Finally, some decent content on the DTP! I bought one about 2 years ago for £280 and used it daily. I've never really seen many people review or talk about them, so glad you're making content on it. I paired my with a Eureka Mignon Manuale 50, and been super happy with the setup. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Nice intro. I bought my DTP 8 years ago and used it almost daily until 2 years ago, when I gave it to my stepson. He still uses it 5-6 times a week. So - 8 years on and still going strong - never skipped a beat. They’re great machines.
Glad you are doing sage DTP, hope to learn a few new tips, I have had mine for a year as I got a cheap refurb (like new), managed to upgrade to an iPS basket which is not tapered and larger than the standard baskets, I love the machine it is so well made and a big upgrade from the delonghi/dulite machines I have owned previously, Thanks Kev.
Nice on Kev 👌 Had the DTP paired with Smart Grinder Pro for over a year now, and thanks to your discount codes, purchased at a really good price This pairing is definitely the best value around for a once or twice a day user, and the fact that all features are under the users control, makes it perfect for experimenting with grind size and volume. Bottom line …. This pairing is best value out there, and produces great coffee !!!!
@@guystevens311 Wow…… I am consistently on setting 10 on my SGP , using freshly roasted (Dark) beans, and this gives me the perfect extraction for my “taste preference.” I do spend time with a pre set tamp and puck filter to help with consistent extraction though
@@DavidSmith-rt7dt Using Rave beans and think my puck prep is OK. Have you adjusted the burrs on the Grinder Pro? I'll give dark roast beans a try to see if it makes a difference.
@@guystevens311 As mentioned Guy….. have had the pairing for just over a year now, and on Kev’s recommendation ( refer to his review of SGP) I have not adjusted burr settings so early in the life of the Grinder. With the Coffee Beans I buy locally (Triplecoroast/Bristol) I do find a slight adjustment between factory setting of 14 down to 10 which seems to be my default, is required. I hope you get it right after maybe experimenting with some different roasts 🤞
Thanks Kev for the informative content. As a newbie I was a bit overwhelmed with the size of the barista learning curve. At one point I was thinking of throwing in the towel and buying a jar of instant 😅 Glad to say I got over it and am going to purchase a DTP from Sage direct for below £300 with your discount code. Thanks for saving me!
Bought the Duo-Temp Pro after my Bambino Plus malfunctioned. It feels more like a proper coffee machine unlike the Bambino Plus which was more like a big toy. I also bought a Eureka Mignon Oro grinder to replace the pretty hopeless Sage Dose Control grinder. Results are much better probably due to the Eureka which is a quality piece of apparatus.
@@Coffee_Kev As you say it's a good set-up but I am still searching for the ideal bean if there is such a thing. Tried so many, binned so many but it's part of the journey I suppose. Maybe one day.
My partner and I drink flat white. We are home office 100% and can spare time on making coffee. We can’t decide between this or bambino +. I guess I don’t mind learning manual milk streaming as I’m not trying to do art latte or advanced stuff. And the build quality of this machine feels more solid than bambino.
You give different dimensions in each of your videos for the duo temp plus - please could you clarify what they are as they also differ from the Sage website too! Thanks
It depends on the person, they're quite different machines made for different people, the Duo Temp Pro is really made for the people who'd be thinking along the lines of the Gaggia Classic or Rancilio Silvia. Cheers, Kev.
Ok..on the fence between this DP and the infuser 🥵 any advice? My thinking is that even though the dp is marketed as an entry level - its newer then the infuser so maybe its better design wise? And i could save a little money not needing the volumetric buttons and temp changing settings.. or are those little extra things worth the extra $100? So conflicted 😅
Is the steam stick works regularly ? Exactly I'm trying to learn is it enough to when you making a latte's milk to prepare cream ? I have a Gaggia Classic Pro and I'm not satisfied. When I'm making a latte cream the light turn off (means not ready to use) in the midstream.
Do you know how much temperature the duo temp uses? I once asked a retailer why my coffee machine is not producing coffee with this crema which sticks to the coffee cup and leaves this thick brown residue which you get normally with Italian espressos.
93C, 199.4F. Coffee not having much crema could be various things. My first thought would be the beans, what beans are you using? Other than that it could be a dialling in issue, part of which could be brew temp. Are you doing a pre-heating flush? If so, do a turbo flush: a flush with the dual walled basket in the portafilter, this way the water gets the full contact time with the coil, so you're flushing at brew temp, not the usual slightly cooler flush you get when there's no pressure in the basket to slow down the water flow. Ta, Kev.
@@Coffee_Kev thanks. There is crema but the consistency of the crema is less sticky. I think it’s a machine issue though. I never saw a video of such an espresso extracted by a sage. The guy in the shop seemed really experienced and skilled so I think he is right. I can get a good crema with fresh coffee, but as said, it doesn’t glue to the inside cup

Hi, a lot of the attraction of the Bambino Plus is the auto milk steaming so if you are not bothered about milk steaming, the Duo Temp Pro will probably be more suitable, or the Bambino if you wanted shot buttons.
Thanks @@Coffee_Kev really useful info. We just drink shots :) Is there anything else you've seen that would just be a great Shot Machine? Open to any suggestions.
I can get this for $399 in Australia. I’m thinking of getting one of these and a flair 58. Using this to steam milk and when I’m in a hurry for an espresso.
That certainly wasn't the intention, I was just taking the pi$$ out of myself, celebrating by cracking open a bottle of fizz, at finally having reviewed this machine.
