    As someone whos been watching for I believe beyond 5 years now. since the OG garage days.....I was shocked to hear you say its only been four months since you started this build. I guess its really deceiving when you see cleet traveling around the country competing in 19 sports with 500 different people but you forget he has a massive team behind him. Awesome build in your garage, keep up the hard work. Ok, enough jibber jabber.

    If you can get a high current plug set you could solder directly to the pins in the damaged socket and pot it with epoxy, then you don't need to get stock plugs and can easily replace the plugs if they get damaged again. The vettes looking sick mate, nice work.

    You might run into an issue with the kill switch, the way you routed the wire with the massive power steering wire, the power steering wire is likely to induce a few volts into the kill switch wire when running. Make sure you make the kill switch active low, and not active high, otherwise it may trigger by itself... I would also put a low value resistor in series with it at the ECU connector, so that the induced current doesn't melt the wire or blow the ECU input when it gets pulled to ground... Something like 220 Ohm 1/2 watt should be fine for a 12v signal, will limit current to 50mA in the wire. If you want to be super safe, I would also add a capacitor to ground between the connector pin and the resistor, to form a RC filter to debounce the push button and filter spurious signals. A 33uF capacitor would work out to a ~10ms response from the button. Realistically anything down to 1uF would work fine.

      Fuckin nerd, so nerdy I barely know what you’re talking about. Good job. Hopefully this isn’t nonsense and is actually tediously technical electrical nerdiness. Good to have you around, nerd.

    • @adematthewsracing
      @adematthewsracing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The way the external kill switch circuit works is that if there is any break in the circuit (any of the external buttons pushed or the wire breaks) then the ground is cut to the kill box. It's basically one wire that comes out of the switch, goes in and out of the external switches and back in again.

    • @HMan2828
      @HMan2828 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adematthewsracing The switch can work in one of two ways, either one wire is wired to an output (which outputs some voltage), and the other to an input, with the button applying a voltage to the input, or you can have the input being pulled high through a resistor (external or internal to the ECU or PDM), and the button pulls that input low when pressed. The first is active high, the second is active low. The problem with an active high setup is that any voltage on the input (including voltage induced by a high current line running parallel to the input wire) can trigger the event. This won't happen by itself if the wires are routed carefully, and RC-filtered, but having a thin gauge wire running parallel to a high current supply wire for a power steering pump over a few feet, or too close to a plug wire, can have the big wire induce a few volts easily into the thin wire. If you instead wire the switch active low, you are immune to this issue.

    • @adematthewsracing
      @adematthewsracing 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HMan2828 Not this one. I've fitted several. The external circuit works in one way and one way only as I explained. Others may work as you describe but the Cartek XR doesn't.

    Just to throw it out there, very smart in staging the fans on! Starting current for a motor is called Lock Rotor Amps. The amps required to overcome a static state and come to full RPM. Even though this is a short time where both would be pulling high current, it still relieves stress. BTW good job on those mini splits in the shop! From what I saw, couldn't have done it better myself!

Not that it would have been good or bad, but for example, it would have been easy to bring up what happened to Colette by not making the fire suppression system a priority.
