Hello Tom. I do now have the bambino plus but I keep watching videos of the duo temp pro. Do you think this would be a better option then the bambino plus to buy instead or you recommend just to stay with the expresso machine I currently have?
Hey. Great video. I just bought one used and the water from the head is coming out only from one side. It’s like the other side of the group head is blocked. What could that be down to?
You are using the same multimeter as i saw the breville express showed 92c this 86c i dont get why 4c degree less 🤔 That machine looks good for portability easy to store everywhere.Cheers ✌️
Well, you can adjust the temp on the BBE. But yeah, if one considers that my multimeter is about 4-5 degrees off, then this extracted at 90-91 degrees, while the BBE was a little higher. Cheers!
Just bought one of these and can’t wait to use it. Does anyone know what size funnel to use for the portafilter? Seen some people saying the 54mm is too big
Sage duo temp or the regular bambino. I am getting them both for the same price i.e 350 cad. Just wondering which is better? Also i am a cappuccino person more than an espresso person but i do like my coffee taste good. Any advice will be helpful!
Yay... but I'd still go for the Bambino for the smaller footprint and lower price for something simple/ basic like this (I'd prefer the Bambino Plus) although that tamper keeper makes me want one of these bigger Brevilles❤
@Tom's Coffee Corner good points! I'm the guy that wants to be pulling a shot within a minute after turning the machine (gotta grind those beans) so I'm not going to wait for it to get up to temperature anyway, I'm just going to pull a couple blind shots to heat up the portafilter and run with it haha
@@NoZenith I mean that the tamper base is thin, so it's easy to tamp crooked/not perpendicular. The handle shape doesn help either, but that's another topic. A thicker tamper base (e.g. Motta tampers) or a level tamper (e.g. Normcore V4 or The Force Tamper) would prevent this issue

@@TomsCoffeeCorner The pid is super stable!! I would say it's within 1 degree C for sure :) I actually have a video somewhere but not on youtube I should upload as a short or something. It's been a combination of software adjustments in coding and settings in the menus of the gaggiuino. It's been about 3 weeks of letting gaggiuino do the temperature control and I think I'm going to just reconnect the pid to control the temperature and install a probe where the water hits the puck and let the gaggiuino just plot that temperature data during a brew so I will have a real time display plotted on a graph of temperature during brew of water hitting the puck. What's the portafilter size on this? Can you do a demo using plant based milk too? I was considering this machine or the Gaggia Classic Pro but i don't know how they team soy milk. Great videos and very helpful info btw :)
This is 54mm. Plant based milk is much harder to froth, because it has a different protein/fat makeup. I find you need a ton of steam power to get it textured. The Bambino Plus would do better here, than the Duo Temp Pro.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thank you for taking the time to reply! Any chance you could recommend a budget friendly machine that works with plant based milk? I only drink milk drinks, no pure espresso, so that feature is very important. I can't find any good recommendations anywhere.. Thank you!

Hey Tom, thanks for all of the videos you’ve made, it really makes me wanna do espresso at home a try, even if a lot of people are discouraging it. I need an advice on which machine I should get for my first espresso machine, the DeLonghi ECP 3420, or the DeLonghi Dedica? The problem with the Dedica that I’ve seen a lot is the brew group not heated at all, so it can’t really extract lighter roasted coffee. Thanks again.
It does better with all roasts in my opinion. However, lighter roasts are notoriously difficult, and you might want a machine with an adjustable PID. Those machines are expensive though.
Hello there! Yes, your beans are probably too old - or in other words roasted too long ago. These videos may help: How to extract the perfect espresso: th-cam.com/video/piO6c695Op8/w-d-xo.html How to Get Crema: th-cam.com/video/00NSG9459a8/w-d-xo.html Why Supermarket Coffee Beans are RUINING your Espresso! th-cam.com/video/5BgMKqu8fJI/w-d-xo.html
Hi Tom Very good Video! I am looking for a really good espresso machine. I have been looking on the De'Longhi Stilosa and Dedica. I don't like the Dedica because it doesn't use a boiler like the high end machines. The Stilosa, do have a boiler, but I've heard that it is inconsistent. So I'm now looking on the Sage Duo temp, but I really don't understand what Sage mean with Duo temp because it's not a dual boiler, so what do they mean, do you know? And then I also wonder if you remember if you could change the tip on the steam wand on the duo temp, and is it then possible to put the tip from the Sage Bambino plus on the duo temp? Thank you for all the great TH-cam videos!
The Duo Temp has a thermocoil system with a preset PID. I measured it to sit around 90 degrees. The Stilosa is a 150ml boiler machine, which is controlled by thermostats. The advantage of the Sage is holding the temps pretty stable, while the advantage of the Stilosa is a nice heated brew group, and lower price. You can change the steam tip on the Sage, but I think the included one is pretty good. Cheers!
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Hi Tom! Thank you so much for sharing your videos! I had a blast watching a couple of them. As someone who's a total newbie and has absolutely no experience, I was wondering if you could help me choose between the Delonghi Dedica and the Sage Duo Temp Pro? Thank you!
I thought that to prime you need to first turn the hot water on, have water run through there and then switch to coffee brewing mode and have water run through the group head. You did it the other way around
You can do it either way. I actually tried first through the steam wand, but it was taking too long, so I tried the brew group instead. I just cut that part out of the video, as it was too long and boring. But yes, you can prime either way. Cheers!
Because the water where I live is so hard, I'm surprised rocks don't come out of the faucet. In all seriousness, it is super hard, and I want the machine to last longer, so I have gotten used to using Brita filtered water for ALL my kitchen devices.
Did you use the pressurised or non pressurised basket for the espresso you brewed? I would have thought that 60 clicks was a bit on the coarse side for an espresso
In the United Kingdom & Europe the Breville brand is not owned or operated by Breville Group Limited. Jarden Corp, is a separately owned and managed company that offers a completely different range of products in the U.K. & Europe to Breville in other parts of the world.
It seems like the whole machine is about 4 inches wider than necessary just to accommodate the magnetic tamper holder. I would rather buy my own tamper and sit it on top of a machine that has a narrower footprint.
The knob is extremely difficult to turn and over the time will lead to injury. I am dead serious, I didn't know until developed a serious tendinitis on my left hand wrist because of it. Very bad engineering, having a simple switch would have been enough and more practical.

Thank you!
@@ArtOfMK I feel you need amazing steam power for frothing plant based, so I'd go for the Bambino Plus. It's got great steam power, and because it's a thermocoil, it lasts as long as you want.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Omg thank you so much for your advice! As a complete coffee noob i had no clue what to pick. I'm so grateful that you actually take the time to answer comments and you're so helpful! I'll buy the Bambino Plus and start my coffee journey from there..
@@TomsCoffeeCorner Hi Tom, thank you very much for your brilliant reviews! I am considering the Bambino Plus, as you said you prefer it to the Duo temp pro, for the better steam power (my son loves his cappuccino :) The only thing is, I prefer the tamper and the portafilter of the Duo. I was trying to find them online and buy them to use with the Bambino Plus, but couldn't find them in Sage brand. Sage only sales separately bottomless portafilter. Do you mind, if you give me a link of where to get both Sage tamper and portafilter ( No plastic). Thank you very much in advance! :)
Is it 15 bar or 9 bar at the portafilter ?
Breville claims 9 bar. I do not have a manometer to test the max pressure however.
I like the ECP3420 the best, of every machine under $400.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner because of the heated brew group? So it will theoretically make better extraction with lighter roasts?
It does better with all roasts in my opinion. However, lighter roasts are notoriously difficult, and you might want a machine with an adjustable PID. Those machines are expensive though.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner might upgrade to one of those later down the line, what are some examples of espresso machine with PID’s?
Why is the coffee only at 90 degrees? Should it not be at 95?
Well, at the brew group it's supposed to be around 90-95, but in the cup it's cooler already.
@@TomsCoffeeCornerbut your temperature sensor is inside the portafilter and that area is supposed 93.
I have same machine but can never get my shots nice and creamy always comes more liquid 😢
Hello there! Yes, your beans are probably too old - or in other words roasted too long ago.

Nice review. Thank u.
The machine is good but steam the milk. It takes too long time
Hi Tom
Very good Video!
Cheers!
What is the boiler made of?
It's a stainless steel lined, aluminum encased thermocoil heater.
Does it have a opv pump?
It has both a pump and an OPV.
So what’s the verdict? Do you like it? Any cons?
I like it fine, but you can get similar results for less money.
Thank you!
@@mamido83 Well it depends on your market. If the price is similar, go for the Sage, otherwise get the Dedica. They are both good.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner could you be specific?
I thought that to prime you need to first turn the hot water on, have water run through there and then switch to coffee brewing mode and have water run through the group head. You did it the other way around
You can do it either way. I actually tried first through the steam wand, but it was taking too long, so I tried the brew group instead. I just cut that part out of the video, as it was too long and boring.
But yes, you can prime either way. Cheers!
Is 93° the only temperature?
Having this machine i think it is because it has pid temperature control thing, so probably it wants stay there
why do u use the filter, when your water ist already filtered?
Because the water where I live is so hard, I'm surprised rocks don't come out of the faucet. In all seriousness, it is super hard, and I want the machine to last longer, so I have gotten used to using Brita filtered water for ALL my kitchen devices.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner jhahahaha got it!
Did you use the pressurised or non pressurised basket for the espresso you brewed? I would have thought that 60 clicks was a bit on the coarse side for an espresso
Great review - I have one of these coming tomorrow. Can you tell me what is the make of that hand-grinder please?
Oh, that's the Kingrinder K4. Nice grinder!
i always get nervous when you talk instead of pulling the shot when you attached the porta filter with the coffee inside to the machine xD
In the United Kingdom & Europe the Breville brand is not owned or operated by Breville Group Limited. Jarden Corp, is a separately owned and managed company that offers a completely different range of products in the U.K. & Europe to Breville in other parts of the world.
Hi Tom, I recently got this machine on a deal and really appreciate this review! I wanted to ask what grinder you were using in this video?
That's the K4 by Kingrinder. My favorite hand grinder: th-cam.com/video/-Aj9i8QGUKo/w-d-xo.html
How can I make double ☕️☕️ shots ?
This or the Bambino?
Have you decided? I'm asking myself the same question
@@rupp88 Not yet. Good luck with yours.
If you like a lot of froth/foam, it’s better with less fat milk.
Qual a medida deste filtro ?
54mm
👍 очень помог
It seems like the whole machine is about 4 inches wider than necessary just to accommodate the magnetic tamper holder. I would rather buy my own tamper and sit it on top of a machine that has a narrower footprint.
sad i sold mine...

The fat is bitter. 🎉 whit great coffee.
I agree
The knob is extremely difficult to turn and over the time will lead to injury.
I am dead serious, I didn't know until developed a serious tendinitis on my left hand wrist because of it.
Very bad engineering, having a simple switch would have been enough and more practical.
It is quite stiff to turn, that's true.
OK here's a really really dumb question why is it called Sage? everyone just consider me your comedy relief. haha
Breville sold off their trademark name some time ago in the EU. So now they had to come up with a different name for their machines.
Looks like a not so good coffee machine. The steam toke to long and espresso came out with not enough crema
WORST MACHINE EVER! I have two. once they develop scale around pipes and switch selector, no repair parts could be found.
There is a process called descaling you know...
