!! What a beautiful route you have taken me!! I loved the walk right next to the river, the beautiful trees in the forest, where you camped is spectacular and what to say about the landscapes and stone carvings... everything is really beautiful! You definitely put your heart into this video and that's how I felt. Thank you very much for taking me through those lands and their history. Your videos make me another person and feed my spirit of freedom and challenges!!❤ Carmen desde PR😉
Fantastic achievement Susanna. As well as your usual lovely details, like the ford, chapel, miners and mills… I was chuffed to see the Grindleford station cafe open still. I’m looking forward to your next adventure.
Well done & thanks for sharing. You may just have to be patient and it will all return, the chemo can be a bit destructive, so you need time to recover, healthy diet & all that stuff.
aw thanks yeh chemo does feel really destructive, discovering all sorts of things falling to bits, my fingernails sort of lifting off at the moment. But I am getting over it now, getting stronger. Thanks for writing!
Brave, brave, brave! Well done Susanna terrific determination and guts for completing that especially when so tired. Great video keep up the good work and content
I have had my Christmas come early…….a Susanna top quality Brompton bike packing film thank you….. your a super star!! Get stronger all the very best Lannaye
I so admire your positive attitude, fortitude and grit. You smile all the time even when you'd be forgiven for not smiling. Power to your elbow - or wherever cyclists want their power!
You certainly like a challenge. I know what it is like to be kilometres away from your goal, tired and unable to make it BUT I wasn't recovering from chemo. I feel humbled by your resilience - you haven't lost it, it's just a bit reduced! Doesn't the rain bring out the autumn colours in the wooded areas. You find some really nice places to camp - I guess the proliferation of walking paths throughout the UK helps with access. When the British farmers settled Tasmania they made sure there were no access footpaths across THEIR fields.
Aw sorry that is a bummer, the paths thing. They did the same in Ireland, I discovered, when I went there. Thanks for the encouragement! Yeh I think you're right I haven't lost it, just reduced, and I'll get back more energy I am sure! Thanks for writing!
Hi Susanna. Just came across your channel recently, I"ve spent some time catching up on and enjoying many episodes, the additional information about the places you pass through and the beauty you see everywhere. Great job. Wishing you all the best for your treatment and recovery. Your truly an exceptional human being. Cheers Johno. (Victoria Australia).
Thanks again Susanna for posting such wonderful videos .. of which this is another fantastic example .. inspirational indeed !! I watch cyclists on TH-cam who are doing long continental and World trips - which are great, but I also love your journeys and the wonderful minutiae that you find and show to us .. and telling us about how your treatment can affect you.. Wishing you all the very best from Belfast, Ireland and looking forward to watching your future adventures. 😊😊
Words fail me but I will try ! Susanna, thank you so much for taking me along and for visiting such interesting places en route. The video was inspirational and your fortitude, perseverance, enthusiasm and joy to be out on the road once again, was self-evident. Best wishes fae Bonnie Scotland.
The words of others so elegantly express my thoughts. All I can say is, thank you.
Gosh, but this lady deserves our admiration... she's certainly got all mine!
"..... a bit behind my plans already. Never mind!" Those simple words are how everyone should try to live by.
You are truly inspirational Susanna. And what a way to finish this journey with "build yourself up!"
Thanks Susanna, my heart has been opened.
Hello, simply excellent and precious video, I congratulate you, until the next trip, greetings 😊💫✨☘️☘️☘️☘️👍
Thanks for sharing this journey. My admiration for you has no limits. You are remarkable. Good luck.
I started watching your videos, Susanna, because I ride a Brompton and was interested in the set up you use and your kit etc.

Keep struggling up those hills ( see what I did there) and enjoy the freewheeling on the other side.
Now about that trip on your Brompton to Kilimanjaro……….
Wow! Susanna ….. seriously hard core cycling in October with that rain too! Well done, & Thank You for another enjoyable tale! ❤
Wonderful Susanna!! Best of luck with the next stage of building yourself up to doing all that you want. It's truly remarkable that you've found the strength to do all that you have. Fantastic lady. I love your trips.
I find your heroism and courage humbling Susanna and I wish you all the very best with your battle against a dreadful illness .
England is such a beautiful country to tour on a bicycle!
What a trooper you are Susanna! I have trouble taking my brompton to the local shops and here you are, big well done !

Great video, nothing worse than packing a tent when it is peeing with rain.
Some beautiful scenery again, and I loved the camp spot with the sound of the owls in the evening.

Hello Susanna, enjoying myself as I go through your amazing back catalogue 🙏 And in total awe of your strength and willpower. Good on you!!!
oh that's good! glad you are enjoying the films!
Another terrific video, thank you Susanna. After all you are going through you can still smile and sing through the mist and rain. Truly amazing.
Take care .
Hi Andrew! bravo you, great that you're out there on the bike again! Good to know the Nano is so good! Keep going! 🚲😎
Aw good you're there! see you for a cuppa next time!
@@susannathornton👍
Thanks a million for such lovely tours. Your enthusiastic personality is the icing on the cake! A huge thank you for all these efforts for us! We have e bikes and are not campers more buttercup tourists but we still love you and what you do ! Thanks fiona x
Another awesome video Susanna - totally inspirational. I had a chuckle when I saw those hikers, I knew you’d try and say hello to each of them 😂
haha that made me laugh! yeh lots of hellos they were nice!!
It’s amazing that you could do a journey like this after chemo. I had leukemia and there is no way I could have taken on something like this in between treatments. Thank you for sharing this! It was lovely!
Great to see you back doing what you love doing, we really enjoyed the new video. Love P&D x
You are such an inspiration. Just love watching your adventures 😊😊😊
You're a brave lady! I'm looking forward to you being back on form as all those chemicals wash away. Great film - again! Thank you.
Hi Robin oh yes I love that too, getting somewhere and propping up the bike and just sitting there and sipping coffee and watching and doing nothing
Just so inspiring, thanks so much for having us along. "Build myself up". Yes, bit by bit, it's all there and waiting for you.
Cheers!
Your videos make me another person and feed my spirit of freedom and challenges!!❤
Carmen desde PR😉
Fantastic achievement Susanna. As well as your usual lovely details, like the ford, chapel, miners and mills… I was chuffed to see the Grindleford station cafe open still. I’m looking forward to your next adventure.
powerful and inspirational, dear Susanna
thank you for uplifting the world! 💪
Thank you Susanna
Well done & thanks for sharing. You may just have to be patient and it will all return, the chemo can be a bit destructive, so you need time to recover, healthy diet & all that stuff.
aw thanks yeh chemo does feel really destructive, discovering all sorts of things falling to bits, my fingernails sort of lifting off at the moment. But I am getting over it now, getting stronger. Thanks for writing!
@@susannathornton gives you some planning time, that was part of the fun for me.
Another wonderful and inspiring video, thank you Susanna.

Fab video again, Susanna. You started in my neck of the woods. It would have been an absolute pleasure to have met you. All the very best. ❤
Amazing. Thanks for sharing, Susanna. 🚴♂️👍🙂🏕️

Bravo Susanna!!! Thank you!
Amazing. Serious hills in the Peak District. Well done. Keep going. 🚴♂️💪👏
Another lovely trip shared with us on her Brommie from the inspirational Susanna, keep building yourself up and give us more !
I so admire your positive attitude, fortitude and grit. You smile all the time even when you'd be forgiven for not smiling. Power to your elbow - or wherever cyclists want their power!
Aw thanks for the lovely comment Tikka! more coming soon!
You are truly amazing. Thank you so much for your inspiring films.
Hi Johno! aw thanks for the lovely comment. Glad you enjoy the films!
I like you're personality Mam and you inspired me to continue bike packing or go outside and enjoy this beautiful Planet that we live in 😢😢
Thanks again Susanna for posting such wonderful videos .. of which this is another fantastic example .. inspirational indeed !! 😊😊
Your videos are almost meditative, happy I found you 😊
Glad you like them! Thank you for writing!
