- I know we say it often but this C20LET "Red Top" Swapped Renault 5 GT Turbo has to be one of the best and most complete cars we have ever had on the channel. This sits in Owens Top 3!!
We guaranty the purists will go mental but with this engine in this light weight R5 GT Turbo makes it a complete animal.

@@owenkcc Its just such a sick car. Your Escort remains one of my favorites. Also with the the older cars its all manual and hands on rather than electronic diff's. DSG etc. ABS is the only thing from modern cars which i like.

Love it.. iv had mine 12yr now.. fully restored bodywork.. bloody rust buckets.. sadly not had time (too many kids) mine will have a Volvo 480 t engine in when the kids grow up 👌🏻 just got my self a golf r to keep me going after driving dad wagons for 7yr 😵💫

Ahh a nostalgia car and a beautiful example. Brings back good and bad memories as I lost a mate to one of these. He was pushing it to hard after a argument with his missus, he crashed and unfortunately lost his life. Defo need a roll cage in these ad they are like crisp packets.

Brilliant build , in the early 90s I knew a bloke who drove a 911 turbo and his best mate had a Renault turbo red one too and he put it a garage for a remap and the 911 owner took him to pick it and they had a race home and unfortunately the Renault lost control and hit a lamp post and the car broke into bit and went up in flames and the driver couldn't get out the car and burnt to death the 911 owner couldn't do anything but watch ! Basically I'm pointing out just how weak them Renaults are in a crash but bloody rapid back in the day !
I had an R5 (but not a GT Turbo) the same colour - not so much red as shades of pink and orange due to fading and a new wing (with crap paint matching) during my ownership. Twenty-five years later this one looks better than mine did then. The only car I've ever spun (on a roundabout at 30mph, coming to rest with the back wheels against the island).

I used to work at a Renault dealership back in the late 80's and had to do pre-delivery inspections on these new before going to the new owners, brings back fond memories.
Stu & Owen owned 6 between them and still love them to this day

I know a guy who put a r25 megane rs engine in it 2.0 with 240 hp and plenty of torq. I owned a r25 f1 megane.. that was a torqie boy as well that power inside a 800ish kg renault 5 is crazy!!
