@UCIXDy9UesqanY94AsJF0A9g If you make your car sound dumb, you are going to be made fun of, that is just how it works. Nobody should promote pointless noise.
Oh dam.... well it's always better to start a fresh build as trying to fix someone's hack job 👍 let's hope you have enough time to finish befor the drift season starts
Not fd legal = hack job??? The car is very well built just for a different purpose... But I'm sure with your wealth of experience and knowledge you already knew that.
You sir, are a wild man. I have The utmost respect for the work you put into your Builds and channel and then you go and decide to fully send it on this chassis. Hats off 👏
Really smart decision MHO. Yeah, a little more work now and on the front end but in the long run, will save time and money to get something you can race in multiple series. Sometimes you go down the rabbit hole and realize its time to climb out and fill the hole up with dirt and start fresh elsewhere.
@@pieterv6984 I feel we all learn a lot with how Taylor does things. Theres a lot that can be applied to just life as a whole. Do things the right way the first time, take the time and dont shortcut them, air conditioning in Florida is a must... those shorts of things.
Makes sense, glad you had the forward thinking to make this big decision now than regret it later. So ready for this comp car build! Been waiting years to see this!
Thanks for sharing. The right decisions. Especially since you have the miata as a back-up, you will quickly forget about round 1 without the Corvette, but you will NOT forget about a Corvette that isn’t what it could have and should have been.
Great decision! But, can I suggest turning the Z06 chassis into a drag setup? I remember you saying you were interested in other forms of motorsport, and it seems a shame to get rid of a good chassis. Could make your own Ruby and hang out with Cleetus some more!
drag racing is boring if you come from drifting. Its only really fun if you like building motors lol. Pretty sure he mentioned track/rally when he said that.

The guys at Lee c are great and they disassemble corvettes for a living so you know it's done right. Good luck on the build, definitely pulling for you.
To me Taylor, as long as YOU are happy with your choices (you have the skills, and the plan for your future, & deep pockets) this is your channel, I am just here to be amazed yet again at your plan for going forward, This is your online diary that we can peak into, I enjoy both the fab work the creation and the testing and driving components of your channel I hope 2022 is a hugely successful year for you mate Tony from Western Australia 🇦🇺
I kinda figured there might be a reason like this the build kept getting pushed back, a bummer for now but def will be worth it. Excited to see you build this thing up and do it the right way, and your way!
At first I was in disbelief over you purchasing ANOTHER Corvette, but after watching the video, I’m actually pretty stoked on this! Considering the actual condition of the blue Z06 chassis and its cage and modifications, the Grand Sport chassis seems like an all-around better option. Glad you were able to pick one up and get it caged (correctly!) that quickly. Looking forward to seeing this project progress!
As soon as you were building the Z car with the aluminum frame I had a feeling you were going to have issues. Glad you found a steel car that eliminates many many headaches. I'm waiting to see how your car and Colette Davis' car stack up against each other.
Probably pretty similar actually, depends on how much power Taylor ends up with but he'll probably have a little more. Won't be competing on looks though 😅
well taylor can actually drift. collettes going to be 100k into a car and still not be able to follow as she never spent enought ime in the Z learning before committing to a top shelf comp car.
This is a prime example of why I absolutely refuse to bother buying other's projects. I always start with a factory chassis and build it my way. Glad you were able to pull everything together quickly. New cage looks significantly better too.
Fresh steel slate of a chassis with a certed FD cage is going to give you piece of mind knowing it's ready for whatever the future brings. The best part is, it's truly you're build from the ground up, not a band-aid'd rescue of someone else's thought's! Smart move IMO...
Man let me tell you that 90% of you stand with you with your decisions I love to see more vette content and I absolutely love the fact that you’re going with a new chassis. So much more fab videos and it’s yours you make it what You need it to be. I’m stoked for the future after seeing this video. Keep it up. I’ve been here since turbo Miata days and I watch every video. I can’t wait to see what you do with it.
You are a man with a plan so don't let others question your motives. Obviously, you want this to be a very solid competitive car so yes this is probably the better route! Like always keep at it!
So the reason it is hard finding a steel chassis car is the same reason you're hunting for one. Just about any of us who are caging one for a race or competition series know it is easier and cheaper to cage, and it is easier and cheaper to repair. Glad to hear you did the change in direction, it is better to take a couple steps back than to move forward with a cage that won't pass tech.
Maybe wheel tubs with 90 degree twist fasteners? Would not keep all the smoke out, but would keep tire and road trash out while making it easy to remove the tub and for access to suspension.
Dude, Taylor just gotta say I love watching you drive man, something special about it. I definitely see a bright future in FD for you, can’t wait to watch along as you go
Just noticed in the time lapse that the parking brake is set... that's good call, dont want it to roll away!! Lol Also idea for the wheel tubes in the new car, maybe make removable tubs with something like quarter turn fasteners so you have the protection of a tub but when you need to work on suspension you just pop out a few fasteners and access everything
So on the wheel tubs if you cut them out cut them out clean then mount brackets on the chase so you can use Zeus tabs. That will alow you to have the best of both worlds, you will have the protection but be able to remove the tubs fast when you need access to your suspension.
Taylor I would cut the wheel wells out but to prevent damage and have easy access still and not have to roll any metal, I would just use ABS plastic panels to make rectangular tubs. Could use dzus fasteners to be able to get them off quick too.
I absolutely love the mighty mouse Miata. I started watching you cuz of that car when you said your plan was to ls it. That's when i started watching and you've become my #1 favorite TH-camr.. just the way you teach and talk and how humble you are all that
Unfortunate., I can't imaging I spent the money you did but I had a similar experience. Got an 85 s10 from a friend. Couple known issues but it was already v8 manual. 350 with a t5. Started trying to "finish" the build and realized that it wouldn't be a good thing to try to band aid the current setup vs completely re-doing it. Found a cab that had floors (lol) sandblasted the frame and basically started over. Sucks to see this happen to others.
Sounds to me like you solved 2 problems in one ! You get your comp car the way you want it and the aluminum Z06 would make a great start for a No prep drag build ! All the base work is done if you made room for a manual trans up front a glide should clear as well …. Just a thought
Love how you are such a nice guy, that you are not going to call out someone crap work, you comment on the heavy bars the crap fit , seat will not move back, and so on, and then say "overall it's a well built cage" HAAA HAA
For the rear you could plausibly make removable panels so you can still access the suspension components while keeping majority of smoke and tire out of the rear or find a way to seal off the rear from the "cockpit" area
Honestly this decision is very smart, you may not make the 1st round but you still have the Miata. I think having to use the Miata for 1 or 2 rounds of cc and then getting your car together how you want it without having to work around someone else’s work is worth it. You’re willing to put in the time. It’s going to be sick when it’s done.
@@basementbanter366 well they drug it off with the mower. But pretty sure if you raise the arms up to clear the trailer fenders, (if it was to narrow) could have backed it in there.
