    Master the friction zone | What's the secret?
    You practice all the slow riding techniques...Head and eyes looking where you want to go, Friction zone, little throttle, little pressure on the rear brake, but you are still not smooth enough.
    Here we show you how to Master The Friction Zone, Including one technique police motor officers learn in the first week in motor school.
    Enjoy and go out and try it, your Friction zone riding will become much more smoother.
    Tanks for watching.

    Becoming a more safer and smoother rider doesn't happen by accident. Practice just once a week even if you only have a 5 - 10 minutes.
    Try this technique, and you WILL notice an improvement your skills.
    I'm not saying Never use your brakes....By all means use them if you must...Just slightly less pressure.

      so true! Just 5-10 minutes practice makes a difference. Been riding since 2014 but never practiced slow speed stuff and always struggled until watching technique videos. Simple stuff like turning my head and eyes and the friction zone mastery helps so much with slow speed stuff. Kinda feels like learning how to ride all over again, keeping it exciting :). Great video and tips

      @@FCT8306onTwoWheels Yeah we try to get in at least two practices a week, even if its only 5-10 each. And you are not alone, we all struggled with the slow stuff, but once you get...man riding is sooo much fun. thanks for watching and commenting.
      I appreciate it!

However we were still having smaller sessions, but it is also on hold for the summer, until our return from our trip. We are expected to return in November.

    Excellent video! I remember when I took the M.S.C. our instructor touched on the friction zone, explaining the clutch to throttle ratio. I use the latter of the technics, let me explain...I'm a shorter rider with a big bike Harley Road Glide Special, so being able to maneuver, in tight areas is a must. thats where mastering the friction zone comes in handy.
    P.S. I fact checked myself last night, 10 pm practicing the "zone" U turns and circles! thanx again for the videos Rich n Kake, Keep up the good work....#BootsandJeans

      Hey Dave Appreciate the insightful comment. Fact checking is always good, Most think that if they get something right one time it should be enough. However motorcycle are a different monster. I always said "getting it right once is luck, 2 - 10 times is gaining experience, 10 or more times without mistakes...that's skills".
      Keep it up my brother and continue to fact check yourself.
      Roll safe.

      Definitely give it a try. You'll find with just a little practice, you will get much smoother riding in the friction zone without the breaks. Then using the breaks (only as needed) will enhance the friction zone.

    You made a good point about doing the U turn without the brake. I always find myself relying on the rear brake during the turn which makes the bike want to stand up so I have to add clutch and throttle to make it through. I’m going to try your way next time thanks for taking the time to make this New Subscriber. Ride safe.

    • @BootsandJeansRiders
      @BootsandJeansRiders  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're exactly correct...Too much brake stands the bike up and the slower you go it wants to tip over.
      Hard braking also makes it more jerky. Little presure braking or no brakes will make the turns much smoother.
      When you start, use a large 30'+ U-turn without brakes then bring it in to the 24' as you get comfortable.
      Thanks for subscribing we really appreciate your support.

      Thanks Luvneeders, I appreciate the kind words.
      Some thinks we are saying never use rear brakes. We made this to show all you need is very little pressure on the brakes. Friction zine is the key to it all
      Glad you liked it.

      Hey Ginger I'm glad it was helpful. I wish we could make it there. Your riding requirement are more strict then here, so I'm sure you will be just fine.
      We just say practice as much as possible and you will develop muscle memory quickly.

    That last bit about getting as high as you can on the bike and becoming one with it really resonates after my recent ride to Burning Man.

    Rode the police bike, Road King, for 11 years but now want a Goldwing. I've ridden a few Goldwings and tried to do the u-turns but I haven't figured out foot position to avoid my foot from making contact with the ground in the turns. Excellent video! Happy New Year!

    • @BootsandJeansRiders
      @BootsandJeansRiders  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happy New Year Charles.
      Yeah I know what you mean...Because the GW don't have floorboards most of us ride with our toes passed the pegs and forget to reposition during U-turns. Making out feet touch the ground before the pegs touch. However that all changes with a little practice.
      Happy New Year
      Thanks for watching.

    Telling you, here in Sweden it's not really allowed - more than just occasionally - to use the rear brake at the creep zig-zag test. To get the rider's licence. I haven't understood why, since the RB supplies stability, but this was a wake-up call for me. One must control every situation behind the handlebar.

      @BootsandJeansRiders  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it's seems easier to get a MC license in the US than any other country. So I'm sure your skills are higher than the majority here. Thanks for watching. I appreciate your comments.

    Well done Rich. Good riding cranking out those no brake u-turns. And good explanation of the friction zone. Thanks for all the effort you guys put in to this video setting the cones etc. Only thing that could have made it better is more of your lovely assistant. 😉 I hope you're both enjoying your New Years day.
